After you get He Hate Me, head over to the Bronx and shoot whoever is responsible for this, and if it George, then head down to Tampa directly and take care of him (if I havent already done so  )

....Palmeiro needs to prove himself first. Paige and Skip were talking about this on Cold Pizza and Woody was throwing ideas out there such as him going to play in an independatnt league, Japan, etc while at the same time having an independant tester test him every two weeks. That wont happen, but it would be Raffy's best bet.

Not to beat a dead horse, but why should he have to prove himself, but Giambi shouldn't? Both used steroids, both denied it initially, and both were exposed as liars (Raffy through testing, Giambi through leaked grand jury testimony). I suspect your reaction has more to do with what laundry the player is wearing, and less to do with outrage over them cheating the system.

Somebody would have taken a flyer on Giambi last year, and it won't shock me if an AL team takes a flyer on Raffy as a DH. I figure it will be a smaller market team in need of a cheap bat, and he ought to come cheap given the bad pub that will come with him.

I have no problem with anyone's reaction to the steroid issue, be it for either side, as long as their opinion is consistent. 26 is quick to speculate about non-Yankees, but condemns any speculation about anyone in pinstripes. The double standard found in his comments is laughable, and the dividing line is clearly what uniform is being worn.

You need to stop accusing me of this. I felt the same way about Giambi last season before he started to produce. And fact of the matter is Giambi did prove he was clean by NOT testing positive last year, which is not the case with Palmeiro, which is actually what I was reffering to, proving that he is clean.

Where am I speculating about Palmeiro?? There is no need for speculation as he has ALREADY TESTED POSITIVE!!!!!

Palmiero's contract ran out after he tested positive, Giambi's didn't. Palmiero has to prove himself before another club wil sign him. Giambi doesn't have to prove himself because his contract is guaranteed for the next bazillion years.

Have a consistent take on the subject and there will be no accusations.

I think I have been pretty consistant, I dont throw accusations out there out of the blue. I think once (maybe twice) I said that I wouldnt be surprised if a player took steroids, but didnt say that he did for sure (like you guys do with Giambi and Sheffield) and ended it right there rather than starting a thread debating WHY I think/know he uses steroids.

The Yankees rotation is deep in numbers but thin in margin for error, dependability of results, and track record for good health. Fallbacks on the 40-man roster, Jorge De Paula, Matt DeSalvo and Sean Henn are either unproven or have their own problems. While there is reason to believe that DeSalvo and Henn will ultimately succeed (De Paula, still coming back from surgery, gives away home runs like he was having a two-for-one sale), the Yankees don’t want to have their rotation suddenly go 25 on them — that would be un-Yankees-like. Yet it could easily happen if Randy Johnson’s back acts up, if Mike Mussina’s twitchy elbow twitches, if Shawn Chacon regresses, if Aaron Small regresses, if Chien-Ming Wang’s shoulder troubles him, if Jaret Wright bursts into flames. Two or more of these are likely to happen,

Rotoworld: The Yankees and free agent Al Leiter are close to finalizing a minor league contract. Even if one of the guys ahead of him needs to open the year on the DL, Leiter shouldn't have a spot on the Yankees. Maybe he'll retire if he doesn't make the team or maybe he'll seek to go elsewhere. The Post suggests that he could join the YES broadcast booth. It's the one spot at which he'd clearly be an upgrade.

With Wright, Pavano and any other questions they might have for 2006. I guess its good to stockpile Triple A system with "just in case" pitchers. Im sure he could do a good job for YES, anything's better than "Seee Yaa"

"See Ya" won't be out of the booth if Leiter is in. Kay does just about every Yankee game. It's his color commentator that changes. Sometimes Kaat, sometimes Justice, sometimes O'neil, and now maybe sometimes Leiter.

Leiter was great a couple of years ago on ESPN. If YES signs him, I'd consider that an absolutely stellar addition. IMO, he's good enough to be a national voice

He wontreplace See Ya, him and Michael Kay are VERY VERY close friends, and Kay is the one who has been trying to encourage him to join YES. If he doesnt make the team I doubt he agrees to go to Columbus. I wouldnt be surprised to see him with YES (which is something i've been predicting since we got him last year).

ABSOLUTELY, he was fantastic working the NLCS back and 2003 and doing other broadcasting gigs the last few years. Everybody has the same opinions on Leiter's broadcasting, everyone thinks it is outstanding. I would love this.

Yanks made several Minor League signings today. Not going to mention them all here (that will be for the Offseason Acquisition thread) but some of the notables are bringing back Dave Parrish and Russ Johnson. Very happy about the Johnson move. We are also bringing in Ben Davis (I like this one), Danny Garcia, who was very highly touted as a Met and even projected to be the 2Bman of the future, and my personal favorite move of the day...Frank Brooks!!!

You might think im crazy, but thats fine. Ive liked Brooks a LOT since I saw him pitch 2 years ago. He is an older minor leaguer (late 20s if I were to guess), but is a lefty. I dont know what it is about him that I like so much, but I like him a lot. Im very happy with this and hope he gets a callup sometime during the season.

Looks like Melky is having a good winter...

With the Dominican Winter League schedule complete, Yankees outfield prospect Melky Cabrera is compiling playoff experience -- a trait that never hurts around the Bronx.

With Cabrera's Las Aguilas Cibae?as leading the way toward the Dominican finals, the 21-year-old switch-hitter has contributed, driving in five runs and scoring four in eight games as his club plays through the league's round-robin tournament schedule.

The postseason follows a Dominican League regular season in which Cabrera batted .315 (35-for-111) with six doubles, two triples, 18 RBIs and seven stolen bases, posting a .376 on-base percentage in 40 games.

He walked 12 times and struck out 13 times, improving his ratios after working out 37 walks and striking out 87 times in 132 games with Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Columbus in 2005.

NOt that anybody cares, but since there is really nothing to report I thought I would share with everyone that Tanyon Sturtze just signed a lease on an apartment on 55th Street, in the same building as Carl Pavano no-less. Maybe they will stay up all night together and try to figure out this thing they call pitching.

If it's on the first floor, maybe they can invite Wright over (I don't trust him using elevators/stairs/being more than several feet off the ground.)

Unfortunately not...I dont know what floors they are on, but I do know Pavano is 3 floors beneath Sturtze. Maybe They can invite Wright over and pull all-nighters in the lobby

Maybe Ill go over there (Its the Milan building) and throw eggs and water balloons and other things like that at them. For every run they give up in a game, i'll be waiting for them to get home and throw that many eggs or ballons at them

If 2006 is anything like 2005...you're going to be really busy this year (until about June, when they can't give up runs because they'll be in Tampa.)

After they get injured, before they go down to Tampa for rehab guess who's gonna be waiting outside for them...i'll have those f***ers NEVER leaving home, not even for a sandwich or something

The Yankees are talking with Jeff Nelson about bringing him in on a Minor League deal.

http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1137048276290180.xml&coll=1

..I've lways liked Nellie, going back to his time here (1996-2000, 2003) and really hope this happens. He obviously (barring some sort of catastrophe) wouldnt make the team, but I would still love to see him back here.

But I would also be happy with him going somewhere he can win a spot and contribute to the bullpen.
