All of Theo's draftee's are either still in the minors and in their low 20's, or they are Papelbon who is in the bullpen.

Lay off 700, the whole hating on every player under the age of 35 thing is getting tired.

I didn't know Papelbon, Beckett and Matsuzaka are 35. I like talented young major league ballplayers. Admittedly, I have little interest in following prospect-- most of whom will never make an impact with the Red Sox. Of the three guys in their 20"s that I like, only one of them came from the Red Sox system. I'd trade Bucholz and Bowden to get a front line established starter like Santana, Oswalt, Halladay, etc. To me that is a no brainer. Even if one of the kids becomes a star, we would be getting an All Star in return.

Agreed 100%, because those are the kinds of guys we hope the B's turn into.

Which is why I don't understand Jacko when he says he wouldn't trade Hughes for Santana.

Maybe so, but criticizing someone for not making a major league team when they can't even buy a beer seems foolish, no?

Besides, I stopped clashing with his view's a long time ago.

I am not criticizing the kid. He's just doing his best. Theo's remark just means very little to me. It's not like he's been around for twenty years and drafted guys who became All Star starters. Besides most of what GM's say about their prospects is complimentary so as to inflate their reputations.

The Sox bats woke up in this 6-5 win tonight, powered by the HRs of Manny, Drew, Youkilis, and Pedroia

Tavarez facing a good Phillies lineup (and in hitter's park) went 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, no walks and striking out 2

Good thing to see Tavarez pitching well...

Oh dear god how many times have the Phillies announcers said "gyroball" just in the 1st inning?

EDIT: Daisuke gets himself out of trouble after walking the first 2 batters, he then retires the 3-4-5 of Utlley, Howard, Burrell.

Yeaa Pedroia, he's starting to settle himself in. After clubbing a solo HR last night, he has just hit a 2 run single to give him 3 RBIs in this 2 game series

EDIT: That was weird they called for the hit & run with Pedroia on 1st base, Lugo gets a base hit with Pedroia able to ease on over to 3rd base

Couple-a ribs for Pedroi-er.

In the reg. season, would you want Tito to have Crisp steal second in that situation? I have to think the Phils would have IBB'd Pedroia with 1st open and the pitcher on deck.

Pedroia with a clutch 2 out 2 run single. Nice to see him start to hit.

I kind of thought he had been hitting the whole time. This is a guy who I've seen hit numerous line-drives and hard hit groundballs right at guys. This was a moderately hit gb up the middle on a pitch that fooled him. Very nice rally for the Sox here.

Daisuke seems to have a pattern of slow 1st inning starts, at least in his last few starts. He appears to settle down, but I wonder if that has historically been a problem for him.

He pitched very well to Utley and Howard (though Howard's shot would have been a double or gone at Fenway).

Good point. At home, yes. On the road, no.

What a shoestring catch by Coco!

Ease up guys: Im not starting to worry that he's gonna be a 75 walk pitcher. Japan's strike zone is bigger in the US and his fastball moves mostly up & in to hitters. Its all about transitioning, with his stuff it shouldnt be a long & tiring time for him to adjust

Castiglione indicated that, in addition to Papelbon, Theo also referred to Lester (who he didn't draft). You just LOVE to point out all of Theo's imperfections and I'm sure that, if given the chance, you would be a better GM.

Just polish up that resume so you can trade Clay Buchholz and Michael Bowden for a closer who has been successful for 120 MLB innings.

Nice catch Coco.

What's with the walks in his last two starts... big strike zones in Japan?

I don't think they called strikes that bounced ten feet in front of the batters box and riccocheted behind the batter!

I am listening on the radio so I don't know by how much he is missing. The reports on him are that he has good command. Five walks in 5 innings in his last start and 3 walks in 2 innings today are not not bearing that out.

I didn't see the last start 700, but, and take this with a grain of salt because it's coming from message boards, the bottom half of the strike zone was inexistant in that game. Dice-K seems to live right at the bottom of the zone, so that may account for something. Today, he just couldn't throw a strike to the 1st two batters, but has been better since.

I forgot what a Theo fanboy you are. Who is pointing out his imperfections. It just doesn't mean much for him to say that a guy has the best stuff of anyone he's drafted. Also, I said I would move Bucholz and or Bowden for a current top of the rotation starter. Only a fool would not with good ML starting pitching being at a premium.

I officially like J.D. Drew. I think he's going to have a great season.

I know it's only ST, but he makes the game look so easy. Our 3/4/5 is going to chew pitchers up.

oh my god Daisuke is going to suck' date=' way to go Theo on this acquisition!![/quote']Stop being a dick. I am listened to his last two games on the radio, so I don't see if he is missing by alot. If I ask a question about why he is walking so many guys, I am looking for information from those of you watching. I am not asking for a wise-ass remark.

If you remember, I was consistently in favor of Dice-K's signing throughout the entire process.
