Ok. I haven't started one of these in a long, long time. My mojo's been struggling in my last few thread creations, but I believe that I can put my mojo behind Jason Johnson and force a win out of our Sox today. Go Sox! Make me proud. Also, sorry abuot the small picture of Corcoran, there's no big ones of him. He was recently called up from Durham so there aren't many pictures of him to be found.

Devil Rays look to extend home success vs. Red Sox

Boston (50-31) at Tampa Bay (37-47) 7:15 pm EDT

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have made the return to intraleague play unpleasant for the Boston Red Sox.

Following a stretch of 14 wins in 15 games against opponents from the National League, the Red Sox will try to avoid a third straight loss to the Devil Rays on Wednesday.

After being victimized by All-Star Scott Kazmir's first major league shutout Monday, Boston was dealt a 9-6 setback Tuesday to lose for the fifth time in its last six games here. Tampa Bay's Ty Wigginton has homered three times in the first two games of this series after going without a home run in his previous 24 contests.

Wigginton and the Devil Rays next will face Jason Johnson (3-9, 6.22 ERA), who made his Red Sox debut by allowing five runs and six hits in four innings of a 5-2 loss at Florida on Friday to end Boston's 12-game winning streak. Acquired from Cleveland after being designated for assignment last month, Johnson has posted a 7.09 ERA in losing his last five starts.

The Devil Rays will counter with 28-year-old righthander Tim Corcoran (2-0, 1.17), who has sported a 0.75 ERA in winning both starts this season. In his most recent outing, Corcoran allowed three hits in seven scoreless innings of an 11-1 win at Washington on Friday.

Corcoran's work since having his contract purchased from Class AAA Durham of the International League on June 14 has been surprising considering how he fared in spring training. In 3 2/3 innings during March, Corcoran allowed 13 runs and 15 hits, resulting in a 29.45 ERA.

Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz homered Tuesday, giving him four blasts in as many games this month. Named a starter in next week's All-Star game, Ortiz is tied for the American League lead with 27 home runs.

Well, he's not a lefty so me thinks we'll score some runs.

By the way, after last night, the Sox have scored the most runs while allowing the fewest in the AL East.

Unfortunate that he gave up the run on an indoor hit. The ball doesn't bounce that well off of dirt and grass. That said, Johnson blows. This chucker doesn't deserve another start.
