  1. Moon - dont get why you left-turned. Moon- worst case , even if we dont win division - cant be mad at lack of trying mvp - they only brought in bregman and crochet Moon -starts talking about the farm That last part is where you start losing me. My response to MVP would have been getting Bregman and Crochet is an awful lot of trying
  2. My thoughts are 1. Has anthony spent enough time now where even if they called him up, we wouldnt lose a year of control (if its like another 2 weeks, why not wait it out) 2. Who in CF? 3. Can Cora get over his love for Cedanne enough (or said another way, I dont dislike your idea as much as I think cora would) But i like a lot about your idea
  3. So....their best position player and best pitcher.
  4. Dated outlook. Nobody cares about "set positions". Good hitters who are positionally versatile is what you want and its what we got. Sure I second guess some of the decisions like Campbell in OF, but it does not imply that hes not a good major leaguer. And his versatility is an asset. Team is fun again.
  5. Do we get 30 years of team control for Bregman jr?
  6. I made a lot of money betting on Celtics (when they won the championship) and horses* *I lost every cent betting against LeBron individual over/under (points, rebounds, assists) subsequent season.
  7. People dont usually hit their ceiling their first month of their sophmore season
  8. We have enough guys hitting elsewhere in the lineup (knocks on wood)
  9. Oh, yikes.
  10. Robert may be the only stock going up these last couple days
  11. Which of the prospects are your favorites?
  12. Your name (and final sentence) leads me to believe that you underrate a good DH, but that aside. Id rather talk about your first two sentences. Is the transition/segway (not a word?) a message that Abreu is a third future HOF right-fielder? I stopped at MVP votes. Did I just get one-upped?
  13. I embrace streakiness and am a firm believer in riding the hot bat. But I know theres contra schools of thought about patience, the value of set roles and all that. Those arguments , however, feel a little too black/white to me but I dont discount them entirely
  14. I hear ya, and a lot can and will change throughout the season. But right now, if Abreu is feeling good, he may be too hot to sit. If he's feeling some fatigue with a lefty on the mound, makes sense to me. Also - if he cools down, sure go back to your regularly scheduled platoon. But for the next couple weeks, if hes feeling good, its hard to bench him.
  15. At this point in time Storys biggest crime is standing in Mayers way
  16. No way Story a worse contract than Ells. Gotta adjust for inflation. Ells 7 yrs/153mil; story 6yrs / 140. But you have to factor in that storys contract was 8 years later. Inflation had raised salaries by about 20% over those 8 years. So apples to apples, the 2014 equiv of storys contract was like 6/110. It wasnt top tier money when signed. Gotta net present day ("nerd") that shiz.
  17. We may all go overboard , at times, on smaller sample sizes. And Im no exception, but my Wilyer will get MVP votes (after one game, not even 3) is holding strong. (Not to imply it wasnt an overboard reaction to a small sample size, which it so definitely was)
  18. prob since pre deadline last year
  19. 3-67 does not say it all. If you told me we were 3-67 I would assume that we played against top pitching in a pitchers park. A small sample size can do that (if say out of 5 games, we faced 3 great pitchers and played 3 games in a pitchers park), and sometimes context helps. In this case the helpful context is that there is no helpful context. We havent faced especially tough pitching or played in especially tough places.
  20. Maybe he didnt see your post because of the weird black background , white text but replied to it cuz it was newest comment?
  21. But I do think that obviously Refsnyder will start a significant percentage of time vs lefties. I just dont think its going to be a straight swap for Abreu this year because I think Abreu (mostly due to his age, hes entering his prime now + hes shown a tendency to improve) has taken another step forward and has become too good to platoon. Hes prob .800 vs LHP, .900 vs RHP, GG defense. Yes, MVP votes
  22. Wilyer Abreu will just not stop getting better, and the suggestion that he struggles at anything baseball related may be dated. Hes criminally underrated, winning a gold glove in his rookie season and coming into this year locked in at the plate. .275 is the new .300. Understand its one game, but combined with last years improvement, it could suggest another step forward. He may not even have 100% of his energy right now. But if he does - he shouldnt sit against anyone until he strikes out. If after a couple weeks , he settles into what many are saying he is (platoon player), fine. But he could be this years Duran and if hes going to be , let him Dude is super impressive. I thought Bregman was going to be our under the radar monster and my moneys on Abreu now. Im about to go trade George Kirby for him in my fantasy league and in 2 months Harmony is going to be proposing that very trade here. My money is that he's going to compete for both GG and SS slugger this year, and thats not a guy you platoon.
