They had a great draft this year. I think theyll compete for the division. Frye is going to be good, tough rebounder, good inside guy. David Lee will be a pretty decent player. They also got Q-Rich and Nate Robinson in a pretty much rape trade for Kurt Thomas. They have Jerome James, Marbury, Tim Thomas, Sweetney. Theyve got a very solid team, just need maybe 1 more big guy.

Edit - Jamal Crawford too.

I wouldn't say that the Knicks absolutely suck, they just are WAY too deep at the guard position with Starbury, Q-Rich (YOU CROOKS!!!!!), Crawford, Robinson, and more. James was a nice addition for them especially if he plays like he did in the playoffs last season, but Yankshater is right, they need another (good) big man, and if they get one, they COULD compete for the division.

Frye is too young to tell if he is the answer, but the Knicks irritated me when they stole Richardson and Robinson from my boys for Kurt Thomas

Hey, I just want to know when they'll announce the NBA schedule. I can't wait for the NBA season. By the way, I'm a Clipper fan, not a Laker fan.

The Clippers have really improved. Livingston, Mobley, Maggette, Brand, and Kaman is our starting line-up. We just need to add some more depth in our bench. I think Elgin Baylor is after Bonzi Wells. But Baylor was stupid enough to NOT pick Gerald Green in the first round. I'm sure Green will be the Celtics' future.

If I were a Laker fan, you guys would be bragging on me, huh? ;)

f*** the Lakers.

I think we'll have a chance at the 7th seed. We'll finish 2nd in the Pacific Division, behind the Suns of course. The Kings will suck. They've lost a lot of valuable players. They're not that good without Webber. The Lakers...they don't have a point guard. I'm not counting out the Warriors, since they have Baron Davis. I dunno, I'm not sure. I will be VERY surprised if the Clips don't make the playoffs with the improvement we've made during the offseason.

I wouldnt say 2nd. They underachieve all the time, but theyve got a really good team. Brand might be the most underrated PF in the game. Magette and Mobely are both very very good players. Kaman and Livingston, while both young, have shown flashes of brilliance. Had they got Bobby Simmons back to come off the bench I would definitely say theyd make the playoffs, but past their starting 5 theyre way too thin.

If Baylor is successful in signing Bonzi Wells and re-signing Marko Jaric, Mikki Moore, and Zelcko (sp?) Rebraca, we'd be good. Now that's a big if. I agree with you, with a thin bench we have so far, we are not playoff contenders.

Don't put too much stock into the summer league, guys -- for better or worse. This is a league that Skita tore apart when he was a Nugget, yet he never did anything worth anything in the Regular Season.

Success this season, in my opinion, would be a bonus for the Celtics if they get rid of either 'Toine or Pierce. They're definetely taking the right steps and will be one of the better teams in the league, down the road.

The Clippers will be the best LA team as Phil Jackson is ridiculously overrated. I see the Clippers competing for the playoffs, at the very least.

The Knicks -- eh, until a team with Stephon wins, I can't bring myself to believe that he's a winner. He'd be one of the best players in the league if he was capable of making his teammates better, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

And my team, the Nuggets, will be one of the top teams in the League this year as Karl will have a chance to fully install his system. If they stay patient, they may be able to pick up a Michael Finley or Allen Houston if their teams buyout their contracts (maybe for cheap, even), and will become a team that will contend for the Championship.

I'll add one more thing -- the days of the East being the weaker conference are over. From top to bottom, it may be weaker, but at the top, the Conferences are as close as they've been in a while.

WOAH, Denver a championship caliber team, NEXT YEAR??? I can see them being a 4 or 5 seed in the west but one of the best...Im not sold.

Phoenix will be the number one seed again as we have Nash, Stoudemire, Matrix, and WE WILL RESIGN JOE JOHNSON!!! B)

Then theres San Antonio, I hate those bitches but they are really good. Prob a two seed, because Duncan hasnt been healthy enough in the regular season to have his team be a 1 seed.

Seattle is a great shooting team and they have some

And Dallas is a VERY good team also, but if they loose Finley as you mentioned thats a BIG loss, played well against my Suns but if Johnson was healthy for all the games we prob would have won in 5 (maybe a sweep) They have young talent in Terry, Howard and others but Finley was their leader, tough to replace someone like that on and off the court

Houston is a very interesting team to me. Yao and Tmac, but I don't know if many of you heard or saw this but the signed Stromile Swift recently! The guy who banged on Yao with both hands! Very hard to do...but anyway, They are talented but not at point guard, so until then...this is as high as they go, in my book

Then I see Denver here (Maybe switch them with Dallas if the Mavs lose Finley, but no higher) Carmelo is a great player (his shoes are sick too :D ) Camby is solid in the middle and Martin is rediculous. Andre Miller is a good point guard but I think he can be even better. Nene was good, but like didn't his minutes SIGNIFICANTLY drop later in the season? And they also have George Karl, who led them to the playoffs, great coach. You said buyout Allan Houtson contract??? WHY? Hes washed up and injury prone, if I were the Nuggets I would get Finley.

