He's like Bill Walton. Only problem is I think he believes his own hyperbole.

I can't decide to call Tim Capt. Redundancy or Mr. Hyperbole. Someone give me a hand here

Call him Mr. No Excuse. I mean, at least Walton can blame all the acid he ate while on tour with the Grateful Dead.

Crazy thing is I actually like Bill Walton, but I hate Tim McCarver. Bill Walton's actually funny...when referencing ANYONE who played basketball at UCLA..."so-and-so the LEGEND from UCLA..." even if they are scrubs.

Bill Walton actually understands the game he played and talks about.

McCarver just rambles on stupid s*** that is beyond obvious.

I like Bill when he disses on people. I remember this game on TV I think it was a Rockets game, and he was like "Kelvin Cato just threw the worst pass in the history of the Rockets organization" and then for a follow up "Kelvin Cato has the worst hands in Rockets history" :D I mean cmon, how can you not love that

I love watching games that Walton does, because I get comedic value out of them AND a game of basketball. What more can you ask for?

A GM who doesnt molest his underlings, and who knows how to stop trading for overinflated big contracts. Or maybe someone who knows that McDeyss game was absed entirely on his athleticsim and that he would never be the same after his surgery so that there was no need to do that Camby and Nene trade for McDeyss. And that we coulda drafted Amare instead, and still kept Camby. Oh I'm sorry, I'm going off on a tangent.

Alright, I'll settle for a cookie.

You got a few guards too...this is getting off topic.

The Red Sox win the east. :D

Yes.

And before I say that the Sox will win the AL East, I need to add that I love Bill Walton and think he is a treasure of a basketball personality.

Lol, my favorite quote by McCarver has gotta be:

"With a 4 run lead, Pedro pitches like a whiley wolverine"

wtf does that mean?

or

"Like rusty razor, that's just a bad swing by O'Neill"

How about his 2004 alcs quote saying that Pedro would be facing Brandon Arroyo tomorrow....

His comments are hilarious i don't hate the guy but don't love him either, anyway i think that the sox have a great shot at winning the east, it all depends on the collapseof the yankees rotation, if they suck the yanks will suck

Im going to have to say its gonna be like it always is Red Sox vs Yankees for division and than Red Sox vs Yankees for conference and than Red Sox vs ________ in finals.

Well Im shocked to say the least. A sports writer IS actually picking the Red Sox to win it all. Its foxsports writer Dayn Perry. Like Ken Rosenthal, he has been known to write articles that have been sometimes anti-Red Sox. Which makes it even more intriguing altogether.

Boston last season had the best offense in all of baseball, and most of the principals are back for 2006 (albeit another year older). In center, Coco Crisp should roughly approximate Johnny Damon's level of plate production, and the right-handed fly-ball stroke of shortstop Alex Gonzalez should play reasonably well at Fenway. Also, among J.T. Snow, Kevin Youkilis and Mike Lowell (who's a strong rebound candidate) they should be able to cobble together solid production at first and third. Expect the Sox to once again lead the majors in runs scored.

The rotation should be improved. Curt Schilling is reportedly at last recovered from ankle surgery, David Wells showed up to camp on time, and Josh Beckett is newly in the fold. If nothing else, the Sox have a surfeit of arms they can run through. Tim Wakefield, Matt Clement, Bronson Arroyo and, if need be, Jon Papelbon give the Sox rotation depth that they haven't enjoyed in quite a while. It won't be a league-leading corps, but expect Boston starters to improve as a unit.

According to ERA, the Red Sox bullpen was the worst in the AL last season. In 2006, things are bound to get better. Keith Foulke is throwing with more velocity this spring, Mike Timlin returns, Craig Hansen will work a full season, Papelbon will open the year in the pen, David Riske comes over from Cleveland, and Julian Tavarez and Rudy Seanez were signed on the free-agent market. That's going to be a vastly improved unit.

Overall, the Sox will thump, play capable defense, trot out a solid rotation and benefit from a significantly ramped-up bullpen. That all adds up to an AL East crown.

Thank god, this is one of the few guys that actually see's the improvements we have made, and not the "disasterous offseason" because we lost Damon. Also, I'm not sure that rotation is a lock, what he said anyway. I'm sure we'd love to see papelbon in the rotation, but putting him in the bullpen might be a better way to ease him into the fold. He'd pitch like 70 innings and would be more prepared to handle 200 the following season.

Okay, here's my unbiased prediction for the AL east:

1) Tampa Bay

2) Baltimore

3) Minnesota

4) Boston

5) Kansas City

You really can't predict these things until maybe amonth in to see how all the question marks turn out.

Just an early prediction, and based on recent history, you could make the prediction I made 5 years ago and still probably be correct.

well i mean if you were playing some mlb game wouldnt you pick the jays to play against whoever ? Point is they will be a great team but will choke cuz of injuries and the fact that they cant really compete w/ sox and Yanks
