Yeah, I mean on the assumption he is the opening day starter you could bust out your calendar, but I guarentee it will change between now and then. Rain outs, Injury, guys getting their starts bumped all the time can will definetly change the way the rotation is set.

If you are smart, you will buy tickets to the whole series now (assuming you can), because that will be one expensive hot ticket as it becomes apparent which game he will be pitching in. You can always sell the extras, there's always demand, and even sell the whole series if it turns out he won't pitch.

Applaud. No questions asked.

Yep, he's an applause all the way. He didn't really wrong the Red Sox by going to the Mets. I STILL don't think the Mets were smart about it, but we'll see in a year or two.

If you don't already have tickets to the mets game, you're going to have to pay a ton to get them even now. I imagine that was one of the top 2 or 3 series NOT counting the Yankees this season. Good luck with that. I'll just pop open a cool one and watch from here (across the country in Portland, OR).

There would be no reason to boo, the mets made Pedro a much better offer, and he pitched 8 great seasons here, i rarely missed a game that he pitched in. He will get my appluase

Anyone who boos Pedro should be thrown out of Fenway. Pedro will always be a legend in Red Sox Nation, and unless he takes a s*** on the mound theres no way he should ever be booed at Fenway.

Oh i was always under the impression that pedro left off on a bad note with the sox my bad

in that case i would applaud him

itd be cool to see him play in the wbc (seeing as hes one of the few outstanding DR pitchers but idk i was reading somewhere that his injury might keep him out of it

It is kinda funny how we will applause Pedro (I would), but have all this hate and animosity to Damon (I do), who really did the same thing Pedro did. I think the big difference is that Pedro didn't go to the Yanks, which really makes what Damon did tough to swallow (though I am sure his wife will be doing plenty of that).......oh, sorry that probably wasn't called for.......:)

As you all probably know, the Red SOx have a policy when it comes to retired numbers. 10 Years with the Sox, and must be inducted into the Hall as a Red Sock. That being said, Pedro didnt spend 10 years in Boston, but definately will be inducted with a B on his plaque cap. Do you think the SOx should make an exception? I mean, even though i'm a Yankee fan, I cant picture somebody else wearing number 45 for the Boston Red Sox.

I remember when I was on a Fenway Park tour one of the other specifications was you had to end your career for the Sox. Now I know Fisk didn't end his career here but since he came back in some kind of front office role, they made an exception for him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that the policy under Yawkey ownership? New ownership, new rules. Will the Henry group keep up with tradition? That remains to be seen, but nothing is set in stone.

Yea, that was the policy under Yawkey ownership, and the ownership groups following (not too familiar with the ownership history of the Sox). On the Sox website, under the retired numbers section, they still make mention of that policy.

What do you guys think though? Should Pedro's number be retired?

I guess that really goes back to the question of what makes a hall of famer. How much do you count personality with statistics? It's a tough call for me partly because he hasn't been here that long. But if he did get #45 retired, I think I would be fine with it.

Of course. I also think the Dodgers should retire Delino's 14.

Yeah, Pedro is up there along with Yaz, and Teddy Ballgame. He was just one of those players who did everything right at the right time and has so many memories with the Sox. He and the Rocket should both have theier numbers retired.

If you look at certain stats such as hits/9 innings, whip, winning %, league adj. ERA, and k's/9 innings there is a very strong case to be made that Pedro is the greatest pitcher of all time.

Well, Pedro was one of, if not THE greatest pitcher Boston has ever seen. Granted, there was Clemens too, but Pedro is still right up there.

Cy Young, Babe Ruth, etc.?

lol, im jp with ya, I know what you're saying.

Good post Hammer.

i think we should keep our standards but i doubt anyone who has respect for the game will ever choose to wear number 45 for the redsox ever again...so you might as well but it up for everyone to see along with the other retired numbers
