  1. casas is an option, but not one we should put any reliance in at all.
  2. I can see Yoshida hitting .280, 19 HR and playing adequate 1b. I feel comfy in my assessment that yoshida has the better chance to be a ballplayer going forward. I think we start hearing rumblings of casas getting "close" in like late may, but then like july arrives and everyone is like where is this guy, and maybe similar to yoshida (last year) he comes back in a dh capacity half way through the season, but i think he hurts himself very soon thereafter
  3. I think your expectations are fair. I love this version of you when you call out their b.s.
  4. what did we pay this guy again? Freaking yanks have max fried last year and this year at like 12m. How did they get that and were paying like equal money to dudes who wont get on the field.
  5. at this point, i think they are all pretty far removed and its up to breslow, and that would explain why hes looking to hire a gm and build out his team problem is - who the heck would want to work for that stiff?
  6. yeah, i meant no free-agents or trades as my most suprising offseason that could happen. In this circumstance Anthony is on the team and devers isnt *im not pulling for no adds, lol
  7. i dont disagree, my entry was no gio/bregman/anybody I would personally be surprised, but i think its within realm of possibility they go full internal.
  8. I think theyll spend it, but it wont be for top talent. For example after they "interest king" on top names, they come empty, more than anything for a refusal to commit years necessary So then they realize they are coming up empty, so they make some panic 1 yr splashes and overpay mediocre and hurt people because those guys are willing to take 1 or 2 year deals, but the AAV ends up being high enough that they can say they spent the money. My fear is just a revolving door of mediocre players on short term contracts
  9. No, for the same money, I meant all else being equal, as in take any financial commitment out of the equation. Who do I feel has a better chance of helping this team next year: yoshida or casas - im choosing yoshida yoshida is like capable of running. I think the chance of casas getting and staying healthy is near 10%, masas like 40%. And if they are both healthy, I think give masa two weeks to learn 1b and hes better than casas I think casas doesnt have the body or athleticism to play professional sports I think Masa could be a kinda-decent 1b, just no pop which obv stinks and im not advocating for that.
  10. good points, ive said that im fine with one of schwarber or alonso and letting the casas vs yoshida battle for the other. I give 0 casas 0 points for first base, as i figure any of the above can play 1b at least as adequately. Especially yoshida (giving up a bit of reach)
  11. good question, the most surprising yet realistic the sox can make is no further acquisitions, just roll over the same team with mayer in for bregman and early in for gio
  12. unless you are sesame streets the count because than all you want is to count on stuff.
  13. i like casas more when he isnt healthy I think when healthy, casas is the absolute slowest player in mlb, and i think he'll hit .190. And id rather him strikeout than draw a walk because then we dont have the slowest dude in mlb massachusetts stuck at 1b. You wanna talk wall ball singles? casas is 2 cheeseburgers away from wall-ball being thrown out at first base.
  14. no way. unless you mean the team that ended last season with no devers, ra, mayer, casas, and bregman in a slump, that had yoshida hitting cleanup - maybe better than that. But no way better than last years team at the beginning full strength A team that trades durant for pitching and enters with RA Story Casas Wilyer Yoshida Nav Mayer Campbell Cedanne Even if this team stays healthy and you get a good pitcher for durant so you have crochet, acquired pitcher, bello, early and return the same bp you are third place at best, but more likely fourth
  15. if casas cant clear yoshida, then youve got your answer for the same money? id rather have yoshida.
  16. and your trading for that sp'er so minus duran too. But yes, replacing raffy and duran and gio with hoskins and "a very solid #2" does appear to be a step backwards. And thats even after i factor in more RA.
  17. john henry likes it when the sox get a good free agent, but he loooooves it when the dodgers do it because they are already in the penalty, so it juices the nice check he receives from teams that still care (about 5 of them) incurring penalties.
  18. john henry use to have passion for our sox. now he uses the sox as a cash generating vehicle so he can expand his growing collection of franchises.
  19. blame the dodgers because they spend hundreds of millions in penalties to other clubs who pocket the hundreds of millions for the competitive imbalance and not the owners of the pirates is wild. If they voted, the owners would vote against the salary cap because nobody loves teh dodgers spending more than the 25 members of the greedy billionaires club because they get to pocket the penalties!!!
  20. Like Notin said, the jays just committed 500m and were finalists on ohtani and soto offering them ginormous contracts themselves. Its not like the dodgers, payroll wise, are super far out in front. Really its the big 5 of Dodgers, Mets, Yanks, Phils, Jays leaving everyone else in the dust. But again, your blame (my opinion) is better placed on the other 25 owners, the greedy billionaires club who buy, hoard, and use beloved franchises as nothing more than cash cows because who doesnt need a third yacht!
  21. Out of both sides of their mouth too "we tried like really really really hard to improve the roster, and we just couldnt get any deals done. We , like the fans, are disappointed. But at the end of hte day, its about wins and losses, and we think we are going to have more wins than we would have had if the dudes who we tried to sign were signed. Hold on, I have to go fire the dude who told me that what i just said doesnt make sense.