Posted

I think they can compete for a Championship, to be honest with you. But I really meant if they were to pick up a guy like Finley or Houston. I understand Houston is washed up -- but he can still shoot the ball, which is what they lacked last year. He'd be cheap, probably.

And if the Mavs buyout Finley's contract, he'd get what? $15 mill. from them? Even he might be willing to go to a contender for cheap.

Who was better than the Nuggets in the second half of the season, last year? Phoenix, and... well, nobody else. And that wasn't even with Karl's system fully installed. The team is fully capable of playing that kind of basketball all season, next year. They also did it without Vo, who was one of the best shooters in the league 2 years ago. A shooter was what they lacked, as I mentioned.

Carmelo will be a year better and he played very much like an All-Star in the second half (I agree, great shoes, too). Vo back, as I mentioned, which should open up the court, K-Mart was injured for most of last season, A full season with George Karl, among other things. The reason for the decrease in Nene's minutes was because of injury, and he had never really gotten his timing back. Some, including myself, think that Nene should start over Marcus Camby while Camby comes off of the bench. Because coming off the bench is tough to do as an offensive player.

I really meant it when I said the Nuggets will be towards the top of the League, this year. But sorry for hi-jacking the thread -- just saw other people mentioning their teams and figured I'd weigh in on mine.

Posted

No, No you didn't hi-jack it...but to be honest with you, I thought Denver could have (and SHOULD have) beaten San Antonio, good team, I actually forgot about Lenard, Great shooter.

OK, now I see why Nene's minutes were down, I didn't understand when I was watching them in the playoffs why he wasnt in more...

Another team I forgot about was Seattle, but I was confused where to put them...

If Denver plays like they did the second half them and Phoenix will fight for the 1 seed in the West...I'd rather have my boys fight with Denver than San Antonio (I hate them, but I think I already mentioned that, LOL)

I think I would have to see what all happens (FA's, trades, etc.) to actually give my predictions of where each team will end up in the playoff picture. That was like a rough draft

Celtics sign free agent Bynum

August 19, 2005

BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Celtics signed free agent Will Bynum on Friday.

Bynum played in the Celtics' summer league, averaging 4.2 points and 2.7 assists in six appearances.

The Georgia Tech guard led his team to the NCAA championship as a junior in 2004, scoring the last-second layup to beat Oklahoma State at the Final Four. The Yellow Jackets lost to Connecticut in the title game.

Last season, Bynum scored an ACC tournament-record 35 points in the semifinal upset of No. 2 North Carolina. He averaged 9.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in 101 career games at Georgia Tech.

Bynum spent two seasons at Arizona, where he averaged 6.6 points.

This is a very good signing for the Celtics, and he is also much better than his stats indicate. He basically OWNED the ACC on a very deep team with limited minutes. Great pickup for the C's, offensive firepower from the bench, which any team can use.

Cleveland looks good with this lineup...

CIllgausghis(However you spell it)

PFDonyell Marshall/Drew Gooden (Good battle going to go on there)

SFLeBron James

SGLarry Hughes

PGDamon Jones

VERY good team, might go all the way, as long as the Heat don't kick their asses, anyway, best of luck to the Celtics, good team, but I doubt they can toppple the Cavs.

Posted
Cavs have a good team, but they have not gelled yet. They could be vulnerable early, but I don't consider them East favorites just because of Hughes (who isn't the 3-pt shooter they needed), Damon Jones, and Donyell Marshall. MUCH improved but, I'm not putting them in the finals.

Good point, kinda like the yankees, they had good players, but the facts are that they didn't, and haven't and won't and couldn't gell together. The Heat might be the same, but Shaq is a fantastic locker room presence, I have the Heat over the Spurs in 7

Yeah, I just watched the beginning of the game. It looks like Doc is making an effort to run the ball up the floor, EVERYTIME. The few times they did go into half court sets they didnt fare well. Perk looks GREAT. He lost like... 20 pounds, much faster, and a much better leaper that he was last year. Dickau is just as advertised, great passer, decent shooter. He had this one bullet pass to Pierce who made a tough lay in. Justin Reed has also been pretty impressive too, with a pretty spectacular block on Donyell Marshall. Uhh, Gomes has been all over the place. Pierce, Ricky, Raef, Delonte, and Blount all looked good as well. Blount actually does look like a different player, I'm surprised. Hes been putting the ball on the floor, which hes actually not very bad at.
Posted
Uhhh... Dickau does not suck at all. Hes probably one of the best passers on this team, and he runs the floor well and is a solid defender. Please educate yourself before you post in this thread again.

Hes improving then huh? Dickau has bounced around and hasn't had a consistent stay with any team maybe he has found a place in Boston...:dunno: Does he start YanksHater?

Posted
I dont know yet, no one does. Its between him and West. He has definitely improved from starting last year for New Orleans. He really isnt a great shooter, but hes solid everywhere else.
Posted
Amazing. Someone agrees with me. I think this is finally the year he breaks out as a star.

All he needs is more clock, and with the starting role, I think he's going to get it. Also ball hogger walker is gone for good most likely.

Posted
Yeah, tell me about it. Pierce and him will be about 30% of the offense this year. I also think Jefferson and West will breakout, and (hold me to this) I think MARK BLOUNT will have a huge season.
