  1. This doesnt feel like starting from a base of a team that made the postseason last year, does it?
  2. So Pumpsie was right all along and we should be building for 2029?
  3. yes because everyone has breakouts and year to year grown like duran Duran went from borderline bust to borderline mvp. I wouldnt expect that to like ever happen again.
  4. FWIW , Duran was an ironman with an MVP level WAR and under team control during that same time. Have you ever, um, looked at Andrew Painter? I mean really look at him? Cuz hes a string bean.
  5. Okay, say we resign Bregman and flip Abreu for pitching. No other notable moves. You liking the lineup?
  6. Appreciation of intangible assets counts.
  7. this is my theory. that bres doesnt know how to talk to people.
  8. any plus bat, i mean. cuz if we lose bregman and dont get a big bat then its cedanne who HAS to go. You cant go with RA Duran Story Yoshida Romy (1b) Nav Mayer Cedanne Hamilton You cant, right? Right? (looks around nervously)
  9. Are we getting bregman back and schwarber? If not, im not trading any bat for pitching.
  10. I really didnt want to trade Duran last year mid-season but I am more open to it now, especially that his value seems to be quite high. But we cant just swap him for a P and be fine with the offense that remains (you know this, but im not sure everybody does) You can lose Bregman and Duran from last years noodlebat team. Some seem to be fine with it (and then hope story opts out too).
  11. you think he was surprised? I promise you , boras went to him with a chance to match it and he refused. I guess you can be taken aback when reminded of something that you already knew was going to do or did happen. Maybe thats called reopening old wounds. BUt he knew , and it didnt seem to me like it appeared like he knew bogey was gone.
  12. He may have a net loss in a given year, but no way hes operating consistently at a loss. I shouldnt say no way, replace that with "quite improbable to me"
  13. I had forgotten he throws right cuz he bats left. Yeah, thats a bit of a dampener on the plan. Still more guys can hit than guys who can hit AND play 1b. And im willing to go with a non ideal 1b if it means we can upgrade hoskins -> schwarber in the lineup.
  14. but i do agree mvp, that while that moment was not what i would call authentic, it may have been his most authentic moment because there was some truth to him being somewhat sad to know bogey was for sure out...But he played it up for the cameras Then they replaced one actor (bloom) with another in bres Just talk to us. Stop trying to spin/narrative everything. We see through you (bloom, bres, henry, full throttle guy...).
  15. Authentic? Do you think that was actual surprise? Of course he knew that the sox bid wasnt competitive. Agents communicate. Of course Boras went to him and was like last chance and he said no. Then hes like what bogey isnt a rs anymore. Hold on. Im sure it was genuine that part of him felt lousy for a great relationship ending. Im not saying he wasnt sad about it. But it was played up for the cameras becuase it was known by that point.
  16. Because if thats total revenue and only player payroll, then that means mets prob operate at a net loss when you factor in stadium depreciation, front office budget, coach budget, stadium crew, marketing dept, advertising ....And I dont think thats the case.
  17. not intended at you , but no way these numbers are accurate. Does this include all revenue? All payroll (including front office, ballpark vendors/maint)? I think the numbers are actually worse (from a standpoint of ownership greed)....For example, I wonder if that payroll number is like 60% of all payroll (because its not counting things like TV or merch or tax penalty sharing) but the payroll numbers still not 100% (becuse not counting like stadium maint crew or 3b coaches) but the payroll numbers being somewhere between 60% and 100%. So both numbers actually higher, but revenue number is like 30% underrepresented and payroll only like 15% underrepresented. Meaning owners even more margin than this implies. Could be wrong
  18. Which is why Im thinking Romy continues to be a part of this club in some capacity.
  19. And im over here like.....boo this man!
  20. But it goes beyond these teams for me. Teams like the rangers. They were jumping for joy when they won the ws, and then immediately got to work on cost cutting. I understand the tv contracts going to crap was a big part of a lot of it. Baltimore could have done more, they had a once in a lifetime farm system maturing on the same timeline. Texas Rangers instead of trying to repeat as champs, they couldnt wait to use the ws victory as an excuse to immediately cut payroll (me wonders if thats WHY they were happy they won. Woohoo, a ship! Takes the pressure off the next decade, time to get s-t-i-n-g-y). Teams falling jsut short like dbacks and then just not doing what they can to add/get back. I would only be a little surprised, if we started hearing, look we gave you a playoff appearance last season, rs fans. Dont get greedy, its time to focus on profits cuz we wanna buy the NY jets! Wouldnt that be swell!
