  1. The pitching and defense model has failed. Lets look at offense, and this does not mean look at guys who are good defensively who can hit kinda.
  2. And give up Narvaez to do it! And do what exactly with the savings? Bullpen? Starter? Another noodlebat who can field a position?
  3. No. You lost me at "can hit" and "great fielder" I want "great hitter"
  4. This is also why I cant accept we are stuck with Breslow because if sack him, who next? Its literally hard to fail as hard as breslow has, even if we get a CBO who is literally trying to fail.
  5. Its hard to accept that in a parallel universe, two different CBOs from Bloom, Breslow could yield worse results if they even tried. Since 2020, we have 4 last place finishes in 7 years (including this one). Mix in one playoff series win (2021), one .500 year, and last year - which appears to be fools gold going by how much our issue was the holdovers" talk Im hearing. Maybe 2025 was Cora magic? Oop, Breslow ruined that relationship too. Shucks.
  6. I completely disagree. Breslow failed hard this offseason. And he has been failing since he got here.
  7. I think they are worthwhile of pointing out, but I agree that they cant be used to excuse away the bad offseason we had.
  8. Good article. I think the two possibilities here are either he maintains this counterintuitive trend or he doesnt. The argument for "he will not" is probably rooted in some form of "everything goes right when you are hot" or "hes going to be in trouble when he stops seeing the ball as a beach ball" But the argument to be made that its actually not voodoo/luck/or just a red hot hitter ....Its that the approach is actually a good one, which i know sounds crazy to the "keep the bat on your shoulders" chorus...But that argument and I know this is going to sound crazy.....A hitter looking to swing the bat is a confident hitter, and a hitter worried about swinging at balls is too deep in his own head. When Im hot, Im not looking to walk. When Im cold, I am.
  9. Post of the month, works on multiple levels (or should i say floors)
  10. "I am making billions off my baseball team, but it takes about 5 years for 1b of appreciation....In hockey, they are getting 1b in appreciation every 2.5 years.....waaaaaaaaa" My initial gut reaction is get out of here , greedy billionaires. But when I step back and try to think objectively, well hockey and football both have hard caps.....And basketball has a very limiting soft cap that almost acts like a hard cap....and maybe baseball shouldnt be the only spot where 3 owners can lap all other owners in spending even if its by choice.
  11. I do agree its really about revenue split, end of the day, Joe.
  12. If the owners move off of a hard cap, the negotiations will progress, maybe not completely linearly (you know how negotiations go), but I do feel like they will get there. Personally, I see both sides. So like baseball franchise values are accelerating rapidly but not at the rate of like nhl. John Henry made a billion dollars in 2 years (bought penguins for 1 bil, sell for 2bil, 2 years later)....Baseball teams arent going up at that rate. And make no mistake, the cap is 100% for ownership profits, 0% to do with general league competitiveness and health. And there is a hard cap in football and hockey (not basketball, but the soft cap seems to work better in basketball vs baseball). The compromise feels like no hard cap but so much penalties that it almost feels like a hard cap. But I dont think the owners come off the demand for a hard cap as quickly as you seem to. But I dont think your position is unreasonable and you have me hopeful theyll find the light at the end of the tunnel where both sides come away "okay"
  13. I meant Braden Ward. Granted the context was bad as i segued from external add to an internal candidate and looking back, i see why you guys thought i meant an external ward.
  14. I think if they move Duran , we see another bat brought in. Whats Wards OBP and is he serviceable defensively?
  15. I like Spencer idea. Hes a bat first player having a cold streak. Thats way different from a lets get better at backup catcher defense.
  16. Our DH for 2027 is likely Roman Anthony.
  17. I love being one injury away from a .150 OPS DH/1B.
  18. I thought we were all high fiving that we didnt get Alonso?
  19. You want to see this turkey at DH? 1B? You looking to improve the D behind the plate? This just feels like more of the same. We need a RH bat, lets limit the scope to guys who fit our positional holes....This is jsut another noodlebat taking a spot on the 26 man roster.
  20. They are more lost than the passengers of the flight that crashed on the mythical island.
  21. You advertised him as this " it makes sense to add him as a RHH C/1b/DH bat. "
  22. Not into Sean Murphy and with his .150 OPS and .050 batting average, that doesnt really sound like the RH bat we need. This is again, too much emphasis on position and not enough emphasis on just getting elite hitters.
