That second strike to Casey looked outside. I thought Casey laced a single, but the ball stayed up. Tough luck Sox fans.

I've been forcing myself to love Bay (not so hard after his hot weekend), but seeing those numbers with the bases loaded made me cringe a bit. Pretty much the polar opposite of Manny.

terrible game for the Red Sox.....absolutly terrible in every way....a chance to move closer to Tampa.....now it's time for the Yankees to come through and beat the Rangers

From your mouth to God's ears.

It wasn't pretty but the RBI single didn't do it for you?

You'd rather he make an out?

I don't think so. We went from Buchholz throwing like crud in the 3rd to a half-decent start from him, and a couple of legitimate chances to win it. If you'd offered me that when Buchholz was beaning people with the bases loaded in the 3rd, I'd have taken it.

And the 'pen continues to get better. They are not an obvious weakness right now the way they looked a month ago.

Jeter is now a below average shortstop in every sense of the word. Damn. Poor range, and a sub 400 slugging. I thought he'd come down a bit, but this is just awful.

You guys still laughing at the stealing 1 from the Royals comment? Have to tip my cap to Gil Meche who just tore apart this lineup. Buchholz was better then I thought he would be. But the weak hitting was there as it has been since July 1st now.

no no no, thats not what I meant,. I'll take anything we can get in the kinda game they had tonight. I was referring to his career stats with the bases loaded. (.219, .256, .375, .631, 2HR, 45 RBI in 78PA) Not so clutch and pretty much the opposite of Manny's numbers with the bags loaded. (Granted, yes it is a small sample size).

Not really a complaint, I just kinda cringed a bit as I've been used to one of the greatest hitters with the bags loaded.

Not only that, but they lost with a very favorable pitching matchup, whereas we lost (barely) with a not-so-favorable matchup. I bet we gained a game on the Yankees according to the KiloMetric today! And that's what counts... uh...

For the record -- Devern Hansack has been pitching very well after some initial problems, down in Pawtucket. Over his last 10 games he has an ERA in the mid 2's with 72 strikeouts un 65 innings. (obviously, 6.5 IP/G too which would look really good in Boston)
