yep, we own Boston this season. Thank God. Now if only we can do the same thing with NY.

I think we should keep Janssen in there to replace Towers and roll the Dice with Burnett for now. if these things can work out then i think our starting rotation will be one of the best.

Gustavo Chacin will go back on the disabled list after aggravating his elbow injury Friday against the Tigers.

The Blue Jays had to know they were taking a big chance when they brought Chacin back so quickly from a sprained UCL. It's possible that he'll need Tommy John surgery at some point. Scott Downs might replace Chacin in the rotation until A.J. Burnett returns in two weeks. Jun. 9 - 11:26 pm et

Hopefully we can gain some ground and put them behind us while their pitching is hurt. But it was their own fault, they rushed Chacin back and now they have to pay.

i really like how Gibbons uses B.J Ryan. In a lot of tight games, he is not afraid to bring Ryan in to get a 4/5/6 out save. That's the way it should be done.

Ya and if he keeps doing it Ryan will be burned out by August

Paps should be a starting pitcher. I think he can take 90 innings (?)

yeah should be but he's not , it dosent matter if you are a starting pitcher or not ,working out of the pen is a different story

nah, you guys should keep paps where he is now. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. who will close for you then if he becomes a starter? Only Foulke, IMO.

Ryan is fine right now. He gets rest when he absolutely needs it. I believe Baltimore used him much more last season than he's being used right now, didn't they?

Sucks about Chacin, but Burnett will be back in just over a week. He pitched 5 hitless innings in his rehab start and with no pain. Good start. I'd keep Chacin out for at least a few more weeks. Casey Janssen's doing just fine right now as it is.

you must be looking at just the win lost record for chacin ,the guy sucks its not a big loss, look at his stats he has a 5.61ERA 1.50 WHIP 4BB/9 IP , horrible stats , the only reason his win-loss record is good he is getting an average of 7.7 runs per game on his starts  any pitcher with that much run support should at least have least have 8-9 wins in 10 starts and he only has 6

I know he's had most of his wins off of run support, but i really believe he's an above average pitcher and i expect that after he's healthy you'll see a much better pitcher. Plus, he had two bad outings that sent him on the DL which inflated that ERA a bit.

Yahhhhh!!!

Burnett's back and looking pretty good in his return start. I think he's here to stay and if he does get injured it may be at the end of the season, if at all. I have strained scar tissue as well from surgery and its very rare to happen twice in a row, let alone 3 times.

the race in the east is going to get much tighter i think ;) i see the Yanks dropping back a bit

wait til he pitches against a real team , come on the braves who are on a 10 game loosing streak , its not much to brag about , wait til he pitches against a good offense, and it wouldnt surprise me either if he is out again soon cause comming up to this start he had some elbow problem

That is true, but strained scar tissue is a random and usually few and far between problem. as i said i've had the same problem with scar tissue and in 3 years i've strained it twice..after awhile, it goes away with no lingering side effects. granted its happened to him twice, but he's been in the minors pitching a couple times and has had no problems.

As for pitching against a real team, yeah the braves suck right now, but I'm pretty sure that a pitcher with a good selection of pitches, and a velocity of 96-98MPH can hold his own against any offense.

yeah if he has good location, its all about location it dosent matter how hard you throw , if i remember correctly the sox pounded him pretty good in his previous start cause he kept throwing dead center 98MPH fastballs

The same can be said for Beckett with his fastball consistent at 95+. Its all about location and him relying on his fastball too much

It is about location, that is true. To his credit, he was bothered by his injury against the sox that time around... that's not to say that at his best he won't get pounded again against the Sox.

His location was almost spot on last night, throwing fastballs cutting the corners of the plate, and dropping heated sinkers right in the zone to strike out quite a few batters. i think he K'ed 7 in 6IP. not bad. Yes yes i know, its the braves

Alright, best 1-2-3 pitching lineup in the majors right now. Burnett's doing even better than Halladay right now.

Now if only the Sox would lose a couple...dammit.....

Are you sure? If you're going to say something about Burnett already, then I'm allowed to say something about Lester. Besides, who's your number 3 that makes you the best 1-2-3 in the majors?

Lester-Beckett-Schilling have been doing pretty damn well.

Best 1-2-3 in baseball? I didn't know the Jays moved to Detroit and started calling themselves the Tigers.

yep i was talking about lilly. He can do what he's done to the Sox against other teams too you know. He's been off and on this season, but in his last 3 he has an ERA under 2, and he's pitched deep into games.

Granted Burnett hasn't pitched much, but he's just dominating batters... and Halladay is Halladay. Yeah its early, but what the hell, annoying people is fun sometimes ;)

Sox and Tigers have good combo's too.

I have to agree with you. Burnett will have a sub 3.00 ERA this year. Once he learns to throw his pitches for strikes, and his early indications are that he is now doing that, he will be a dominant pitcher.

Schilling, Beckett, Lester, and Wakefield... now thats a playoff rotation. Ahem is it now 15 straight games our starters have held teams to 3 runs or less? ;)

pretty odd considering Riccardi usually chooses his words carefully. he's starting to feel the heat no doubt

usually chooses his words? I dont find that all. I remember last year he called out burnett to stop being a pussy and pitch
