    MINNEAPOLIS -- AL batting champ Joe Mauer and the Minnesota Twins agreed Sunday to a four-year contract worth $33 million, avoiding salary arbitration and ensuring one of the team's young stars will be in uniform for the long term. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2762203 I think its a good deal for 8.25 mil a year, especially considering the huge contracts that players have recieved this offseason

    http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/9987156 Bernie doesn't want to accept a minor league deal and says he probably won't play for the yanks in 07. I'm surprised he doens't just retire, it would be really weird to see Bernie play for another team...

    With the exception of Pena, the bench is terrible offensivly. This could be problamatic throughout the season espically if a starter were to get injured. The starting lineup and rotation are great and could be even better if guys like Beckett and Crisp produce the way we thought they were going to last year. I'm excited about the team, and can't wait for the season to begin!

    bad source, but i can see it being true. I think that there is a little pressure on the Sox just to sign Schilling because of what he has done for this team and how he put it all out on the field. Either way, i expect the Sox to sign him for '08 and go into the season without any drama

    I don't see him having as tough of time as Beckett did this year and i wouldn't be surprised to see if D-Mats finishes up with 15-16 wins and a 3.5-4 ERA. I think that right out of the gate, he will win the majority of his starts simpily because no one has really seen him before. I expect a good season this year, with him getting more and more domiant as he gets used to the league and gets some experience under his belt.

    I love all of Gammons work. This would be an awful blow to baseball if he was gone! Please get well Peter!

    I feel bad for him, because he wanted to make a good first impression on the team and he has to deal with Ozzie. That isn't a great way to start your career

    Hopefully we can gain some ground and put them behind us while their pitching is hurt. But it was their own fault, they rushed Chacin back and now they have to pay.

    I don't know, i would love to give kelvim escobar a shot because i just think he would do well here. But if they don't go after escobar i will expect them to try and get Hernandez. Theo will get it done..
