  1. Clement is decent, but he's a #4 starter right now at best. Until he can become consistent throughout a full season, as well as finally harness his talent, he won't be much better than that.
  2. Isn't $30 mill more than the total payrolls for one or two teams?
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2038308 I guess all that talk about Sheets being available at the trade deadline isn't going to come to pass now. Thoughts?
  4. Hopefully it won't leave any impairment of any sort. We'll see how he recovers, though.
  5. TV ratings would be higher if the ring ceremony was during the home opener vs. the Yankees.
  6. That's ********, plain and simple. Do you think the Yankees would hesitate for a second to do it in front of the Sox? What's the difference, anyway? Hell, Steinbrenner should be happy; it'll give the Yanks players some motivation. Come on Henry, Lucchino, et al.; you've stood up to Georgie plenty before. Do it again this time when it counts.
  7. Yeszir, you're a special guy. Very special.
  8. I'm sorry, but I'd take Santana over Sheets by far. I'm not sure about Prior yet; we'll see how he rebounds from his disappointing season last year. But Santana has dominating stuff, has had success for a couple years in a row, and as a lefty, has that much more value. Sheets as well has unquestionably great stuff, but the jury's still out on his makeup, and we need to see if he can duplicate last season. Not that I wouldn't joygasm all over the place if the Sox acquired him
  9. Glad you're here. I'll hopefully be joining you out there in California in September, pending letters from several colleges. :dunno:
  10. Sheets and Santana are, unquestionably, going to be at the head of the next generation of aces, along with Prior, and maybe Beckett (is he still 25-ish? I don't know). Sheets, though, is hitting the market, and you know it's going to become a bidding war for him. At least he doesn't have Boras as his agent.
  11. Gotta be Schiling. How is he not in your poll?
  12. I don't think it'll be a problem for anyone. Youkilis is fine, and it's not like the lineup doesn't have enough firepower already.
  13. Damon, then Tek, then Theo.
  14. ACC sportswriters covering the event were all provided with bright yellow and maroon t-shirts proclaiming "The ACC's Got A New BICH!" Are you serious? How can you tell me that didn't set alarm bells off in your head, if nothing else did?
  15. That sounds like an excellent plan to me.
  16. OK, there were several reasons why we closed the league down, but the first and foremost reason was that the sim league was the root of just about every argument and little bitchy fight on the site. Seriously, even the Yankees - Red Sox rivalry is relatively civil around here. The sim league arguments basically boiled down to: "Shut up." "You shut up." "You're a poopy head." "My daddy can beat up your daddy."
  17. You'd take Clemens over Schill? What are you smoking?
  18. The commercials this year are going to suck. The networks have been more anal than usual this year about risque subjects.
  19. Offense is all well and good, but when your #1 starter is Mike Maroth, I think they need to turn their attention to their pitching staff to be competitive.
  20. Santana probably won't stay with the Twins; he'll want probably around $15 million/year, andt he Twins just can't provide that. Hello, Yankees...
  21. What the hell, I'll be in...
  22. Good riddance.
  23. Patriots: 20 Eagles: 13 MVP: Dillon
  24. One of the greatest NFL players of all time has finally hung up the spikes, after 15 seasons in the league. He'll obviously get into Canton, since he owns half the league's rushing records, and won three Super Bowl rings to boot. It's too bad he had to go out like he did, playing for absolutely nothing with the Cardinals.
  25. Magglio's pretty much definitely Detroit-bound right now. No other team is willing to give him a huge multi-year deal, so his options are basically either to sign with the Tigers now, or wait it out and pray some other team gets desperate. My money's on option one.
