Ok all...time for another one of my fun posts.

For all you fans of both teams, who is your favorite player on the other side? The guy you secretly root for and wish was on your team? Please say why as well.

Now, I know there will be some morons who will say that they can't stand anyone on the other team. I already said it for you. Don't bother. Seriously.

Ok..I'll begin...being a Yankee fan....my favorite player has to be Manny. I was at the stadium when he threw the ball in the stands with two out [he thought that his catch was the third out] and Pedro was pitching. Pedro covered up his face with his glove, he was laughing so hard. I have season tickets out in the right field bleachers, and we kept chanting "You f***ed up! You f***ed up!". Finally he turned to us and raised his hands up in the air as if to say "Yeah, yeah, I f***ed up, I know" and he got a rousing cheer from us. You gotta love a guy like that.

That coupled with the fact that he is the most dangerous right handed hitter I've ever seen makes him my favorite on the other team.

I would take Derek Jeter for any team anyday of the week. He is the ultimate leader. I also like Hideki Matsui, he plays for the game and the fans, not the paycheck.

Jeter is the classiest guy there. He NEVER looks bad, in the media, on bad plays, at the plate... never.

Other players I respect: matsui, posada, rivera.

Jeter, as much as I hate him, I respect him and the way he plays the game. Plus he's still the last Yankee I want up with the game on the line.

Toss up, Mo and Jeter. Love both of them. Mariano laughing at the home opener at fenway because of all the applause he got was great

I'd have to say MO. He has been dominate but never been one of those annoying cocky guys. Anyone that can laugh at an applause you get at Fenway for blowing games is alright by me. Jeter is great, hes one of those guys you love to hate. Bernie is great presence, and a true ball player, even tho his skills have declined. Another one I alwaysliked watching pitch9 just not against the Sox) is Pettite. I remember the first game I saw him pitch( or its the oldest memory I have of him) was the game where it was snowing at the ballpark. I don't think I'll ever forget that. Growing up in Maine, I could totally relate to him at that very moment.

Great thread GOM, I'm glad everyone has responded so maturally, makes for some good reading:D

Mo and Bernie-- the two keys to the last championship teams. Bernie has been extremely underrated, but in his pirme he was more important to this team than Jeter. One of the big reasons thaey have not returned to championship form is Bernie's decline. When Mo finally goes, clueless Joe will revert to 4th place managerial style.

I don't root for any Yankee. I respect a lot of them and want a few on my team but there's no way I root for any.

I'd want Damon, Jeter, Mo, Wang and Abreu on my team, all for obvious reasons

Thank you. I also want to thank everyone for making this a good thread too. After all, deep down inside, we are all baseball fans, and can all relate.

Keep it coming, this has to be one of my favorite threads so far.

How about of all time?

I know a ton about Teddy Ballgame from a historical aspect. Never saw him play, but I think he is my favorite sock of all time. Fighter pilot, best hitter in a sox uni, national hero. The guy was the f***ing man. As for guys who I ever saw, I'd have to say Jim Rice. The guy was scary.

i hope the entire yankee organization catches the crabs from sheffields wife

matsui is the man

the guy apologizes to his team and the city of ny for breaking his hand diving for a ball

I realize Jeter is a good player, but i just can't like him. Maybe its the way he chews his gum, or the way he tells the Ump to "talk to the hand" before hes ready in the batters box, i dont know. I do like Mussina and Bernie a lot though. Bernie is a hippie and made an album, and Mussina is just so classy.
