  1. You make room for an elite thumper when you have 0. Defenses arent rigid in 2026. The amount of "slashes" (as in multiple position players) is at an all-time high and increasing.
  2. I think we are a playoff team as is, but I think we need more thump to go further in the playoffs We are a solid/good team, but not a great team.
  3. Or because he almost single handedly won the world series with a bum leg and nobody could get him out last year. If he goes back to Toronto, you are losing every game against Toronto. Becuase hes gonna drive in runs and we are not. As is , we'll clean up against teams like KC, Cle, Twins, Angels because we'll win a lot of 2-1 and 1-0 games. But against teams like Tor, NYY, Phi, LAD, SEa - we're going to get got more than we get with a team built around pitching and defense. Cuz guys like Vlad and Judge will eat, and your pitching depth wont stop it. Neither will a 3b who gives you 5 extra outs above replacement. ALso - who wants to watch a team of noodlebats
  4. No bad defenders in the field, plural (note the s), we can have one. Like when the stonecutters became the no homers club but they let in one homer but couldnt let in Homer Jay Simpson because they were at quota at one.
  5. Yeah, I dont hate it. I might be crazy and still get Geno.
  6. One thing that MVP said to me once that stuck with me is that it kind of takes effort to separate Bloom and Breslow. Because a large amount of fans see JH as the bad guy, and a swap of BLoom for Breslow isnt particularly consequential - just swapping of "yes man" And that view, which is shared by a lot, doesnt really bother me, and there may be some elements of truth to both CBOs/GMs having similar restrictions - but it just seems like theres more moves under Breslow and I applaud that. Breslow is winning me over with the activity. And I do think there are moves (likely multiple) to follow and im not talking about RP depth. Im talking impact. Breslow is impactful.
  7. So go gangbusters fixing the pitching, make sure you are rock solid defensively, and just let the hitting work itself out But its pitchers who come out of nowhere (see Early). Every year the top 30 pitchers varies much more widely than hitters. And with all the punch outs in the game today, focusing on defense is not the way. It gets really hard to watch a team that cant score. The hitting didnt work itself out last year, we were noodlebat city upon reaching the playoffs. The hitting may work itself out, but if you added another very good hitter like we should have done, imagine having that in addition to any breakouts.
  8. Contreras will play some C, Geno would play some 1b/DH, Masa would lose practically all PT, Cedanne would play some infield Geno would play the most at DH, Contreras would play the most at 1b, Cedanne would play the most at CF, but they wouldnt be stuck to their positions like its 1998 I think theres room for a 1b/dh type, but cedanne would play some infield.
  9. Yeah, Im a Duran guy - but that smells like a rare win/win
  10. Crochet Tolle Jason Lee Scott Sonny came home Theres not even a playoff rotation spot for Bello and/or Early
  11. Likely because other teams are getting aggressive on the position players and this was a way to shop without getting into bidding wars.
  12. Jason is a good get, dont get me wrong
  13. Because we have 9 good starting pitchers and Duran is our most trust worthy hitter. Trade Cedanne, if anyone.
  14. So we got Jason, eh? Not a bad pitcher, but I had a lot of confidence in Crochet, Sonny, Tolle, and Bello If they trade Tolle, Ill lose my sh*t Maybe they'll trade Early for a bat?
  15. Sure, Im open to Duran for Paredes and more, but my first choice is harrison and philips for paredes. If they insist on Duran, we need more.
  16. Give me either Bo OR Paredes AND Geno Suarez
  17. I can be talked into giving Duran for Paredes (and more) if we are also signing Geno. KC works too. My main point is that in 2026, theres very little full time at a specific position. And because we failed to land any big dollar free-agents, its easier to just ignore Yoshida now. IF we go sign Bo, we prob wont also be able to bump Yoshida off DH for Suarez. I almost see it as Bo/Yoshida OR Paredes/Geno. Either of these and its a salvage.
  18. With injuries/slumps/and the DH spot, there will be plenty of playing time for mayer. We'll just be a 2026 team in 2026. Guys moving around, hottest 9 bats playing, plenty of days off, plenty of platooning. New school, baby. Adapt or get left behind.
  19. We didnt want to consider Yoshida's 18m sunk when we were trying to fit an Alonso, or a Bregman. Now that is no longer an issue, its easier to justify Yoshida in a non everyday capacity. Trade Harrison and Philips for Paredes; sign Suarez. (The order of positions below matter, also, guys are listed based on number of games played, the spacing isnt intentional Story SS/2b Paredes 3B/2b/1B/DH Eugenio Sanchez DH/3b/1b Anthony LF/CF/DH Duran CF/LF/DH Abreu RF Contreras: 1b/c/DH Cedanne: CF/2b/ss Nav: C Mayer 2b/3b/ss Romy 2b/3b/1b/DH Yoshida: DH/LF/1b Casas: 1b/DH Wong: C DHam: 2b/3b/ss Mix and match.
  20. Bregman : 35m Paredes:9m* (if you flip Duran for him him, thats really only 1-2m) You can easily get Geno and Paredes (even if you dont include Duran)
  21. Bo was unstoppable last year before he got hurt, he came back for the world series, played hurt, and you still couldnt get him out. He was beating elite pitchers hurt. He was on absolute fire. Granted its baseball, and streaky in general. But I think you have to put a little extra weight on what youve seen most recently. Which makes Bo look 10x better than Geno. Im certainly NOT over here hoping we dont move on Bo. The pitching is already elite close to elite as well.
  22. Funny what having elite hitting can do
