As long as the Yankees exist, 99% of the country is going to hate them, and they're going to say they suck. Get over it.

Thats not even true though. The Yankees have the largest National fanbase as well as international fanbase. It doesnt seem that way the last year or two, but for as long as I could remember before that, that was the case. Whenever the Yanks are on the road half the ballpark is filled with Yankee fans.

Half the Yankee fans here hate Boston more than they like their team too.

NOT TRUE.

But thanks for admitting that you're one of the SOx fans who hate the Yanks more than you like the Sox.

I hate the Sox, but its not obsession like with you guys. NESN has as much Yanks coverage as it does Sox coverage for christ's sake (obviously an exxageration. But doesnt seem like it). Sox fans have all these stupid anti-Yankee shirts (granted, Vinny has a bunch of anti-Sox shirts outside the Stadium, but not nearly as many). And Yankee fans dont start Boston Sucks chants when we're playing the Tigers or the Blue Jays. You guys get ridiculous with it.

I mean, there are very few fans alive who had to watch every one of the Yankee's 26 championships, but everyone is reminded of them in the presence of a Yankee fan.

Just because we didnt see them doesnt mean they dont exist and we should ignore them. Thats like saying ignore anything that happened before you were born. And telling us not to be proud of our past championships is like telling Americans not to be proud of the Revolutionary War victory and gaining our indepedance or something. If ignoring the past is what you want us to do, then you've got another thing coming. s***, if that's the case, then every Sox fan who didnt see Ted or Yaz play cant say ANYTING about them, or cant stake any claim to Cy Young. These arguements are not about ourselves, they're about our teams. Teams dont begin and end with our existance.

I mean they are putting up a new 300 million dollar stadium within the next few years!!

Actually, it's $800 Million. And so what. Its a Stadium. Lots of teams privately finance their own stadiums. Only reason the organization is financing it themselves is because they know they wont get any help from the city after all that happened with the Jets' Stadium fiasco.

What the f*** are you talking about? I obviously don't.

And I wasn't talking to you, either, but way to jump out and make random accusations. I know you, and I know you like the Yanks more than you hate the Sox, but there are Yankee fans who hate the Sox more than they like the Yankees, it's not just Sox fans hating the Yankees.

By the way, if a new member joined this site not knowing anyone they might think you were one of those people based on your username. ;)

They are free to make that assumption. They would soon learn from my posts that that isnt the case. My username was made out of my hatrid for the Sox. Not my obsession.

But anyways, I tend to see more Sox fans hating the Yankees over rooting for the Sox than the other way around. You guys devote wayyyy too much attention to the Yankees in Red Sox World.

He said to expansion teams.

Oh, so if you lose in the World Series, they'd need to have been around for 100 years, or else its trumped?

Good teams make the World Series, it took the D-Backs 1 year to be a 100-win team, and they were damn good, Marlins were around for ten years when they made it vs us, and thats about 8 years to get ready, so I really don't see that point of who they played

Well, Out of all the Yanks fans I've ever met, known, getting to know, I have never met anylike that, and I feel the reason is, why would we need to. I understand that for the greater part of a century, the Sox were in the Yankees shadows, and many Sox Fans raised their children(who are my age) to hate the Yankees, and that its just caught on, and now some hate them more. I mean, I hate the Sox, but more than I love the Yankees? No, because I really have no reason to, the Sox have had 1 moment in my life that was great agenst the Yankees....and I'm sure theres other teams that have done worse for me to hate them about.

And the other day, out of 10 Red Sox fans asked at my school if they would:

A. Have the Red Sox win the World Series

or

B. Have the Yankees not make the playoffs(and Sox not win the WS)

it was split, 5-5, and no, I'm not kidding what-so-ever

Holy crap, did you not get the point!

I didn't say that we should neglect the past, and I think it is meaningful, but that has nothing to do with my point. I think Yankee fans have just as much to do with the Yankees suck chant as Yankee success does. Everyone knows they have won 26 championships, but doesn't stop Yankee fans from rubbing it in everyone's face whenever they get the chance. The number isn't annoying, but being a prick like that is.

Hey, a non-scientific poll taken from 10 high schoolers. Clearly that is a representative sample of all of New England.

But, a perfect example of the point I was trying to prove.

I'm not trying to say all Sox fans are, or even 10% are, but some are, and thats what I was displaying by showing the Sox fans in my schools choice.

"The Yankees have won more world championships "

Just making an assumption here, but haven't they also yielded more world championships to expansion teams than any other team has, as well?

Thats just because we have more opportunities to. Seriously, not trying to be a prick, but when a team is in the World Series as much as the Yankees, they're bound to lose to an expansion team a few times. But regardless of if it's an expansion team or the Philadelphia Phillies who have been around forever, theyre still Major Leaguers who can play the game. How old the team is has nothing to do with winning a championship. If you can play, you can win.

it doesnt matter its only 2 words that people are letting them bother them way to much

"26 to 6"

"1918"

"Boston Sucks"

"Who's Your Daddy"

..those chants were enough to furiate Red Sox fans for YEARS. Especially 1918. How come when you guys chant "Yankees Suck" we should just turn the other cheek, but when we do/did our chants, its a big thing.

Wanna say Giambi is a juicer? ok. AROD is poser and a primadonna? fine. Sheffield is a lieing sack of s***? great. Joe Torre picks his nose? fantastic. All of these are supported in fact.

He does not. His fingers refuse to go up there for fear they might get lost.

hahah  i'm just playing. Nobody loves Torre more than I do.

I wish the Sox had been in the World Series 39 times. Seriously, I get sick of people who first meet me and see my Sox gear and always ask me "so how did it feel in 2004?" I really don't want that to be the only year in my lifetime that the Sox win or were in the World Series. As far as Ruffing's poll results are concerned, that is quite sad, and the same type of s*** that gives me a bad rap. I have a kid in my school who wears a Red Sox hat, but could care less about the actual sport itself. He only wears the hat because he hates the Yankees. Does that even make any sense? It pisses me off. I don't care who the Sox beat in the postseason to win a championship. I even said the same thing in 2004. I remember Chris Berman, that jerkoff trying to convince everyone that if the Sox won the World Series without beating the Yankees how in someway the championship would be diluted. Now that was the dumbest comment I've ever heard from someone. So do we have to beat the Yankees everytime to win a pennant? Or else it's not winning a pennant? Lame. The bottom line is winning, thats the only fruition you strive for in sports. Yes, you enjoy the actual sport itself, but when you compete, you want to win, period. End of rant.

They could win the World Series this year, next year, the year after. They could win 150 games in a season; it would be beside the point.

Yankees Suck.

I believe you. I have just yet to meet one of them. I'm sure they exist though.
