Easily the most ridiculous accomplishment in the entire sport. There's like 4 or 5 marks/records that IMO will never be achieved again, and that tops the list. Many greats have gone without 1 no-hitter, or just 1 no-hitter, but some guy who's not even in the hall of fame pitched two straight.

These feats will never be accomplished again:

1. Vander Meer's 2 straight no-hitters.

2. Ty Cobb's .367 lifetime average

3. Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hit streak.

4. Walter Johnson's 110 shutouts.

I suspect that Ichiro's 262 hits in a season will stand, George Sisler's 257 hits used to be considered one of the most "unbreakable" records, and I don't think we'll ever see someone who racks up hits the way Ichiro does, but that's just my opinion. There's some that everyone knows will never be broken, like all of Cy Young's records.

I think the seond no-hitter was against the Brooklyn Dodgers in the first night game at Ebbetts Field.

Correct, it was 4 nights after no hitting the Boston Braves on June 11th, 1938.

I'd add Ted Williams career .482 OBP and Ruth's career .690 SLG.

Mark Buehrle was perfect for a game and a half. If Buehrle (mediocre stuff) can get close, it can be done.

I would put DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak at the top. With all of the bullpen specialists nowadays, pretty much impossible. Pete Rose is second, and his streak ended at 44. That's not even close.

Ripken's streak should be in there as well.

I disagree, you've got to realize that Rose could have had another small streak of like 13 games right after, he would have had the record, which makes it about as close to DiMaggio as Buehrle is to Vander Meer tbh.

Derek Lowe is no-hitting the Marlins through 6 innings. He's only allowed 1 walk in that time.

that same night, the Astros Bud Norris no-hit the cardinals through 6.2

took my kids to that game. dude sitting behind me started calling everyone he knew to brag that he was watching a no hitter.

then Pujols hit one to the deepest part of the yard that was caught.

he laughs and says "oops, i almost jinxed it"

next batter (Berkman) hit one out on the next pitch.
