Good day for the FO. They buy out Bronson's arby years for a discounted rate and bring back the boy wonder. What's next, Jeremy Reed for Abe Alvarez straight up? They've go 4.5 hours left in the day, might as well call Seattle and try it.

Pure Speculation Alert!

With Theo officially being back with Baseball Ops, I wouldn't be surprised at all if a CF trade is announced in the next day or so. The deal is probably already done, but it would quell some of the panic in RSN if Theo rode in on his white horse and saved the day. Just a thought.

I'd like to see theo as the president of baseball operations and the GM, Jed Hoyer the assistant GM and Ben Cherington go back to his old job Farm Director. Where Larry fits into all this beats me.

Well, they can't create a new position for him without looking stupid. So he's got to come back as president of Baseball ops. Lucchino can focus on the political/business side which he's great at.

We all knew he had still been working with the team in an informal capacity behind the scenes over the past few weeks, but the fact that Theo and management saw fit to formally announce this via a press release is quite interesting. Without a doubt, I think he'll return in a very senior management role. I'm very interested to hear these details that are to be announced next week.

Heh. I misread the title. I thought it said "Tito" instead of "Theo." I had to scratch my head when so many people were asking what role he was coming back in.

damon left for the money something the red sox were not going to give him. not that much. maybe theo goes to 44 million but they would have never went to 52 million even if theo was here.

I bet Theo returns as President of Baseball opps, pulls the trigger on all the deals and Jed and Ben return to their roles. I have a feeling that when Lucchino gave them the job it was under the understanding that Theo would be returning and they were only filling in. Huge Day, THEO returns, all is good in Red Sox nation (once we get a CF that is)

I have a feeling thats what it will be like, only rather than demoting Cherington back to his old title, just call him and Hoyer Co-Assistant GM's and let him basically handle the farm (as planned for this year anyway). I just dont see Theo being there not as the GM, because either way he will be calling the shotso n the moves and everything, and if his title is not GM, then you basically have two GM's who arent really GMs.

I like Theo a lot, and it has been a good day for the Red Sox. I am happy for you guys considering how bad its been so far.

i wouldn't say its been bad other than losing damon. they upgraded their starting pitching and in the bullpen. they brought in loretta for nothing. brought in 2 gold glovers in lowell and JT snow and also got one of the best prospects in baseball. by no means are the red sox done with their 2006 roster.

I don't doubt that Damon would have left, but we can never know for sure. One thing we do know is that without Theo, the FO looked like keystone cops during the Damon episode. It was not confidence inspiring.
