  1. This is a huge move by the C's. Gives us 3-4 year window that should improve every year. FAs will finally come to Boston too. Good work, at last, Ainge. Some good analysis on a blog I found: http://www.vicksdogs.com
  2. Ellsbury is nearing a promotion.
  3. okay in that case I will go with 7 red sox left on base ( Team LOB )
  4. Again, not to step on your toes here, but I don't believe 5/29 makes sense for the prize. What yeszir said makes more sense.
  5. How obscure can i make this stat? If i can put it really out there I'd like to say: 7 red sox fly ball outs after 2 outs in the red sox' half of the 7th inning.
  6. The prize is for when exactly? 5/29 wouldn't make sense...
  7. I f***ing Hate The Colts. Don't Give Me Any Of This "thanks For The Memories" ********. If This s*** Is True Adam Is Worse Than Johnny. He Is Nothing To Me And We Must Burn An Effigy Of Him Before The Afc Championship Next Year.
  8. Wasn't a big part of our post-season collapse due to Varitek who hit a wall at the end of the season? I remember reading a lot about him just simply tiring out at the end of the year on into the postseason. Because of this I believe the sox will be giving him MORE days off this year to assure he's not going purely on adrenaline come playoffs. What I'm saying is, I see it being HIGHLY unlikely that he becomes Wakefield's regular catcher. Also, does the banning of amphetamines affect a guy like V-tek even further if he's already getting tired when they were legal???
  9. WHAT IN HOLY HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN? THAT'S THE WORST MONIKER I HAVE EVER READ/HEARD.
  10. Right. And how old were you when he left Boston to make you hate him so much? Do you even remember him pitching for the Red Sox whatsoever?
  11. Hey all. So in the middle of poli sci lecture I was obviously F-ing around and writing down some Sox stuff in my notebook. And I came to this epiphany -- what if the Sox legitimitely don't trade D Wells? Personally, I think they will, but comparing a team with D Wells vs. one without, the team with him looks a WHOLE lot better to me. Anyway under this new scenario all I think we really need to do is trade Graffy for a bag of balls. But it looks kinda like this: C: Varitek 1B: Youks 2B: Loretta SS: A-Gon 3B: Lowell LF: Man-Ram CF: Cocoa Puffs RF: Trot DH: Dortiz Bench: Flaherty, Snow, Cora, Mohr SP: D Wells SP: Curt Schilling SP: J Beckett SP: Wakey SP: Clement RP: Foulke RP: Timlin RP: Papelbon RP: Riske RP: Seanez RP: Tavarez RP: Bronson Comments: I'm liking this team A LOT. Now there are a few problems. One is that we only have four bench players -- but I think we really would be okay. Youk could shift to 3B if needed. Or Papi to 1st. Maybe just make sure Cora would be okay in OF too and that shouldn't be TOO big of a problem. The bullpen doesn't have a lefty. But I don't believe this is the end of the world. ALL of those guys are strong pitchers and a few even are pretty effective against lefties. But on to the positives. And I mean mainly the pitching. That rotation is SWEET. Clement as a 5th starter is highly excellent. Our bullpen is AWESOME. Everyone is good! Also, if Curt is hurt or someone is ineffective we got BronBron right there to step in as a starter. I'd say D wells wins 15, Curt 10, Beckett 15, Wake 13, and Clement 13. That's a total of 66. If the seven guys in the bullpen average 4 wins apiece (which they can) thats a win total of 94; mmmmmm. I simply see our bullpen dominating with both papelbon AND bronson. the rotation ain't half bad either. if we get a prospect for Graffy then our minors didn't even take too much of a hit this season either!
  12. nomar is basically a guaranteed injury. so much for stability...
  13. you guys are way off. this is a great trade. marte is arguably the no. 1 prospect in the game!!! i'd like to see us now move Lowell for a package of players (possibly including Romero?). Would be thrilled to see 3B platooned by Youky and Marte and SS platooned by Cora and Pedroia. Then we need to make some sort of move for a nice hitting 1B.
  14. i could be wrong, but wasn't Duchscherer traded to the Texas Rangers FOR Doug Mirabelli? For some reason that sticks with me and it would really be full circle to be getting him back and dumping mirabelli..
  15. sorry if this has already been posted... http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/12/03/ramirez_wells_bring_interest/ i strongly recommend everyone reads it! padres apparently have offered mark loretta for david wells, sooo sweet! that's filling a position we need with great quality in exchange for something i already consider gone.
  16. zito still had 14 wins and a 3.86 ERA in a "down year." that's still pretty sick. I say that's the type of year we could expect from him with the possibility of an 02-type season. sooooooo worth it. and who really cares about that package. zito replaces arroyo. youkilis will probably just rot on the bench. alvarez ain't nothing. and delcarmen is a decent prospect to give up but a loss we can absorb especially after picking up van buren.
  17. let's get his ass over here. Barry Zito for Bronson Arroyo Kevin Youkilis Abe Alvarez Manny Delcarmen And I don't wanna hear ANY crap about giving up too many prospects here -- ZITO!!
  18. oh yeah and can we PLEASE go after Zito. Pitching is far and away the most important thing. Give up Youkilis, Alvarez, cash and even another prospect for Zito. Seeing as Beane just gave out huge money to Loaiza he has clearly lost his genius and would probably accept this offer. DO THIS TRADE. Schilling Beckett Zito Wake/Clement Paps/Arroyo Umm, yes.
  19. Texas is DESPERATE for pitching. what about a swap of clement and a prospect or two (hopefully acquired in Manny trade) for Soriano. We then put Soriano at 2B for this season and in CF the following seasons (i.e. bye-bye johnny). we spend the money to resign sori and have saved $ on clement, manny and johnny -- probably an eye popping amount of $ annually that we could spend in a whole variety of ways. intrigues me greatly..
  20. it's worth mentioning... in acquiring lowell in the Blockbuster we acquired a replacement at 3B for mueller without having to give up a draft pick as compensation for whatever other 3B we might have signed. Along with this we should get a 1st and supplemental pick from whatever team signs Mueller. What I'm really trying to say is that these picks might someday amount to an Anibal Sanchez and at least a Harvey or Delgado, maybe even a Hanley.
  21. two big questions that i'd love a response to... 1) if the sox do in fact get their hands on milledge, do they keep him? or do we spin him for a Dunn type. I see huge advantage to both. 2) is dustin pedroia actually ready to be our starting 2b? i become more skeptical by the day and believe penciling him in might be wishful thinking. what are the other options (don't say Kent) and what do you guys think of Pedroia's chances?
  22. this is my new version according to more recent rumors and transactions. please send along your critiques...
  23. Has anyone actually mentioned what we do if we get Milledge? Do we keep him and let him become our top prospect? Do we put him in the ML this year? Or is that Adam Dunn rumor still alive? I would love to spin Milledge to the Reds if we got Dunn who we could then stick in LF and put Youks at 1b. Thoughts? Answers?
  24. all of these comments are very much appreciated. don't get me wrong, i love manny as much as the next guy and would be thrilled to have him in boston for the duration of his contract, but he has straight up requested a trade a luchino has made public statements to the affect that we will follow through with his request. so on that note i think we NEED to go after a guy like ervin santana for the long run. you don't like erstad? so what? he wont be here long. ervin santana will and he's going to be HUGE.
  25. I know it may sound ridiculous but I was maybe thinking of making this as professional as possible and then possibly sending it to Yawkey Way...
