  1. any suggestions as to where to find the most up-to-the-minute updates on signings by other teams? got a few i'd like to keep an eye on. thanks
  2. yeah, I watched it. SC is living a charmed life the last few games. I'm really indifferent to who I want to win. SC has already broken LSU's record for consecutive postseason victories. and with a win SC will join LSU as the only 2 SEC schools with multiple Baseball National Titles. I kinda like being the only ones in conference to do that. If Florida wins, they'll become the 1st SEC school with titles in each of the big 3 sports (baseball, basketball, and football). I was dreaming that one day we'd be good enough in basketball to be the 1st to do that.
  3. Louisiana ain't got that many Astros fans. People 55 and older are Cardinals (was closes team to here back then) or Yanks fans. For people under 40 or so, the Braves were the only team on TV (well them and the Cubs, but they always suck)on a regular basis as kids, so that's who they follow.
  4. that same night, the Astros Bud Norris no-hit the cardinals through 6.2 took my kids to that game. dude sitting behind me started calling everyone he knew to brag that he was watching a no hitter. then Pujols hit one to the deepest part of the yard that was caught. he laughs and says "oops, i almost jinxed it" next batter (Berkman) hit one out on the next pitch.
  5. LSU finished up a sweep over Cal St. Fullerton today. i'm really starting to like our weekend rotation
  6. LSU improves to 6-0 with a 14-3 win over Holy Cross today.
  7. LSU hosting Holy Cross for a 3 game series. Tigers win game one 12-3
  8. LSU' CF, Mikie Mahtook, is on the intial watch list for 2011 golden spikes award .417, 4 hr, 8 rbi
  9. LSU improves to 4-0 by beating UNO 13-0.
  10. other than our sweep, the only college baseball I heard about was the kid from ASU that broke his vertebrae and that James Madison hit like a billion home runs this weekend.
  11. LSU opened the season by sweeping Wake Forest 15-4 4-3 9-1 Weather was absolutely perfect all weekend. Temps in the 70's, clear skies, slight breeze. Only 3 games, so tough to really gauge a difference in the new bats. Mikie Mahtook homer twice in game 1 and 1 each in games 2 and 3. as a team, we hit 6 homers over the weekend, with Wake Forest hitting 2. Our young pitching staff had a good 1st showing. True freshman Gaussman was throwing 97 consistently, and touched 98 a few times. Today another true freshman (Kurt McCune) went into the 6th with a no-hitter. His final stat line was 6 IP, 1h, 0r, 0bb.
  12. Ranaudo threw out the 1st pitch for the LSU game today.
  13. Cecchini is a really good signing. all the reports had him leaning pretty strong toward LSU. while no where near 100%, we were fairly confident we could get him to stay. I never really doubted Ranaudo would sign. LeBlanc was a surprise until this morning. He's from a lil town about a half hour from here. talked to a guy that recruited him for another school, and found out he's got a wife (girlfriend?) and a kid already, so he was looking to make some money.
