I read on the Yes board that the "break your heart" guy was Mo Rivera. :dunno: I guess you just can't tell based on what the player looks like. Ryan Franklin is the same size as me - and I don't even work out or anything.

I saw speculation elsewhere that one of the names is David Ortiz, which is what sent me running here to see what you people were talking about.... lordy, I hope not....

That's a fantasy of some Yankee fans, that David Ortiz is the big name guy. I've seen that speculation on the Yankee forum It certainly would help their cause if that is the case, but I doubt it.

Of course you doubt it, he's not a Yankee. Ortiz went from 18 to 20 to 31 to 41 in home runs. I think it's as fair to speculate about him as it is anyone else. Especially since you make hints that players like Johnson and Clemens are juiced.

Yeah, I'm dying to see how this shapes up too. If it's a big guy on a pennant chasing team it could affect the race as well. If the Angels were to lose Vlad for 10 games it could be crippling.

Clemens isn't a Yankee either.

It's long been publicized that Ortiz's increase comes from Ron Jackson adjusting his stance and batting technique when he first came to the sox. I truly believe that Jackson was the one who turned Ortiz into such a beast, although anything is possible in modern baseball.

That would really be something if it turned out to be Rivera. Is there a link to that? I've had in the back of my mind that he may be on something, who knows?

I think that pitchers are on the juice more than the fans would expect. One steroid expert said that pitchers actually benefit more from streroids than do hitters.

After seeing Bonds I doubt that but I still think steroids can be a big boost to pitchers, can improve their fastballs and keep them from getting injured. It would usually be a different type of steroid than what the hitters used, one that doesn't add as much bulk.

Well yeah, if you're a batter you need to make contact first, which is hard enough in itself. You pick up velocity if you're a pitcher, all you gotta do is throw accurately, which if you couldn't, you wouldn't be a pitcher.

Tell that to Kevin Brown.

It's all speculation at this point the only point I would make against Ortiz being juiced is he's fat, and he's always been fat since he broke into the majors. It's not like he started gaining size along with those Home Run numbers going up he's always been the same size. He came to Boston and he just broke out. Also Papa Jack who is the single greatedt hitting coach of all time, I'm sure has an affect on that.

RJ isn't on steroids, there's no way in hell.

The Clemens theory actually intrigues me. He's 43 and performing liek he's in his prime, highly unusual, also when he was with Boston he was big but he definitly wasn't as large as he is now. Most people decline with age, he's having the best year of his career? Definitly an interesting situation.

Ok I can't resist. I am not sure about Matusi but I read rumors on the Yankee board that he was smaller earlier this year and his power was gone too. Then his HR power returned, kind of like Giambi only not to the same degree. So the profile would fit of someone who went back on the juice. This is the pattern of Raffy in Baltimore, he was bad early in the year but came on strong after April, now we know why.

Sosa, I doubt it. He is hitting .230 if he was on steroids before he is off them this year.

Andrew Jones of the Braves, he looked huge when the Braves faced the O's this year he hit a HR over the center field wall that reminded me of the juiced HR Giambi hit off Pedro Martinez in game 7 of the 2003 ALCS. As soon as I saw that I thought "steroids".

Of course these speculations are usually wrong, but given what we already know one cannot help but wonder when the revelations will come and who will be the next big name.

he still has power, just not having the same kind of year he had last year. Everybody expects him to be like Barry Bonds because thats how he was in Japan, its not going to happen, doesnt mean hes on steroids. If he went back to Japan today he'd be the same home run threat he used to be. There is no doubt in my mind that Matsui is clean, the thought never ever crossed my mind until I saw it here.

The only name I really see on your list that I could see testing positive is Sheffield. Just because we all know he already used steroids in the past, so why not again.

goddam...he riubbed a f***in cream on his leg. I doubt that incrreased his power or anything. Not all steroids make you big and strong.

Posted
I agree. That Sheffield steriod thing is blown out of proportion. It's a freakin cream. How the heck is a cream going to make you that much stronger? Maybe i should get me some of that cream.

I think it was a little more than just rubbing a cream on his leg. And they all use the excuse they didn't know what they were taking

I think he was doing more than that to.

People don't think these athletes are smart enough to know what's in something before they put it in, or on their body? Please. If that's the case, then they deserve the backlash of whatever they test positive for, or are found to have been taking, just for being stupid.

Which is a load of ********, they need to own up to their mistakes and admit they f***ed up, DAMN! It irritates me so much when they pull that horseshit line "...oh, I didn't know what it was.." GO f*** YOURSELF! You think we ACTUALLY believe you would put something in/on your body without asking what the f*** it is??? :thumbdown Well some people might believe them, but they are indenial IMO. <_ :thumbdown>

I'd say there's a good chance that at some point in your life you will take a medicine thats ingrediants contain a steroid...and you wont even know it.

how do you know its a load of ********, i agree that most of the players who claim to not have known what they were taking are full of s***, but im sure that some are being honest. The Latin players cant read the ingrediants on the side of a bottle.

Nothing with steroids is sold over the counter. Doctors will inform you if they are prescribing a steroid, so I find it unlikely that you wouldn't know.

Not only that, but when they're younger they are pumped full of them. Living in those conditions, a scout comes over and sees someone with some potential and gives them some 'performance enhancers'. The people over there won't question it, since its the only chance to make some money and the scouts want to be known for discovering a phenom.

It's terrible, but it is true.

Wow, after watching this stuff on the delay showing kevin millars history in baseball, i wouldn't be surprised if he did steriods in the past. They showed him in the minors and independent league, and he was skinny. Really skinny. His legs and everything, even his freakin ankles. The only was he can get bigger like he is not is by being fat, which he is not, or by working out a hell of alot, or taking steriods.

I hope not...i can truthfully say that tears will be flowing from my eyes if Roger tests positive. I love Roger and always have, even when he was in Boston. I remember my first Yankee game back in '91, Roger pitched a spectacuar game, shutting out the Yankees and since then he has always been my favorite pitcher. I practically idolize Roger Clemens, iI cant imagine how i would feel if he tests positive.

Clemens was a Yankee- it's pretty well known that the Yankees do WHATEVER it takes to win, including cheat- so it's very possible he picked up the needle while in the Bronx. So far the team with the most admitted and known roid boys is the New Roid Yankees. This past year has been the worst in Yankees history with the true nature of the Yankees being exposed. It's about goddamned time too.

I suspect that if congress takes over the steroid tests and MLB has strict olympic style testing imposed upon it, certain teams will be hurt far more than others. Both by players being caught, and players going off the juice and seeing their performances dramatically decline. I tend to believe the Yankees are at a higher risk for this than are most other teams.

Posted

It's incredibly unfair to players who haven't tested positive, to be implicated in these allegations. Pujols, Rodriguez, etc. Ortiz by the way, advocated for MLB to educate kids in the DR about the hazards of steroids, so it's highly unlikely that he would do that stuff. And yes it's clear many of you hate the Yankees, but it could be the pressure a player puts on himself to succeed here, than the team shoving steroids down his throat. Or maybe the Yankees organization doesn't command the respect it once did.

LIST, PLEASE!

The Orioles are the team with the most 'roids users. Soso and Palmeiro. They had Joey Belle, Brady Anderson, Bobby Bonilla, Mickey Tettleton and Tejada(according to Canseco)
