And s*** yeah I want Damon to be suspended, we need to make up some ground! Plus it would make for great heckling at the Stadium.

I really don't wish it to be anybody, I don't want it to come out that anyone was cheating. However, if I had to pick people on the Red Sox and Athletics would be the place I'd start.

meh. that's pretty classless.......if for some bizarre reason this happened you wouldn't see Johnny go into the stands :o

When did anyone say anything about Johnny going into the stands?

Posted
sheff's on the roids, and now theres a rumor that johnny's on the roids, so its like an analogy that that is something johnny wouldnt do if he were on steroids like sheff did.

You're incorrect on all three of your post.

Bonds has never once offered to test in front of the media, he wouldn't put himself in that kind of position. Sheffield offered, but when a reporter produced a cup, he backed down.

And Sosa, cried like a little bitch when Rick Reilly told him to test right now.

I believe his quote was "Are you trying to get me in trouble?!!"

you are right on the Sosa point, what you said about the Sheffield pont has been reported but Sheff has denied it so im not leaning either way, and yes, Bonds did offer to test everyday in front of ESPN cameras in 2004 Spring Training. You probably just dont remember the interview, but I remember it very distinctly.

when exactly did Sheffield go into the stands?? Thats just ignorance on your part. I remember him swatting his glove at a fan who reached onto the field and interfered with a play, but I dont remember Sheffield going into the stands...sorry pal.

And I wouldnt call it a rumor, its just speculation....nobody seriously thinks Damon used.

. Johnny Damon found himself in the awkward position of defending himself from a rumor that bigger names than Rafael Palmeiro are about to be announced as testing positive for steroids. Damon, Houston's Roger Clemens and an unnamed Yankee player were Topic A, at least in cyber-space, yesterday.

wonder who that "unnamed yankee" is?

Bonds would probably piss on the interviewers, but never into a cup.

Three names, most likely to be the unknown Yankee who was the subject of rumors:

A-Rod

Jeter

Mo Rivera

and this is based on what?

Where did you get the names? Are you starting this rumor or are you making it up?

The three Yankee names I listed have been mentioned more often than any others that I have seen on the talk forums. This is likely because Kay said "hall of famer" and "would break your heart", I don't see how any other Yankee would meet that criteria as closely as these three...

This steroid talk is getting ridiculous. It's absolutely staining the game when guys like rivera and jeter are thought to have used roids.

so you're just repeating unsubstantiated and possibly fabricated gossip?

Would that be like asking you if you're on a sex offender registry? Just asking.

A-Rod is a stick. I guess some players who got caught don't fit the bulky stereotype, but if Rodriguez used, there'd be a mushroom cloud by now.

So umm, yeah, like WHEN exactly, is this supposed list going to be released? Can we get an actual date here?

just telling you what he said...it was during one of those interviews with Pedro Gomez where Barry gets really mad because he hates Pedro Gomez

Three names, most likely to be the unknown Yankee who was the subject of rumors: (not to say any of these guys are on steroids, but among the Yankees they are the ones who have been mentioned more than other Yankees)

A-Rod

Jeter

Mo Rivera

no way Jeter or Mo are on steroids...I would also say no way A-Rod is on steroids but that would start World War III over here with all of you anti-A Rod guys.

Bobby, Miguel Tejada and Steve Kline are more likely to test positive for Steroids that Jeter and Mo, lay off the Yankees please, it gets VERY annoying.

Just think of every other suspension of any sort in recent years and try and remember how long the appeal period is, if a name recently tested positive the appeal wont be heard probably until September (assuming they want them to serve the suspension this year)

...but the thing I dont get is that the media is always made aware of suspensions of other sorts prior to the appeal, i think this needs to be done with the steroids, if someone tests positive they need to be punished by having their name thrown out there immediately

Didn't Palmeiro get extra time with his appeal, before his name was released? Favortism doesn't fly with me. I can understand if they want to make sure that there's no room for error, because it's very damaging to get your named thrown into the fray. It matters more in MLB, because you see the face, whereas in the NFL, the players wear helmets, and it's not as personal.

Just seems like MLB takes the longest to do everything. Indecisive. We love our players, we want to protect 'em, yet they do nothing to make the policies stricter, so CLEAN players don't have their names tarnished.

Posted
He got extra time. No one else who had tested posotive before himg got to appeal before the suspension was announced. MLB knew that if they released it earlier less people would watch his 3000th hit.

boy, gammons really blew the lid of this story. what a scoop.

oh wait a minute no one has been caught and not one star..

wow, he really has that inside info.

Posted
It's so weird that Gammons would be so horribly wrong about this.
 Oh wow that's funny. I almost pissed myself when I read this. You were actually shocked when Gammons was wrong about something? The guy does two things, 1. He "breaks the story" on something that everyone knew about two weeks earlier, or 2. Breaks a "story" that never actually happens.

Perhaps someone won their appeal?

That's what I think may have happened. That would explain a lot, the rumors, the inside source. Just when the positive test was going to be made public it was overturnd on appeal.
