Well I jmean isnt the main reason we got him is because he pitches well when it counts. I think he'll be solid this post season

Give me a minute, but I'm positive someone started on Ortiz really early in the season in one of the threads. It was back when he was hitting behind Manny....

I'll find it and post it.

Wow. Why does everyone here hate Gammo so much?

i think he is an old wind bag, whose inside information is an office near the press wire.

He always gets his big stories wrong, and he pretends to have such inside info.

and now he picked the white sox.

anyway, no biggie, we cant be agruing about him today that's an off season debate.

and what does today's game mean for the white sox?

Holy crap, Gammons actually picked against Boston? He's been on Theo's/Lucchino's crotch for the longest time.

It's gotta be reverse psychology or something.

Him picking against the Yankees is nothing new, he's done it forever. Actually, only one person from ESPN picked the Yankees to take the whole thing, and one person took Boston to go all the way. Kind of interesting, we're no longer the trendy picks to take it all. Lots of Astros and Angels picks.

I don't think 'Stros or Angels picks are due to any trend shift. They have the best pitching staffs IMO. Picking pitching in short series has always been the trend.

Just like in football....the analysts don't take too many chances so they don't look stupid. They rarely take an underdog and picking a team in 5 games is usually a nice safe bet. I don't think too many people picked the Red Sox to sweep the Angels, come back from a 3-0 deficit to there most hated rival, then sweep the team with the best record in baseball to win the World Series. Personally I think the Houston Astros will go to the World Series this season. Say what you want about the Cardinals having Carpenter and Mulder.....I like Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt.

As for the AL....I think the Angels have the best overall pitching staff. The only thing though is that its the same guys from last year really. Colon, Lackey, and Washburn. I dunno there is something about them I see collapsing again. I think the Yanks have the most explosive bats but the Red Sox hit with more consistancy. I see the Red Sox taking out the White Sox as LONG as they limit there mistakes....if you start making errors, the White Sox use speed and baseball smarts to kill you.

well, it's not a very motherf***ing balls out move then for gammons, et al.

anyway. I think schillingis is right we play our game and we win, too many mistakes and well. cant let that speed onton the field..Please God no stupid renterrors.

Well, it's also smart not to pick us because neither team has a lot of pitching. I don't think the Red Sox are going to go very far this year. The team is almost identical to the 2003 team - minus Pedro.

talks about doom and gloom..

come on guys!!!..I am the one who usually gets dog piled about having no faith, being pessimistic and for being critical, and redsoxrooter you have been right there in the pile.

pedro and derek are at home-pedro is fishing and derek is f***ing, but we're abck in the playoffs.

lets go sox..

redsoxrooter...put those hands together...

I don't like Gammons much either. From recent memory, he gets a few details wrong every now and then. The only ESPN analyst I like is Harold Reynolds.

The WORST is Jeff Brantley. I just wanna puke all over him.

I don't know what to expect from the Sox but most of them are labeled as big gamers. David Wells, Curt Schilling, David Ortiz, and even Edgar Renteria (supposed to be clutch) are all players that step up. Not to mention the rest of the team now knows what it likes to win a World Series. Lets just hope they are up for the challenge again.

IMO both the Yankees and the Red Sox have enough pitching to win the World Series, as long as the offense gets them some run support. Both teams probably don't want to be in a low scoring pitcher's duel, but other than that they're pretty well off. It's just a matter of pitching consistency for them throughout the postseason.

I'll admit I was ona the people who bashed Wells early on in the year. But he has really come to form he's been pitching great and I believe he's a big reason the Sox are in the playoffs.

I personally don't like much ESPN has. Reynolds makes me sick, so does Brantley. Kruk is annoying at times and sometimes just plain dumb.

Yes Johnny we need Boomer to come up big tonight. I personally feel pretty good about Wells pitching tonight, 6 or 7 real strong innings and I will be ecstatic.

Ya know who I have the biggest problem with....

Sean Salisbury

Now there are other stations who have players like Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason, Jim Kelley, and ESPN has Steve Young.....why Sean Salisbury?? I hate listening to him cause he always thinks he is correct and THATS IT. He changes his Super Bowl teams at least 6 times a year. I love it when he says stuff like "Chicago Bears defense is outstanding and this is why they will be going to the playoffs this year." This one was better last year.."the Seattle Seahawks have the best overall team and will be in the Super Bowl for 2005." What pissed me off the most was in the playoffs heading into the Super Bowl he says "as I predicted all along the Patriots and Eagles are in the Super Bowl" when he CLEARLY STATED "the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs will be in the Super Bowl" back on week 3. IDIOT!!! He never did anything in his career and he thinks he can predict outcomes and say who can and can't play in the NFL. I have no problem if Steve Young or Ron Jaworski want to critique a QBs play but NOT Salibury. I wish John Clayton was a little more witty and better at comebacks cause his knowledge far exceeds Salisbury's.

I feel better now

Jaws is the man, he's my fav, though i dont mind Salisbruy. A Lot of the analysts choose the popular teams like the Colts last year, almost everyone chose them over the Pats. This year its Atlanta or carolina.
