We have 4 good hitters, abreu for paredes + and we have (checks notes)....4 good hitters WEve got enough pitching for 2 entire rotations and enough hitting for 4/9 a lineup Trading a bat for a bat is not the answer (my opinion)

Id rather trade a pitcher and if Houston doesnt want a pitcher, Id rather move on. Id offer Bello, Early, and Harrison for Marte before I offered Abreu for Paredes and Billy Jean King.

Its very hard to trade Duran and improve the offense. I dont think Masa just comes in and replaces Duran at the plate. Duran is an offensive driver to me, and Masa is just trying to draw a walk or push a single through the infield and then play station to station and to me they are universes apart. I dont want Masa hitting in the top 4 of the lineup.

Cant disagree. Like 5GG said, I dont think we can trade any of our four plus bats (duran, abreu, anthony, contreras) because I think you 8 capable starting pitchers and 15 capable hitters (I think we have more than 4 capable hitters, but not more than four "plus" hitters) So Im just more against trading Duran than you are. But I do believe you that you like the guy even though you consider options that include trading him. Theres a world I trade Duran, there are more worlds that you trade Duran. Im just more hesitatnt to it than you. But I see your points and they are reasonable. Duran is not a perfect leader, I know that. I do love a mental health rebound story. Greinke is one as well. Also, I was captain trade duran 2 years ago and ive eaten my crow over there. Not here but in my text messages.

I disagree that we need a 3b/2b more than we need someone who leads by example in the weight room. Have you looked at Mayer and Story? Do you know what will help them stay healthy? Have you ever been on a team and had to be accountable to someone like Duran? You dont want him texting you that ur being a [censored] and so you get ur butt up and you get to the gym

Justin Turner switched from 3b to 2b when he couldnt play 3b anymore. Than he switched to part time 2b / part time 1b when he couldnt play 2b 160 games anymore. Then he switched to part time 1b/part time dh when he couldnt really field anymore. Then he switched to pure backup/bench player. Ive seen a few times the ability to field goes before the ability to hit. Old Mike Lowell comes to mind as a guy who would limp to the plate get solid wood on the ball and smash it into the gap then limp to first. And he couldnt field or really move but he could still hit and im not sure if theres value in carrying those kind of guys on your 26 man in 2026 (no offense to lowell). But I honestly dont think that suarez could get through 160 games or even 140 at 3b right now , and I dont mean "because they wouldnt be pretty" I mean because his body would break. Hes not an in shape 35.

Have you ever looked at Suarez? Hes got a bowling ball belly and hes 35. Im not worried about him being a butcher at 3b. I literally dont think he could do it even if we wanted him to and he wanted to. For 165 games. Im sure he could get through a game. There comes an age when you just cant play 3b anymore. I think its harder than 2b because the ball comes at you fast and so you crash around out there, plus you need a bigger body to make the throw. I think thats why we prefer Mayer at 3b because he's 6'3 and its harder to find a big athletic guy than it is to find a 5'11 guy for 2b Cant teach size

YES YES YES Look, all last year we heard about the elusive "baseball trade" I got sick of hearing it on the deadline NESN shows. "These kind of trades are so rare, its jsut a pure baseball trade with one ball club and another ball club just trying to better their clubbbbs" (and it would not happen). We tried all year, up to and through the deadline last year and all offseason really, and it never happened because they are super rare for the reasons you mention. Its just so much easier for a win now team to line up with a win later team. None of this balance, none of this buy and sell, none of this "its a pure baseball trade like in the old school days" - the trades are so hard to line up and execute and we're just burning time and seeing the available players dwindle one by one while we try to work out a trade involving sending an MLB starting outfielder for and MLB starting pitcher (all deadline) or an MLB infielder (this offseason) and we cant get it done and theres a reaason for that and you nailed the reason. Because I can look at these two men and know that they are not interchangeable. Masa's arms look like a normal person. Duran looks like a gym rat. I think that is what you are seeing in the 2025 OPS variance. I think maybe when Masa was younger he was strong enough to drive the ball even without living in the gym but you just dont have to worry about it with Duran. Time in gym > nerds

I like the sound of your cat. My cat is very doglike herself, and I had to convert her to indoors. Sorry Duranistheman and MVP, the street birds I didnt mind as much but the baby bunny murders broke my heart. I dont know how my cat can be so sweet and loving and snuggly with all humans even strangers. She even likes medium sized dogs (I dont trust her around small ones) but she is an absolute monster to mice, birds, rabbits. So I converted her to indoor only. ALso, she started losing fights to other cats and thats how you get kitty aids (getting scratched up and bit up). I didnt mind her fighting the neighorhood cats when she was winning the fights but one time I heard her shriek under a car and a bully larger, younger cat was bullying her and Im not going to say she didnt deserve it but shes my princess and she never went outside again. I thought it would be harder to convert her to only indoors but it wasnt. Once in a while shell lay by the door and try to sneak out but most of the time shed rather be curled up in a warm lap anyways. I feel like if she was murdering more exotic or cooler birds I would have minded more (not to imply that a birds life matters more if its pretty even though thats kind of exactly what Im implying) - but with like those gray street birds there are like hundreds of thousands on my block alone in the summer - I just hated when she would bring them home alive because now im chasing the thing around with a broom and its too dumb to find and fly out of the open window even though they are all open.

I dont think Suarez as a 3b (everyday) was realistic. This could have been the lineup sometimes, but I dont think Suarez could give you more than 70 games at 3b. Which is fine cuz Raf shouldnt sit for 100% either, but it doesnt really matter anymore.
