On a note somewhat related to the Yankees...today, I sent in my video and application to be on next year's Ultimate Road Trip.

Am I the only Yankee fan on the forum who's done it?

Did you really?????!!!!!!!

Thats cool as hell. I loved that show last year. Talkin to Vinny about it he made it seem so horrible, like the long hours, and no free time, and dealing with annoying Dave and Christa...but I would love to do it when i'm 18....if I get accepted onto the show I would gladly take a year off before I started college to do this show.

This year I believe their doing sort of a Real World type thing where everybody lives in the same apartment and is COMPLETELY devoted to the show. I guess there was too much conflict last year.

Good luck, pullin for ya!

Also, Hideki Matsui has decided not to play for Japan in thw World Baseball Classic. Crushing news to japanese people everywhere.

http://www.crisscross.com/jp/news/359736

Good for him. I am sck of hearing how Japanese players are more loyal than American players. Ichiro and Matsui and others did leave their native lands to chase the pot of gold in the US. They are just like the rest of the players from around the world. It's all about the money. Thank you Hideki for putting the loyalty myth to rest.

Did a Red Sox fan just praise a Yankee???? Wow, I think I need a drink.

I'm really starting to think about what our rotation is going to look like next year. There's 7 fully qualified starting pitchers on the team, but only 5 spots. Who gets them?

Now, it's almost certainly (we're talking 99.99% here) guaranteed that Randy Johnson and Mike Mussina won't be going to the pen or be traded ...so there's two spots.

With the bullpen taken care of (for the most part) and the hole in CF filled it's pretty certain that Jaret Wright and Carl Pavano won't be traded; I don't think the Yankees would trade either for bench depth or prospects, at this point. I don't see Pavano going to the pen, so there's one more spot. Wright could go to the pen, but I don't see that helping the team...as questionable (and unlucky!) as he was in 2005. I really would prefer if we go into Spring Training without Wright but, again, what would we get for him and would we need it?

Then there's Small, Chien-Ming Wang, and Chacon. Small isn't going to be starting, I'd put money on that. The real question is who, assuming Wright stays in the rotation, gets the last spot. If I had to choose between Chien-Ming Wang and Chacon...I'm going with Chacon; I just, for some reason, feel better with Chacon on the mound instead of Chien-Ming Wang (probably due to Chien-Ming Wang's history of injuries.)

Here's the rotation I want to go into Opening Day with:

Randy Johnson

Carl Pavano

Mike Mussina

Shawn Chacon

Chien-Ming Wang/ Jaret Wright

i am friends with dave on that show. he was really burned out by the end of the year. its consumes your entire life. he told me it was not as good as it looks to be.

This is my prediction for the pitching staff (i've posted it before, just dont remember where)

Starters

Johnson

Mussina

Wang

Pavano

Chacon

Relievers

Small/Sturtze (Whoever has the worse ST I predict will be traded)

Wright

Villone

Myers

Farnsworth

Rivera

When Dotel is ready to come back, I predict that the worst out of Sturtze/Small and Villone will be DFA'd or a trade will be made. Or the Yankees can always destroy their bench depth by carrying 12 pitchers.

You're friends with Dave? Dave was the man hahah!!

Anything else he said about it??

just told me he would never do it again if he had the chance. im not trying to talk anyone out of it but its real time consuming. you basically have no life. he told me he was glad it was over when the season ended. he really couldn't take it anymore.

I just noticed your sig change, 26:

Fun Fact: Alex Rodriguez holds a Patent on the nickname A-Rod.

I find this hilariously unsurprising. Any chance this has something to do with the ESPN SportsCenter commercial with Andy Roddick and Stu Scott?

thats weird, from watching the show, it seems that of all people Dave was loving it the most. He appeared to ALWAYS be having fun.

yea, thats probably why their changing the rules this year, making it so the cast has to be 100% devoted to the production and crew, and throwing them in the apartment together for the duration of the season.

All I know is that if I was able, i would definately do the show. It would be a dream come true

I'd love to do that too, but I've got too much to do.

As for the rotation, my ideal would be-

Johnson

Mussina

Pavano

Chacon

Wang

Bullpen of

Small

Wright

Sturtze

Myers

Farnsworth

Rivera

I really don't see the value in Wright, but I don't think he's tradeable. I'd prefer to give him a shot in the bullpen because the other 5 guys are more qualified to pitch in the rotation. Going into the season with that and I'd be content.

what do you do with Villone??

dave is a huge yankees fan but even going to all the games got tiring after a while for him. i talked to him all throughout the season and he just said all the travel took a toll on him. its real time consuming and its probably better suited for college kids who really don't have real jobs yet.

He was quite the party pooper at games. Towards the end of the season, the Yanks have a deal where you can buy 5 tickets in the upper tier for 25 bucks, so of course, my and my friend bought several tickets to like, about 10 games in late September. Anyway, all my tickets were in the same area, the area where the Ultimate Road Trippers were. I was star stuck at first, struck up conversations and found out he lives in a town near my old town, but then at like the third game everyone, and I mean everyone, in the ballpark did the wave continuously, and it was really, really cool. Of course, I look up and Dave is telling everyone to sit down and ruining the fun. He got really trashed at all the games. Must have been super sick of it by then I guess.

Dave works as an after school activity coordinater...while it is fun, rewarding, and great for the community I wouldnt exactly consider it a real job as you wont be able to get through life on that salary. And doesnt he still live at home? Seems like he fits the description he gave you.

Really? I wouldnt have expected that, but of coarse I dont know the guy.

I could never drink at a ballgame, even if I was watchign it on TV. I wouldnt be able to enjoy the game. But I would have no problem drinking at or while im watching a basketball or football game or something.

right, which is why I trade either Small or Sturtze (whoever has the worse ST), or try t get them through waivers and into Columbus. I keep Villone because he is a Lefty and can prove to be pretty good for us.

The trucky part comes when Dotel comes back

Then it really gets complicated. Looks like Cashman is going to have to trade somebody for a prospect or 2.

dave lives at home still in creskill, NJ. he didn't work full time either so it was easy for him to go on the road trip. dave is one crazy guy since i lived with him in college. there is no bigger yankee fan i know than dave.

haha, well I'd much prefer having too many arms than too few. We'll have to trade somebody out of ST, I'd prefer to take the 6 best relievers, regardless of what arm they throw with.

Yea, I understand that, but the fact that Myers is mainly a one-batter guy it kind of takes away the depth of the pen. I dont think it will matter anyways, I think Villone will have a better spring than Sturtze.

But I just hope Joe decides to only carry 11 pitchers like he usually does rather than carrying 12 like he did last year, 12 totally kills the bench depth.

Yankee fans, you have my uttermost sympathy if Georgey even considers this

Rotoworld: Free agent Rafael Palmeiro would like to play next season, although he hasn't made a final decision. "I'm still interested in playing," he said. "I want to see what options I have. If there's something that's intriguing, I'll do it." Palmeiro didn't mention whether there were any teams interested in him. However, he did say that he'd like to play for the Yankees.
