1. Papelbon

2. Foulke

3. Delcarmen

4. Timlin

5. Tavarez

6. Seanez

Dear Terry Francona,

Please don't put Rudy Seanez in a close game. It is pretty obvious that he can't handle pitching in Boston and needs to be released from the team. If you are going to use him, please make sure we have at least a 10 run lead.

That is all, Thank you.

Seanez should be tied up and left in his hotel room in Tampa until the yankees leave town. He isn't fit to pitch BP.

You can't disregard the best player in the bullpen.

"Disreagrading Micheal Jordan the Bulls sucked in the 90's"

You know what eles is funny "disregard Mariano Rivera and the Yankees Bullpen ERA is probally better"

Disregarding Papelbon, the sox bullpen's era is a solid 5.00...

Why do you always do this? Why? Why do you exclude the good to make the bad look worse, always always always. God its annoying. Disregarding your best pitcher who is a part of your bullpen, your bullpen isnt as good. Thats bush league. Stop doing that.

Edit - but for a taste of your own annoying manipulation: Without seanez the sox bullpen is a solid 3.

It is a measure of middle relief. You always disregard the closer when you want to determine how strong your bridge is. It isnt like I said, disregarding your best middle relief guy, your middle relief is X. No, I am disregarding your closer, who relies on the bridge to gets his saves. It was a measure of the bridge, not the closer....

Well, since it looks like Seanez is now the mopup guy, he won't be bridging so ksushi is right to omit him from the reliever group, no?

Whats the word with Riske? I think he threw his first bullpen session today. Hopefully he'll be in Pawtucket soon.

I heard another week and a half then he will go out on a rehab assignment to Pawtucket.

fine, be that way, if you want to stay ignorant, and I am using that term for a reason here. If the point is to measure how good a bullpen is, the closer must be included. If the point is the bridge to the closer, ie the middle relief, how can u use the closer in that equation? You don't. Get my drift junior? Your pen overall is top 6 in the AL. Your middle relief is horrible overall. Better?

Not really, I mean if our bridge is soo terrible then how did that bridge transport Papelbon into 10 saves? More than double of Mo's?

your starting pitching was its own bridge for awhile and Timlin has been great....

There have been times this season where Keith Foulke has been very effective and Julian Tavarez can put up a fight. The whole bullpen can't have a 0.00 ERA, it just doesn't happen. Relievers go hot and cold throughout a season but so far I would have to say the only real draw back has been Rudy Seanez. However, he has been able to strikeout a lot of guys and usually comes within one out from getting through his inning.

Eh, I'd like to agree with you. But I think that a solid way of measuring how strong your bullpen is, outside of statistics, is how good you feel about them coming into a game with a one-run lead...and I'd be lying to you if I said that I don't damn near s*** myself everytime we're up a run and Seanz, Tavarez, or pretty much any of those jobbers besides Timlin and Pappy come in. That's why we pretty much NEED our starters go to 7.

Thats true with a lot of teams.....mostly I just want the middle relievers to keep us in the game. I have to blame the loss last night to Keith Foulke...before he got crushed his three previous outs were high fly balls (means he didn't have his stuff). But it wasn't long ago he went a few scoreless innings for us.

I say with a one run lead I want to feel comfortable with our setup man and closer. A one run lead doesn't mean too much unless you get to the end of the game. I feel very comfortable with our closer and setup man....Tavarez has some nice movement on his pitches and I would expect him to do alright. Like I said with Seanez...he always gets so close to being out of the inning....

These guys may not come around and get on track but thats why we have a farm system loaded with talent incase later in the season the issue needs to be addressed. I wouldn't give up hope on them yet.

I think Foulke is between where he was in 2004 and last yr. He likely wont regain the 2004 form as he had a bulldog mentality and I do not think he possesses that anymore. BUT, he is not the guy to bring into a 1 run game. He's a guy you give at least a 2 run cushion to, because his stuff makes a 2 run homer likely....

Oh yeah, definitely looks like you were just talking about the bridge.

A good deal of that high ERA is from Seanez's 9 Runs in 9 innings.

Anyways, Papelbon's main setup man is Timlin who retains a 1.54 ERA. Foulke is steps up from what he was in 2005, and has also become Tito's "lefty" out of the pen.

Speaking of lefty out of the pen, the sox will likely be in the market for one, and I wouldnt be surprised if they nabbed Guardado out of Seattle. He has been just plain awful this yr, and it could hurt to take a flier on him...
