Lugo was safe. Gom' date=' you're pretty happy that instant replay isn't there right now, right? lol, I'm just busting your balls.[/quote']

No, actually I'm not. I want the players to decide the game, not the umpires. The only time I would be happy is if the call went my team's way, but I would rather them get it right.

Man I'm so glad we traded for Beckett and Lowell. Lowell looks like he is reverse-aging the way he is swinging the bat and Beckett is turning into quite the ace. Filthy. I can't believe his 5-1 strikeout-walk ratio. Thats pretty insane for a power pitcher.

I want instant replay to help determine home runs and possibly foul balls, that's all. It would be a mistake to take the human element out of the game... it's part of what makes it great the great game that it is.

Anyways... Beckett looks great! Lackey... not so much! What's Beckett's pitch count at?

The thing that really gets me with the whole replay argument is the fact that they replay the play on the jumbotrons in the parks. I mean, its right up there to see. I remember times when the fans could clearly see a blown call right on the replays in the park. I think they should add replay to certain parts of the game. I like baseball as a "traditional" sport, but common on, the technology is right there, use it!

Safe and out calls should also be included. Balls and strikes, no. Other than that, why not?

I don't agree on foul balls if you are talking about ones in play. Where does the runner end up? Most balls down the line are doubles, or even triples, but then again, sometimes slow guys get held to singles. I'm all for replay on HRs and calls at the bases though.

EDIT: And also, what if there are runners on base? How many bases to they get? Tough to set a standard number of bases for plays that are so dynamic.

Good point, I never thought of that. It's kind of like the flaws the NFL originally had with their replay system where if a runner was ruled down by contact before fumbling the ball, it couldn't be overturned and called a fumble because the whistles blew and you can't determine who'd have recovered...

NFL managed to come up with a good way around that problem but I don't think the problem is so easily fixable in baseball. You'd almost have to say if there's any doubt if it's fair or foul, run the play out and look over it, but I'm not so sure I'd like it.

I wouldn't have a problem with replay, I guess... I do like the human element of sports, but I would also argue that it made the NFL better seeing them get the calls right. Balls and strikes would be a very bad idea... where would check swings fall in there?

Beckett is ridiculous right now.

At least we agree that replay would be a good idea. Definitely on safe/out calls, definitely on homerun calls...am I missing something?

This is my worst nightmare. Beckett coming out and pitching like he's Sandy Koufax. I hate my life right now.

And Lowell with an RBI single. 4-0. There is a curse' date=' its Fenway for Lacky.[/quote']

I thought it was the Curse of Dave Henderson. Since his 1986 Game 5 HR, the Angels have yet to win a playoff game against the Red Sox.

Just think of how much you'll hate it when Wang comes out and struggles tomorrow! :D
