Look at it this way guys....Yanks have to lose sometime. Even with 8-9-10 game win streaks, which they cant do constantly, they still have to play something like .750 or .800 ball and the Sox have to simultaneously play .500 or less to finish with IDENTICAL records.

I forget the actual numbers the Courant printed earlier this month.

I saw that on BDD and for some reason thought it was construction. Then I realized where the holes were.

Is there any site that I can plug the numbers into to figure out based on potential wins and losses?

its called a calculator. lol.

After tonight (assuming yanks win and sox lose)

Sox 41-23 98 games left

Yanks 32-31 99 games left

start here

Anyone else hoping for a trade to get a CF' date=' even if it means parting with some pitching prospects.[/quote']

I vote for Ellsbury. Others do not, but I do not care what others vote for. :harhar:

I think he's this team's best option in a month or two and should be brought into the mix in a playoff run with the tremendous veteran leadership mixed with young talent this team has.

So if the Sox go....lets say a reasonable number is 59-39 to finish 100-62...in order to finish 101-61 the Yankees would have to go 69-30

Sox: 95-67 would have to go 54-34...more than reasonable

Yanks: 96-66 would have to go 64-35...not so much.

I like the Sox's chances...the point remains, though, they need to start playing better.

the rox are below .500 and in the NL.

And the Sox should win 2/3 against them.

Remember, those of you who are talking about the Sox winning percentage vs the Yankees winning percentage from here on out, even if the sox do slightly better than .500 and the Yankees do slightly worse than .585 or whatever it will still be a pennant race. We would be taking about winning the division by just a game or two. I would prefer to not get into a position where we are counting individual games, but, alas, I predict that is where we will be.

It's a long season, and the players in Boston and NY are not robots, there will be streaks and slumps. This is hardly a time to worry about a race or crown a champ.

The sad thing is that BDD put that up in spring of 2006 and it still applies.

So yeah...I was at tonight's game. I want to kill someone.

Lugo got deservedly booed off the field. So did Snyder. So did WMP when he struck out. And so did Drew when he struck out both times. Oh, Pineiro did too.

Sigh.

we're still playing ok

schill got torched and the O took another evening off

we got youk manny papi pedroia and lowell consistantly producing

tek is tek and we can take .270 with occasional pop and a decent obp

the rest of the crew??

jesus christ

lugo .211 crisp 221 drew 236 pena 238 hinske 175 and cora falling to .288 from 400 in 2 weeks it seems

am i being unreasonable by suggesting that each of the above(not cora) is a minimum 50pts below reasonable expectations?

i figured lugo for .275 with speed and 80-100 runs,honestly i did

i also figured crisp would bounce back from a real nasty break in his finger

he hasnt approached anything that resembled his 1st month on the field from last spring

and its evident he has lost his confidence....we can hide a dead bat if the others are bringing it but....well we have drew and with him hitting behind the best 3/4 combo in 4 generations you would have to think that by accident hed get 100rbi

i have no clue what his issues are and what scares me is i bet he dont either

expect some improvement for sure but how much and when it begins is anyones guess

pena is pena

he will be the same man in 5 years i feel

the guy is begging for 500abs but he cant hit consistantly enuff to make up for his juvenile impatience and horrifying outfield play..i wouldve given him a pop to make the starting 9 especially with all the young talent we have as well as eric hinske on the roster

instead they went for drew

anyways

we're all rooting for him but he cant get it done day in and day out nor will the front office and tito give him the ab's that he needs to develop

its a catch 22 that 1st place teams shouldnt be dealing with and i figure he or coco is moved in july

the fact that crisp is a fairly solid glove tells me its pena who will be moved for a journey man outfielder and a flame thrower for the pen ala jay payton or an aubrey huff type or something similar for the end of the season run

he cant be happy here when he knows hes capable of 30hrs

we cant be happy knowing he is more than likely to K with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs as opposed to getting him in via a sacrifice or whatever

Red Sox fans deserve better than this Schill. We seem to be in a trance and why the hell was Crisp leading off in the first place? Isn't it becoming clear that he can't do the job for us no matter where he bats, but at leadoff? I'm telling you to shitcan all this talk about Francona being patient; he is not, he is just plain stubborn and what the hell is Theo going to do now. Can we really keep sending Crisp and Lugo out there? Something has to be done or our lead will disappear like a fart in the wind.
