White he had a very productive season in Portland' date=' .297 avg, 10 HRs, 50 RBIs.. defense has always been a stichler for him. If he wants to get even a sniff of consideration for 3rd base auditions (if Mike Lowell leaves) he needs to turn a complete 180[/quote']He made a very nifty stop spin and throw to 2B for a forceplay. Lugo congratulated him on the play.

yea donnelly was pretty solid. but it's too early still to judge anything. but hopefully what we saw tonite' date=' is what we get for the rest of spring training and the season too.[/quote']His motion looks much much funkier in person than on TV. Righties must hate facing him.

i thought donnelly looked great in the twins game. the key for piniero in my opinion is getting more sink on the fastball as opposed to the riding action he had. also, he's gotta keep it down in the zone. when he did that he induced a lot of grounders, but when he left them up, even with the good riding motion, the hitters could turn it around

700, you are our eyes and ears down there, so give me some feedback.

Is Ellsbury as fast live as he is on Memorex?

How did Pedroia look?

Romero looked good on mlb.tv, what did your eyes tell you at the park?

Ellsbury is a burner. Is he has fast as Crisp? It's hard for me to tell. I haven't seen Ellsbury run enough. I thought he looked a little overwhelmed in his first AB, but he just stood there so it was hard to tell. He put a good swing on his RBI single. He swung with more authority than I expected.

Hearing about Pedroia's weight loss I expected him to look thinner. He's definitely in shape, but he must have really been chubby last spring. By time I got down here last spring, he had been sent out so I didn't see him.

Lugo should hold down the SS position, but he will make the average plays look a little difficult. There's a stark difference between him and Gonzo who I realized waqs special from my first spring game last year. He made everything look so easy. When the ball was hit to SS with 2 outs last year, I would run to the bathroom or the fridge cause the inning was over. This year there will be a bit of trepidation this year ... at least initially until we get used to him.

I didn't see Romero. The first night I was down here only with my wife, and we left after Breslow pitched. Today my son is coming in, so Sat, Sun and Monday we will see full BPs and the whole game.

Youk is in the best shape of his career. I hope he doesn't think he is a power hitter now. In BP, he seemed to be trying to knock everything deep, but I didn't see anything leave the park. I think he still has warning track power. Also, the conditioning hasn't made him any faster.

I was talking to a guy during BP and we were swapping stories. I found myself sitting behind him because there a couple of guys sitting in my seats. I thought they were japanese press, which is all over the place. It's really hard to figure out how many people are follolwing Dice K, because they are not congregating in one spot. They are in different parts of the stands and the field. Anyway, the guy I was talking to told me that one of the guys in my seats was Dice K's agent. My new buddy told me he spoke japanese. When the two guys got up from my seats to leave, the said goodbye to my buddy. A couple of minutes after, my new buddy says "hey Larry" I turn around and it's LL. To my surprise, Larry stops and comes over and says hello to this guy. Long story short, this guy has been conversing with people in the know, and he believes they will extend Schill, but he told me that he had them pissed off in a major way a couple of days ago.

The game started and I got shooed away and back to my seats. I didn't even get his name, but I'll be looking for him tonight. It should be a mad house tonight with Dice K pitching.

Are you guys going to analyze every spring training at bat?

Maybe you shouldn't be on a red sox board if you are not interested in the Red Sox.

It's kind of sad if you analyze every spring training at bat, regardless of which team you root for, don't you think?

Are you all heartbroken your team is 0-2 in spring training? Come on.

A constant reminder that your team is second best? Yeah, it must suck for you, lol.

My bad, last year you were third. :harhar:

You've admitted your interest in baseball is limited to the big leagues, and that's fine. Other people follow it much more in depth, and it's refreshing to see the people we've only been able to read about due to geographics. So why don't you just STFU and let people enjoy the game however they see fit?

For those of you unaware, baseballchannel.tv - linked on the MLB mainpage - is airing the Sox vs. BC game free for all to see Matsuzaka's ST debut.

You could never understand having passion for a baseball team. You'll jump off the bandwagon midway through the season, anyway.

I found it a little too late. I'll have to wait until the top of the 2nd.

Peter McCarthy is on my TV. Should he be on?

He said they'll tune in again at the top of the 2nd.

He faced 4 batters, one hit, 2 K's.

lol ORS

I didn't get to see any of it. I just rushed home from work and only caught the bottom of the second and the stupid interview with Daisuke. I have to admit he's always an interesting interview, but I really think there has to be a better translator. Perhaps they could have two translators working simultaneously or something. I think the best is when they retroactively overdub his comments, so while he's speaking in japanese you can hear the english translation clearly. Two translators could do this, right?

Since I didn't see it, what was his outing like? Details please.

And Gom, not every at bat matters, but for a guy like Ellsbury (who I believe answered ORS's speed question in the bottom of the 2nd) or Pedroia a lot of off season debates are being put to the test with each and every at bat. I don't resent you for not understanding our obsession, but to be nerdy enough to be on a baseball site, but then insulting other people who are just more into it than you is pretty hypocritical.

Is it only okay to come here if you are a casual baseball fan?

Did YOU watch Philip Hughes' inning yesterday in Yankees spring training? I did. Weren't you interested to see the Yankees top prospect against MLB talent? I was.

The Reds had the most wins in spring training last year.

Where did that get them?

Leadoff double, then the stream cut in as the 2-hitter grounded out advancing the runner. He K'd the next two, spotting his FB right on the glove with a couple of nice sliders and changes mixed in. It was more of the same with some weak contact in the 2nd.

so the game's not on MLB.com? MLB.com blows. I'm dumping that sad piece of s*** package. Thank god I only ordered one month of it.

Settle down bro, NESN only covered an hour of the game so mlb.com only did too. NESN actually cut away to a Daisuke interview and cut away from the game early. That's why the game wasn't on.

Every other game is on (except for the FOX ones, depending on your market). It's a pretty damn good service if you have a nice computer and high speed IMO.

How about Elsbury's triple ORS? Pretty impressive, huh? I really think this kid will see time with the Sox if Crisp gets injured. Certainly in the playoffs.

Right now Im thinking the earliest we could see Ellsbury is around the All-Star break. The kid is only 22 so Id like to see him get as much Triple A experience as he can before he sets his sights on the Hub. As of right now, early in the season Alex ochoa seems to be the likely outfielder called up if need be
