I'm kinda getting sick of the chant. I mean, it's okay if it's at Fenway against the Yankees I guess, but not when we're playing other teams. Yesterday I heard a Yankees suck chant going on at a Giants-Brewers game. Now that's crazy...what do you guys think about the chant? :dunno:

it is spawned out of years and years of jealousy. Keep it coming. Nobody cares about you if you are a losing franchise, but everyone hates you if you win. I hope to hear it at every game around baseball. Keep em comin sox fans...

Your a f***ing idiot. Read the post. Is the only reason you're here to piss us off? You apply to a famous quote made here on talksox....

I'm not a huge fan of the chant personally but I don't really get bothered by it. I personally wouldn't do it if I were at the game though.

Are you sure about that chant at the Giants/Brewers game? I heard "Barry sucks", but never "Yankees suck." I am not opposed to the chant. As far as what TheRivernator says, it's not out of jealousy. We could care less what New York did years ago. RIGHT NOW, the Yankees suck. Enough said.

yeah, ok, then why are they ahead of you in the standings? Does that mean that you suck worse?

You'd think people who dislike the Yankees would have come up with something more creative by now. I mean, there is plenty of room for improvement.

Wasn't it in Cleveland (or maybe it was Toronto) last week where Sox fans started chanting "Let's go Red Sox" then the home team's fans started chanting back "Red Sox Suck". Then both sides got together and started changing "Yankees Suck"?

It was funny as hell. I have no problem with it at all.

Well look at it this way.

Yankees 2000

Yankees with improvement in 2006, hasn't won since.

Okay, the sox didnt win for 86 years. They finally won, now they havent won in a year. RED SOX SUCK much worse....

Haven't the Yankees spent over a billion dollars on payroll since there last title. Riv I wouldn't talk because the Yankees haven't backed up anything lately.

Hey, we're doin as good as you guys. And even if the Yankees did suck, your post still doesnt hold any water. The Royals suck. Do you hear Royals suck chants? No. It's because the Yankees are the most successful team in all of sports and everybody else is envious. I will admit, it does piss me off when I hear it at other games. Especially when its at a Sox game when the Sox are plating somebody other than the Yankees. All it does is prove mine and Johnny Damon's point that the Sox fans are more interested in the Yankees losing than the Sox winning. Thats simply all it does. It's something I pointed out since i've joined talksox, and it's the truth.

Damn, this is another thing i'm tired of. You guys were faced with an 86 YEAR drought. We havent won one in 5 years and you act like we've gone decades and decades without a championship. Please, 5 years is nothing. With 30 teams in the league, going 5 years without winning a championship doesnt bother me when I look back at it. As far as i'm concerned you guys have no room to talk any s*** until year #86 that we've gone without a championship.

And hey, I think the improvement Optimist was talking about was in regards to anti-Yankee chants, not the team that's out on the field, dumbass.

Pretty much. And while we're on the subject of standings, another petty thing the people of Red Sox Nation pulled was having the Red Sox listed above the Yankees in the A.L. East standing on the Green Monster on Monday, when the Yankees were in fact leading in percentage points. Good job calculating the standings there, jackasses.

A nice Yankees/Red Sox arguement has made my day. :D

Refer to my above post. Does anyone give two shits about what some teams have done in the past? Maybe in a different situation but not here. Half of the yankee players on the 26 world championship teams are dead. The future is NOW! The Red Sox are NOW. 2004>2000. Get over yourself dumbass.

ehh, everything is the past depending how you look at it, 2004 was the past as was 2000, but if the Yankees were to win this year, I would see a stop living in the past in 2010, though in the sence of when it is, it still wasn't the past that could be conciderd the next great future when its onl;y been several years yet then.

And I didn't use my brain once in typing that:lol:

Not to get techincal, but the Red Sox do own a 1-0 tiebreaker over the Yankees.

Posted

2004 means more than 2000, since it was more recent, and we have more people left over on our team than the Yankees do theirs (I think...).

But anyways, this is a f***ing gay argument. The past aint mean s***. Get the cocks out of your ass and mouths and youll realize that. The Yankees have obviously been the better team over the whole spectrum of baseball but as of right now, Red Sox > Yankees.

the chant is really immature of us at this point, the dumbass antics people put on at damon's return only proves further we arent the greatest fans at times

Actually....I'm 100% sure some poeple hate thew Yankees more than they like their teams, as I know of at least 15 here

Well I feel that 6 years is a fair timetable to look at to take the past, present and future into account. In the past Six years my team has won 1 World Series Championship, 3 American League Championships, 6 American League East Championships, 6 American League Playoff Appearances, 1 Cy Young Award Winner, 1 American League MVP Award Winner, 3 100 Win Seasons, and 31 All Stars (Some Players Counted Multiple Times because of Multiple ASG Appearances). You guys on the other hand only have 1 World Series Championship, 1 American League Championship, 0 American League East Championships, 3 American League Playoff Appearances, 0 Cy Young WInners, 0 American League MVP Award Winners, 0 100 Win Seasons, and 20 All Stars.

And even if what you claim in your post is the case, it still doesnt hold water. We've heard Yankees Suck chants for years. Before 2004, that's for sure. All through the Yankees recent dynasty run when they were winning championships the chant was still around. So what was the justification and reasoning for it then?

Red Sox > Yankees? How do you figure? You dont have a lead on us in the standings, thats for sure. We've scored more runs than you guys and out win % is better. Re-think that one.

And if the past doesnt mean anything and the present is all that matters, what was the deal during the 90's when you guys werent too great and we were winning championships. The chant was around then too.

What's the point in arguing? Despite all your points, the division won't be settled in May.

Yes, Red Sox > Yankees, as of right now. The way I see it, if we're tied in standings and the Red Sox are 1-0 vs. the Yankees I'd say we're the better team as of right now. But whatever, its a stretch to say that anyways, but I dont care. Like Crespo said, the division wont be settled in May.
