  1. Matsuzaka's a really strong pitcher. I think he'll be like this nearly all season
  2. maybe the jays are better than you think I dont know, Chacin is hit and miss (literally). some days he's really great, others he cant stop anyone from hitting off of him. I just hope both of us embarass the yankees this year
  3. The ante needs to be upped because Vernon is worth a lot more now than his previous contract paid him.. for every player who improves a better contract should be made. there's no contradiction yeah players don't always tell the truth...neither do ESPN people. cap space was cleared for him first and foremost
  4. OK i give up..... Vernon wells went on TV today in an interview and said the ESPN report about him turning down a contract extension was totally false and that he's never gone to management rrequesting a trade. He says that if the blue jays up the ante a bit, he'd be more than willing to stay... That's all..i'm done in this thread..dammit
  5. http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story/?ID=174693&hubname= Looks like i'm going to eat my own words.. should have waited an extra day before i decided to post my first comment on this thread I hope a good starting pitcher and a good fielder comes back in return. Wells is worth it considering he's the complete package aside from the odd slump..but who doesn't go through that?
  6. Hate to break it to you guys but Wells most likely will be sticking with the Jays.. he's part of the core that this team has been built around. Glaus was signed to take pressure off Wells by him batting behind him at #5. He's stated he wants to play here and this is also the reason why Ricciardi has traded Schoeneweise and Hinske..to clear more room for a contract extension for wells, catalanotto, and another starter.
  7. actually Vernon's been out the last couple days with back problems..
  8. i'm just glad that the tumor has been removed from Toronto;s clubhouse and that we get a potential star setup man to boot. Wont miss Chulk. best of all...he;s in the NL on a non contending team now so none of us have to deal with him anymore
  9. and the Yankees lose again!
  10. lots of "if's...."
  11. jaret wright not doing too well....
  12. actually the east will get really interesting in the 2nd half...considering that injuries as of now may not be as bad as they were in the first half. i'd say 95 to win the east as well.. The White sox may slip just enough... is it just me or does Tampa look good all of a sudden? The orioles may be the bottom feeders after just one series in the 2nd half.. Orioles.....bottom feeders......
  13. The only problem i have with Liriano right now is that he's pitched about 40 innings less than the average starter... yeah i know.. for obvious reasons. If he maintains a low ERA after that...then i'd say he's a great pick for Cy young. 1 bad game for him though will make him lose a lot more ground than those starters who have pitched much longer. Halladay's not so undeserving, but he's not doing the best right now. His ERA is 2.92 right now though, and he's pitched 130 innings and has had as many (or less) starts than the average starters. Papelbon would be my pick right now as things stand.
  14. Seen who pitch? Liriano? yeah i've seen him pitch. it was really impressive to watch. I'm just saying it'll be tough to get CY young in his first year, but if i he does, then its nothing short of amazing. Papelbon i've seen pitch many a time
  15. it'll be tough for Papelbon to win the CY young as a closer. He pretty much can't afford to give up more than another run in the second half to have a chance. I really think that the voters easily overlook closers and primarily put importance on the starters. Liriano's doing great too, but i don't know... if he only does better in the 2nd half then good on him, but i don't think he will keep it up. I think that as teams see him pitch and learn about him more, he won't be able to compensate for that.
  16. Come on guys...you know how the judging works.. Halladay will win Cy Young again because he's battled back from a slow start to pitch at CY young level again Can't take anything away from Papelbon though. he's pitching awesome. Ryan's ERA doubled as soon as he gave up those two ER's last week...not sure what happened there... He was at 0.45
  17. yep i was talking about lilly. He can do what he's done to the Sox against other teams too you know. He's been off and on this season, but in his last 3 he has an ERA under 2, and he's pitched deep into games. Granted Burnett hasn't pitched much, but he's just dominating batters... and Halladay is Halladay. Yeah its early, but what the hell, annoying people is fun sometimes Sox and Tigers have good combo's too.
  18. Alright, best 1-2-3 pitching lineup in the majors right now. Burnett's doing even better than Halladay right now. Now if only the Sox would lose a couple...dammit.....
  19. I have to admit the sox are doing really good. Its frustrating trying to gain on the sox when they seem to have everything going their way, but props to the Blue Jays and Yanks for keeping it relatively close. I can't wait for the Sox to lose a couple more here and there soon. I have a feeling the opening game against florida will snap their winning streak. Not just because its the next game, but because of the pitching matchup
  20. Man this is BS... I'd like to see some players from other teams play in the all-star game than have them mostly come from two teams. i've voted by the way, and i think there's a lot more deserving players than some of the one's put up now. Especially at Catcher position. WTF?? Any doubt that i wouldn't watch the all-star game may now be gone.
  21. It is about location, that is true. To his credit, he was bothered by his injury against the sox that time around... that's not to say that at his best he won't get pounded again against the Sox. His location was almost spot on last night, throwing fastballs cutting the corners of the plate, and dropping heated sinkers right in the zone to strike out quite a few batters. i think he K'ed 7 in 6IP. not bad. Yes yes i know, its the braves
  22. That is true, but strained scar tissue is a random and usually few and far between problem. as i said i've had the same problem with scar tissue and in 3 years i've strained it twice..after awhile, it goes away with no lingering side effects. granted its happened to him twice, but he's been in the minors pitching a couple times and has had no problems. As for pitching against a real team, yeah the braves suck right now, but I'm pretty sure that a pitcher with a good selection of pitches, and a velocity of 96-98MPH can hold his own against any offense.
  23. Yahhhhh!!! Burnett's back and looking pretty good in his return start. I think he's here to stay and if he does get injured it may be at the end of the season, if at all. I have strained scar tissue as well from surgery and its very rare to happen twice in a row, let alone 3 times. the race in the east is going to get much tighter i think i see the Yanks dropping back a bit
  24. well, you may now be with the Jays after this game...although the twins just blew a golden opportunity
  25. I know he's had most of his wins off of run support, but i really believe he's an above average pitcher and i expect that after he's healthy you'll see a much better pitcher. Plus, he had two bad outings that sent him on the DL which inflated that ERA a bit.
