Wrong 700!!! The guy is a good fielder who had one of the best fielding averages when he was at Arizona State and a damn good hitter as well, an unanimous All-American. His arm will more than adequate for second base as well as his range. As for the big swing it is much easier to tone a guy down who swings over aggressively rather than try to make an aggressive hitter out of a candy ass wimp who lacks that attribute. Hands? Excellent. He will be an above average second baseman for us for a long time and will probably hit better than 300 a few of those years.

Also of note Fred that by the time Pedroia was called up, he was simply exhausted like Youkilis was when September came. Dusty had 423 ABs in Pawtucket, by far the most he has played in a season.

Jackson I fully agree with your assesment on Pedroia. He should evolve into a team player, .280 - .300 hitter, .340 OBP or better, won't K a lot, 10 +/- HR power, not gold glover but steady none the less, and of course shouldnt cost a lot to keep him around. He's got the team backing him up and calling him the starting 2nd baseman, its time for him to prove he can become a player ready to serve in boston for years to come

Great point about Pedroia probably being fatigued by the middle of August when he was brought up. Sorry I didn't think of that myself especially when I have mentioned this as being one of Youk's problems last season. With good conditioning and a rigorous winter workout schedule for both they should be ready for a full season this year.

MDC is playing himself off the 25-man roster. Another multi-run outing featuring a 2-run gopher allowed to Hanley.

Jacoby triples' date=' again, and scores. I wonder if Coco's seat is feeling a little warm?[/quote']It would be great if they could move a package including Crisp for Ichiro who becomes a FA after the season.

He's slow and his range is merely average. I expect that he'll be average.

Seattle would want somebody who can play RF in return, and Coco can't. It would be foolish to trade WMP with Drew and Manny in the OF because there is the potential to miss some games there, and they need a good 4th OF, which WMP is. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, but I don't see a fit.

Hansen is following his partner in crime. 4 batters faced, a fly-out, 2-singles, 2-run double.....

I thought Ichiro will be playing CF this year and Guillen would be the RF.

That's right, I forgot about Guillen. Whatever they do, if they play up interest with Seattle, they need to get Putz involved.

Phoning Colorado........

Hansen's new nickname is, Mmm'bop. He's keeping it until he stops pitching like a 12 y/o pop-star.

Getting Putz involved would cause it to be a blockbuster deal with lots of Red Sox prospects changing unis. I'm all for it. I think our young pitching is over-hyped and MDC and Hansen will be exposed this year as being nothing special.

Delcarmen looks overhyped. No control of a secondary pitch. Still throws hard, but that's it. He's MR fodder.

Hansen's got the stuff, but he's a freaking pussy. I don't see this slider everyone's raving about. I remember seeing it in 2005, when he fanned two of the first three he faced, but where has it gone?

it has gone the way of his testicles. Into extinction.

2-run double for Ellsbury.

f*** it. Just make the move for Putz by himself and give the job to Jacoby.

From Shank Shaugnessy's blog...

Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell stayed back in Fort Myers to watch Craig Hansen and Abe Alverez, but made it to Jupiter in time for the start of today's game.

:dunno:

MLB's media sucks in ST, so maybe they got it screwed up. Mmm'bop better hope they did.

with Ellsbury going how he is, Coco's gonna go for sure, If Ellsbury plays in AAA how he is right now, Coco may be packing his bags around the Trade Deadline... would it really be that big of a surprise if that happened though...?

I like Coco but but Ellsbury's f***ing awesome, I can't wait to see this kid in the majors everyday... sorry Coco...

The Sox do need a long innings guy/spot starter, I wouldnt mind seeing Kyle Snyder getting that spot

Yeah, Snyder's brilliant with that 6.00+ ERA. He might be the closer in a month.

This bullpen sucks. Donnelly, and Okajama. That's it.

Here's a pistol while youre at it. I wasnt taking about him being the closer for us or set up men. Im just talking about long innings relief/spot starter. Like a role we wouldnt see him in each day

Times he was in there for 3 or 4 innings he was serviecable and had a very good K ratio.

You got to love those 77 hits in 58 innings. Those 11 HR's are going to look great, too. They'll probably fit in with Delcarmen's 20, or Timlin's 30.

I think a lot of people are writing off Romero too soon. He could be a contributor this year. From what I've seen, he looks like he's comfortable with his stuff, and he's had some pretty good success in the past. Third appearance of ST today, and he's been good in each.

sorry im looking through my posts where you think Im saying I envision him having consistent duty from the 6th to 9th innings

Do you specialize in being an idiot?

Kyle Snyder is terrible. He shouldn't have ANY role during the 2007 season. You're saying he should be a long reliever, I agree, but that role should be in Pawtucket.
