I don't know if Billy Beane could hook us up with God, but maybe a similar player. I personally like Youkillis, and he has the potential to be a solid player. Third base is also a position that it's hard to find good talent at, so I've set my mind on keeping him right now. Unless of course we get a stud in a trade for him.

how about nomar, youlkis, and mueller for chaves and crosby... i think nomar will need surgery and end up being on the shelf for longer than anyone wants to admit.

Um trying to start new conversation about a topic which is somewhat relevant and looking through old threads to see if there is a thread which talks about the topic he wants to talk about. This is turning into as Dane Cook calls it "A nothing fight" so let's just calm down and go back to posting.

I agree. But when was the last time youkilis was discussed in being traded? I'm pretty sure he'll be a Red Sox this year.

Just because it hasn't been mentioned recently doesn't mean that it isn't possible that Youk could be traded so chill out. I don't understand why you are so offended.:dunno:

The Sox have two fist basemen and when the trade deadline comes around they may find themselves looking at a good deal involving Youk. I don't think they should trade him and I hope he gets the vast majority of playing time over Snow.

They have 2 1st baseman, not to see who's best at it. Snow is going to be mainly what Meinky & Olerud had done, pinch hit/late innings defensive replacement. Snow doesnt have that much left in him to start 140+ games. It is Youk's job until said different.

 

I am however hoping (it is a longshot) for the Sox to acquire Derrek Lee in the offseason.

That would be sick if we could get D-Lee, what gives you the impression we could get him. Unless he's a FA after the season, I don't think Chicago will be willing to trade him and even if he is a FA, they will probably try their hardest to retain him.

He is a free agent this next offseason. Anything close to 2005 levels, he could command a 4-6 year deal. Budget-wise, the Sox have the upperhand over the Cubs. Also the Sox will have his former teammates: Beckett, Lowell, and Gonzo (if resigned) to try & entice him to the Hub.
