he doesnt throw 95 anymore. I dont expect him to be dominant by his fastball. What he is doing is locating the heat very well and then showing off his very strong off speed arsenal when he is ahead. His curve and splitty have been dynamite.

That's exactly the problem, in my opinion. In his start against Chicago, and tonight, he hasn't located his fastball well. Most of his fastballs have been hit hard, and he has pretty much stopped throwing them.

In regards to Clemens, he is throwing plenty of heaters. He is locating them early then putting the hitters away with the offspeed stuff. If he isnt locating the heat, he cannot get ahead and hence cannot use the offspeed stuff.

In terms of this game, we are decimating the Jays. They should not have thrown at ARod, they were down 1-0 at that time and that HBP opened a big can of worms.

In my opinion, he's been getting ahead mostly with sliders so far tonight.

EDIT: Or at least more then usual, and I think that's more due to the fact that he doesn't really have his fastball, rather than that he has an exceptional slider tonight.

EDIT 2: The first three pitches to Zaun (for example) were of the off-speed variety. The fourth was a poorly located fastball, and then the fifth was another splitter.

Roger showing the balls that had been missing on this team since he left. Right between the numbers. And Angle Hernandez, who by all accounts is one of the worst umpires in the game, doesnt let the players police themselves. f*** him. I am glad Clemens gave him an earful.

You can't really blame Hernandez. If the umpires sense intent after a warning is already issued, the pitcher and manager are supposed to be ejected. I would blame the rules, not the ump.

eh, Brower gets out of it. He's more of a filler IMO. I would have rather seen Edwar, but what can you do. I do find it odd that a s***** vet like Brower gets the callup and 2 consecutive days of work while Edwar, a young kid with better stuff and future, comes up and is left to languish.

But no warning should have been issued is my point. You give the edge to the team that initiated the incident.

Again, I'm not saying I disagree with that. All I'm saying is that I think you're blaming the wrong person. The umpires are supposed to issue warning in those situations. Blame the people making the rules, not the individual umpire.

By the way, Melky is really coming into his own from the left side of the plate.

kid looked good. Wouldnt mind seeing the curve or change mixed in. But he'll get results out of the pen with 2 pitches. I just dont like that many sliders on a young arm.

I guess they're really trying to stretch him out as a reliever...assuming he pitches the ninth. I agree, but I was really impressed with his ability to throw the slider for a strike. Obviously the most impressive thing was how he fell behind 3-1 on the leadoff batter, and then easily struck him out. I don't really want to pick apart his first appearance though, so we'll see how he progresses.

He is going to go through some tough times at some point, and the best part about Joba, in my opinion, is that he seems to have the right attitude to deal with everything.

Lots of nerves by Joba, but I think he'll settle in nicely. Phil Hughes showed nerves in his first outing as well and rebounded nicely. He's got great stuff, he spotted the fastball nicely a few times on the corner with great velocity.

I was here lastnight

haha, ok, but you know what I mean.

And in response to your post last night, the Yankees are playing well, the Blue Jays aren't "bending over". Contrary to what you may have thought, teams don't see the Yankees on their schedule and say "oh, well, it's the Yankees, we better play like s***".

Oh, common, why are the f***ing Blue Jays playing so hard against the Yankees?!?!?! I bet when they play the Red Sox or the Tigers they're going to let them win!
