Danny Ainge has successfully made 3 bogus trades this season

Walter to Denver for a Draft Pick

Welsch to Cavs for 2007 first rounder

GP, Gug's, Stewart and future DP, for Antione

3 trades, only 1 player in return

Posted

I think its a pretty damn good trade. Payton is 36, aging, and declining. Googs and Stewart played little, and did little. Payton wasnt going to resign anyways (at least i think). That, for Antoine, who single-handedly led us to the Eastern Conference Finals. The man is a leader, and will be a perfect fit for this team. I hope Ainge will also re-up him for years to come, as he was actually my favorite player until he left.

Walter went to Phoenix.

I can't wait to see the starting 5 now. I think he has 3 options:

G- Allen

G- Pierce

C- Blount

F- LaFrentz

F- Antoine

G- Davis

G- Pierce

C- Blount

F- Lafrentz

F- Antoine

OR

G- Banks

G- Pierce

C- Blount

F- LaFrentz

F- Antoine

I would personally like to see Doc try out the first one, except with Pierce at the point because I dont see Allen, Banks, or Delonte as being mature enough to call the game. I do like the idea though of putting Pierce or Davis at the point. But at the same time I like Ricky coming off the bench. Itll be an interesting decision. I cant wait to hear the fans reactions on March 2nd.

So now Payton is aging and declining now that he's not a Celtic. And you were the one who guaranteed me that Payton wasn't going anywhere and would re-sign with them. When was the last time you criticized the Celtics?

I guaranteed you that before we traded him. I criticize them all the time. I think that he should have never traded Walter but it had to be done. But admit it, you know that trading Welsch for a FIRST ROUND PICK was an awesome trade. Payton has always been aging and declining. Dont get me wrong, hes still a good basketball player, but I would rather have a natural-born leader, and someone who has led this very team to the Eastern Conference Finals before.

And you are just a bandwagon fan... f***ing nuggets fan

i'm so happy. I remember the good old days when antoine pierce and battie kicked some serious ass. I believe some rookie is going to play paytons position. I'm not big on bastketball and I watch sportsdesk so i see it a lot. Was payton demanding a trade?

They are saying on ESPNNEWS right now that Gary Payton could come back to Boston

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't report to Atlanta, but I think he'd sign with a West Coast team.

I heard this too, and if this happens, watch the f*** out. I think we would actually be the best team in the division again, and we would be right up there with Detriot, Indy and Miami. Too bad Ainge waited this long to pull the trigger on a deal that could have been done a while ago...

But Holy s***. That starting lineup would make me salivate...

G- Payton

G- Pierce

C- Blount

F- LaFrentz

F- Walker

DAMN, especially with Davis, Allen, Jefferson, Delonte and Banks coming off the bench. I really think they would then be a top team in the East... I am excited to watch them play tonight, and I cant wait until the first home game back.

Oh, and Stocker, he has said he likes it here. He likes what Ainge did, and the young kids he brought in, and how well he's been treated. So he could still come back. Hopefully we wont sign him long term because I see Banks and Delonte playing the bulk of the time next season, but you never know, we will see what happens.

To be a bandwagon fan you have to:

A: Suddenly become a fan when they become a good team

B: Actually be a fan of a good team

The Nuggets arent even that good and I wanted to pick a NBA team to root for since there was no hockey this year.

You used to be a Celtics fan. I remember you were a fan (I remember many instances, try me) when they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals vs. the Nets. Then mysteriously next year you were a nets fan. Now you are a fan of another good team, the Nuggets. Evidence that you are a bandwagon fan. Cant stick with your team during the tough times.

Nuggets aren't even that good, just because they killed the Celtics twice, doesn't mean that they are any good. I picked the Nugs at the beginning of the year, I didn't want to be a Nets fan because that would mean I'd be rooting for the same team that Yankee fans root for. And the reason I did not like the Celtics anymore is because when just the Celtics and Bruins were playing, all anyone talked about was the Celtics, and no one ever gave any mention to the Bruins, so I ended up disliking the Celtics.

I recall having this conversation with you... the only people that like hockey are me and you. And you were a Nets fan, dont deny it.

I'm not denying I was a Nets fan, but I didn't want to be one anymore because, Yankee fans rooted for them.

On a side note, Chris weber got traded to the 6ers so were going to need to fight AI-Weber with Twon-Pierce(payton).

Didn't payton wanna get out of boston.

Any chance Delonte starts over Marcus Banks at PG? I haven't been following the C's as much this season as I have in the past.

Nuggets have a good team, they have proven that the coach makes all the difference. They have a decent PG in miller, a rising star in carmelo, and a proven PF and defender in k-mart, add that with camby, nene (who many teams called about at the trading deadline, including the celtics), and boykins and they will make a serious run in the playoffs

does it really matter which nba team he roots for? i change depending on who's playing. i always root against the lakers and always root for the celtics but when it comes to the other games it can be anything goes.. who really cares.. s***, let the guy root for whoever he wants.

Antoine had a double double, 24 points 10 rebounds. What a great game for him, and Delonte West, who has 16 and 7 himself. I really liked the starting lineup Doc used with Delonte, Allen, Pierce, Antoine and Raef. I think now that Payton is gone, this team will be much better because it will be much more fast pace, up-tempo basketball.

Damn its awesome imagining how much potential this team has.

Posted
He could come back you idiot... he has to be released or bought out first... then he signs with who he choses. The more I think about it though, the more I realize that the team we have right now is more of a up-tempo running team, and Payton doesnt bring that to the table. I would rather see Banks and West (who both had great games last night, by the way) in there running the floor, than Payton walking it up the floor.

I'm not big on basketball.

I don't know much about basketball so it doesnt make me an idiot. However it makes you a class A *******.
