Ah shut the hell up, I was just tired of me mentioning names and people never even heard of them, Hector Carrsoco was one of them.

Well I think providing stats is better than saying "oh I know more than any of you" if you don't think we know who a player is.

The rumors never die

Rotoworld: The Mets may attempt to acquire Miguel Tejada from Baltimore in order to spin him to Boston for Manny Ramirez, a baseball executive told the New York Daily News. We assume that it'd actually cost more in terms of talent to land Tejada, so this doesn't make a lot of sense. Still, who really knows what Omar Minaya has up his sleeve next? The one reason to believe that it might be a possibility is that the Orioles have interest in Kris Benson and the Red Sox probably don't.

I read on FSN the Orioles are demanding too much for Tejeda in the way of top tier prospects plus all-star/comparable talent...in other words no Manny for Miggy straight up deal.

Im glad the Sox stood their ground.

According to several reports, the Orioles were asking for a top pitching prospect in Papelbon or Lester to go along with Manny and Arroyo/Clement. The Sox right away had said no thanks to that trade proposal.

My source says
The O's and Red Sox talks have now broken off, with the Orioles having an offer on the table....Sources said that the Orioles told Boston that they'd want Ramirez and two pitchers for Tejada, but the Red Sox rejected the counterproposal.....probably Matt Clement and Bronson Arroyo...

Yeah, O's management pulled a Devil Ray on us, askin for way more then needed, I mean come on, Miggy isn't THAT much more valuable then manny.

He isn't MORE valuable than Manny. Possibly as valuable, but not more valuable.

If I'm the Red Sox, I don't add Clement in that deal. Manny for Tejada straight up is enough. Keep Manny, and trade Clement elsewhere in a package with some other players/prospects to fill CF, SS and maybe more pitching.

I'm surprised why the Sox are offering Clement in the deal unless it's a salary dump. BTW, is Boston paying any of Manny's contract in this trade scenario?

tejada even more upset with Orioles

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) -- Disgruntled shortstop Miguel Tejada is "more upset" with the Baltimore Orioles because they haven't gotten stronger in the offseason than with the team not fulfilling his trade request.

"Now, I am more upset than when I requested the trade because it's been a month and they haven't done anything," Tejada told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Tejada, who is entering the third year of a $72 million, six-year contract, said three weeks ago that he wanted a "change of scenery."

On Thursday, the disgruntled All-Star said he was upset by the Orioles' failure to make trades that would strengthen the team.

"I don't want to say anything bad that can hurt my teammates, but look at Toronto, they have strengthened themselves and we haven't done anything," said Tejada, who hit .305 last season with 26 homers and 98 RBIs.

The Orioles and free agent outfielder Jeromy Burnitz agreed on a two-year contract Wednesday, pending the results of a physical, a team source told the AP. The team will pay the former Chicago Cubs right fielder between $10 million and $12 million. The 36-year-old Burnitz hit .258 with 24 homers and 87 RBIs with the Cubs last season.

Baltimore also reached a preliminary agreement with free agent Jeff Conine on a $1.7 million, one-year contract. Conine, who played in Baltimore from 1999-03, needs to pass a physical for the deal to be finalized.

Tejada noted that division rivals New York and Toronto made moves to improve. The Yankees acquired outfielder Johnny Damon and the Blue Jays signed closer B.J. Ryan, starting pitcher A.J. Burnett and third baseman Troy Glaus.

"If the Orioles don't do anything, I want them to trade me because I am tired of losing," Tejada said before a winter league game.

If he isn't traded by the Orioles, Tejada said he would "respect the game as I have always done."

"I am not asking for a team of superstars, I only want a good group that helps me to win," he said.

Tejada also responded to comments made by former teammate Rafael Palmeiro, who tested positive for steroids.

Palmeiro has said Tejada gave him vitamin B-12 earlier this year, and suggested it might have been tainted with performance-enhancing drugs.

"Everyone knows that vitamin B-12 doesn't do anything bad," Tejada said. "I am not upset with Palmeiro, but enough speaking about that already," he said.

i think the sox need to really try to get the manny and clement for tejada deal done. Manny may be the better hitter, but tejada never complains (as long as his team is good), is never injured and is great defensively. Hes also younger and cheaper. He is also a great leader, which the sox might have lost in damon. In an article in the globe today, one orioles source said the O's are intrigued by the manny, clement for tejada deal. The only thing that is left is the money and whether are not the O's want to trade within the division

the thing about this trade, we would be gaining a shortstop and big bat in Manny's void but also then would be in need of a left fielder as well. There has been speculation that if the Sox think Marte is ready for the majors, they would put him in the outfield. Thoughts?

marte probaly could play left, but its also easier finding a corner OF than a SS. Everyone thinks marte's like an Albert Pujols as in he can play 3rd, LF and 1st. I dont think hes ready yet. Hes been struggling in the winter league, i heard he was batting like .215 with 2 homers in 120 ab's.

White Sox Make Offers For Tejada

A source close to a major sports representation firm has tipped me off to two offers the White Sox currently have on the table for shortstop Miguel Tejada.

Two formal proposals have been given to the Orioles by Sox GM Kenny Williams. Williams set a drop dead date of December 31st given other clubs' outstanding offers for Tejada.

Option 1: Jose Contreras, Juan Uribe, and one minor league prospect for Tejada.

Option 2: Brandon McCarthy, Juan Uribe, 20 year-old southpaw Alex Woodson, and another minor leaguer for Tejada. In this scenario, the White Sox would get cash back from the Orioles in the third and fourth years of Tejada's contract.

According to Baseball Prospectus's WARP statistic, which combines offense and defense into a number of wins above a replacement player, Tejada was worth 3.1 more wins than Uribe in 2005. Contreras was valued at 5.9 wins for '05. However, the White Sox can't start both McCarthy and Contreras, so it's really not a loss in pitching value for 2006. Seems to me that the Sox would much prefer Option 1 if the O's will consider it.

U.S. Cellular inflates right-handed hitters' home runs by about 30%. Tejada would stand to tack on about four home runs due to park effects. A loss of both Juan Uribe and Aaron Rowand would weaken one of the White Sox's two major strengths from their Championship season: their defense. Rowand and Uribe were two of baseball's best defenders at their positions in '05, and Brian Anderson and Tejada would definitely be a downgrade. Still, Williams's offseason moves and the proposed Tejada trades certainly strengthen the club overall for '06, at least on paper.

Id be very surprised if Chicago were to deal off McCarthy.

i could see them trying contreras, uribe and woodson. But that isnt as much as the sox would give them with manny and clement. The orioles have said they want someone good in return for tejada. Contreras is about as good as clement and manny obviously is much better than uribe.

If I'm the Orioles I have got to be seriously looking at option 2. Option 1 is a nogo for me, I'm still not convinced that Contreras can be an ace. He was very good at the end of last year and in the playoffs, but until he has some sustained success, I'm weary of him.

Brandon McCarthy, Juan Uribe, and 2 prospects for Tejada? Depends on how much money I have to pay for Tejada to play for someone else, but if I can get a decent young shortstop to replace Tejada, a top pitching prospect + two more, I have to be seriously considering that offer.

Manny and Clement make them better right now, but they get financial relief, and they strengthen their pitching future with McCarthy and Woodson, plus Uribe is no slouch with the bat. He's no Tejada, but he's pretty decent.

The Red Sox to get the Orioles to take on Manny and Clement will need to help the O's pay their salaries, and the Red Sox are probably very resistant to do so.

The most realistic way to get Tejada to Boston IMO is for the Mets to jump in.
