You are such an *******. :) You sound like a die hard Yankee fan....in fact....

I'm a big "TheKilo" fan. Just to ensure he knows how cool being a die hard Yankee fan is, we officially inducted him as a member of the Die Hard Yankee Fan Club and we are sending him his membership card giving him access to an array of options including our newsletter, bumper stickers, pins, Bleacher Creature seats and a jockstrap personally autographed by Derek Jeter.

Please...all of you....welcome TheKilo to the Die Hard Yankee Community!

I'll give it to the Talksox Red Sox fans and let them handle it, they'll probably take care of that. Let them decide.

Since when is somebody only allowed to root for 1 team? Most baseball fans have secondary teams that they pull for.

[thread jack]

Gotta chime in on this one... I've NEVER understood the two team people. I'm a Red Sox fan (first and foremost), Pats fan, Celtics fan, and I've boycotted hockey ever since the strike and rule changes designed to gain the casual fan while pissing off the die hards (but before then, when it was a great sport, I was a Bruins fan).

Why the HELL is anyone allowed two teams in any one sport? Seriously! I have to say, I don't understand it. I root for my teams, and my teams only. If I'm not watching my team, and I am just watching a game to get a sports fix, I will root for a good game, or maybe an individual player (case in point, i went to a Rangers and Tribe game last year with a good friend of mine who's an Guardians fan, and I certainly cheered for Trot, cause I still like that guy and he was part of something very special to me).

You're not allowed to have 5 teams per sport just to make sure your heart isn't broken by the end of the season! Your team either wins, or loses. You will rarely be happy, but take comfort in misery. That's sports!

btw, the whole betting thing doesn't work for me... A common argument to my theory is the Super Bowl. What if your team isn't in the super bowl, can't you pick one and root for them? Honestly, I never have. I don't bet on games (I have horrible luck and am against gambling). So when I watch a super bowl that doesn't have the Pats in it, I root for a good game, and mostly I root for good beer.

It's not that I have two teams VI...it is just rare that I watch a game without rooting for one team over another. It's the competitive part of me. I like the Giants, but I also like the Jets. I root for both to win. I'd love to see an all-NY Superbowl. That's all.

I am a Yankee fan, first and foremost. I will root for the Mets when they play the Dodgers or the Marlins. That's about all.

I will admit though...I was kinda rooting for the Marlins in the last game. I wanted to see an epic collapse, so I could shut my Mets fans up about 2004. :)

More than I'd care to admit. At least you didn't ask HOW I got them.

You forgot the six month membership to the Brian McNamee personal fitness gymnasium

That's the advanced membership. He doesn't qualify for the "Flintstone Vitamin Package".

i think we suspect how you got them

and me, being a businessman more than a moralist can only applaud your agenda.

as a young kid i liked to watch the reds on national tv(before espn kids) because they most resembled the sox in color and had a very exciting team where everyone, even the catcher stole bases...

i had no issues wishing their plane crashed after game 7s 4-3 brutal loss after a 3 run lead.

sure

you can pick sides and want 1 team to win over another in any sport but the idea of having another team to love is absolutley foreign to me,anyone in my family or any of my friends..

this is the difference between ny and boston.

there are 10M people in nyc

8m of them would switch sides between the mets and yanks in a ny minute.

notice seinfeld was a mets fan in the begining and then george became a gm of the yanks as the yanks had success?

the yanks have more legit fans in north jersey than they do in manhatten

the bronx and s.i are yank areas

queens and brooklyn i suspect have more met fans

manhatten tilts toward the yanks

but

the mile wide inch deep fan base of the yankees gets easily eroded if the mets are winning and the yanks fall into mediocrity.

The Mets can go 162-0 and they'll still trail the Yankees on the backpage. It's unfortunate' date=' but thats just the way it is.[/quote']

Hey man, shouldn't it be 26-7 now?

I only love the Yankees. Never loved another team, never will. I'll root for other teams, but I don't really care either way. In fact, I'll root for Boston if it benefits the Yankees [i.e., Boston out of the playoff picture, but they're playing, say, the Tigers, and the the Yankees are neck and neck with them for homefield advantage].

go f*** yourself

Since when is somebody only allowed to root for 1 team? Most baseball fans have secondary teams that they pull for. Being as how they too represent my home city whats the problem with rooting for them? Why do you have to always be so f***ing ignorant? If they were in the same division, or even the same league I would understand...but theyre not!

Its funny but a lot of Giants fans came out of the holes they live in and gave me a load of s*** about them beating the Patriots.

...turns out several of them are NY Jets fans. I think about Jets/Giants fans the same way I think about Mets/Yankee fans....they are bandwagon fans.....root for whoever is winning.

my mom is a giant fan

shes old and they were the closest nfl team back before 60

dad liked philly cause chuck bednarik ko'd frank gifford

today they are pats fans 1st with no inner turmoil yet the other 2 clubs are still liked by them.

this state has its own issues

i bet there are more sox fans in ct than west of worcester in mass

springfield falls under nys control in organized crime so we inside the 495 belt pretty much ignore that part of the state.

I think that's because the majority of Jets fans are SEVERE Pat's haters. The fact that is was another NY team that beat the Pats made them giddy.

I'm a diehard Yankees fan, but there were some years, in the late 90's, I watched almost as many Mets games in September. When the Yankees have the pennant all but clinched in the first week of September [i think they clinched one year in AUGUST], and the Mets are fighting tooth and nail with the Braves, it was just more interesting. By that token, I watched more Mets/Phillies/Rockies/Padres/Diamonback games the last weekend of baseball than I did the Yankees. Doesn't mean I root for them. There is something about elimination games that just gets me going.

Agreed. Pick one team and hate the rest. Otherwise, you risk being seabeachfred.

While I don't root for 2 teams in sports I really care about and have a hometown rooting interest, I find I'm rooting for 2+ teams in college basketball/football, since I don't have one particular team.

I need a home town rooting interest too. Having lived in Colorado for 15 years I could only watch the Red Sox 15 or so times a year in the regular season and I needed a baseball fix... so I'd watch the Rockies -- you watch a team enough you'll grow to care about 'em. Especially one that, while not particularly good ever (until this past year), hustled and tried harder than any team out there. That's why I root for two teams... when the two met in the World Series this past year, there was no doubt as to who I'd cheer for. I didn't want to see the Rockies win a single game... I looked at them as I had the Guardians and Angels before them in the playoffs.
