100% agreed although they do have Hughes on the way. Thats our only major hope from the farm. I use to say I wouldnt trade A-Rod for anything however if the Angels would give up Lackey' date=' Shields and Kendrick and/or Brandon Wood I would show A-Rod the door. Or to the Dodgers for Billinglsy + others I would do it also.[/quote']

If the Yankees lose I imagine A-Rod is gone. It will be both interesting and ironic that A-Rod and Manny could be on the market during the same season again. The two guys who got the first 20+ million contracts unable to stay with their teams. Usually I would think A-Rods value would be higher than Manny's as he's younger and has greater position flexibility. However, A-Rod's lack of clutch abilities makes him questionable. Manny has performed very well when it matters over the past 5 years or so. He is also more consistent than A-Rod, but only by a hair and only as things stand now.

Hughes is a tremendous prospect and could be very good very soon.

Yeah I really dont see how A-Rod could come back here. Believe it or not hes actually had a worse postseason then last year. Trade him get a top pitching prospect that you can pair with Hughes.

Watching this makes me happy to have the names Beckett' date=' Papelbon, Lester (god willing), Buchholz, Bowden, Bard, Delcarmen and Hansen coming up. They're not locks, but they're the basis of an inexpensive and potentially dominant pitching team. Spend Red Sox money on the offense and you're looking at a good team.[/quote']I'm not happy with anything other than Papelbon and Beckett. The rest are either damaged, over-rated, or completely untested. The Sox need to spend a good deal of money on pitching both starters and relievers. Let's not forget that this Yankee team that is getting dominated by the Tigers completely trashed the Red Sox and its young pitching. If the Sox stand pat with their pitching, they will get their brains beat in in 2007.

How about Joe Torre' date=' do you think George has the balls to fire him?[/quote']

Everyone says Torre cant be touched but what exactly has he done in the past 3 years let alone 6 years to earn that? They tanked against the Red Sox, Angels and now the Tigers. I know Lou Pinella wouldnt put with what has gone on the past 3 days.

I do not mean to stereotype, but I do not understand how all New York fans think that someone else could do so much better than what they already have. I'm not sure what Pinella would have done differently. You can yell at your team all you want, but Joe Torre is one of the greatest managers baseball has ever seen and I do not think many people, especially those without jobs, can do any better. If you can't win with 200 million dollars worth of talent, Lou Pinella is probably not going to save the day.

Its not about what he would have done differently. Its the same voice that they hear prior to a big game and we are getting the same result for the past couple of years. Sometimes the same voice falls on deaf ears and based on todays disgraceful proformence I believe it has.

I don't believe in great managers. I've seen many bad managers. A good manager is one that doesn't get in the way to screw things up. The great managers are good managers with talented teams.

Good post.....I agree for the most part except....I think a manager can know his team well enough to put the players in a position to succeed. There are others who place certain players in bad roles and set them up for failure.

how about that random fan who ran up and stuck his face in the net next to Leyland after Leyland had kissed his wife and daughter through the net. That has to be one of the greatest video clips of all time, mostly because Leyland kissed the guys hat.
