  1. Weird tho, usually when your pitch recognition is off against offspeed stuff , you are too far in front and striking out missing (because you see a slider as a fastball). My nickname in the show for a while was "swingsly" cuz i couldnt recognize the low slider running away from me. And im prone to it because ive for some reason always been a low ball hitter (real life and the show). So i lvoe the low pitches, but i whiff on low sliders running away and curveballs in teh dirt. I hammer curvealls at my knees tho. Just drop the bathead and golf. But a good curveball in the dirt will get me excited and ill whiff. Maybe its a confidence thing. Because hes hunting fastball, and intimidated by offspeed stuff, so he recognizes its offspeed and is thinking (dont stay in the zone, dont stay in the zone, s*** thats staying in the zone, late swing, oppo weak contact) but if he didnt recognize offspeed pitches as offspeed, he'd be pulling because he'd be in front. Could be that he recognizes they are offspeed but doesnt have the experience yet to estimate trajectory so he stays back too long. we can figure this out, that much i know.
  2. This is what separates the guys that stick in the show vs those who dont. He needs to adjust. Can he? Will he? You can only cheat so much (e.g. moving back in the box). Either his swing is too long, too slow, his pitch recognition isnt there, or his timing is off. I dont think its a strategy thing.
  3. Say the mariners and he appears. I belieeeeeve in joe hendry (respectfully)
  4. Most of the time , when you are going oppo its because you cant catch up to the heat. Especially this day and age, when the high fastball is back en vogue. There have been very few sucessful oppo hitters by design. Tony Gwynn was special for a reason. This is what happened with Chavis. Teams learned he couldnt catch the high heat, and he became unplayable.
  5. God I hope this isnt a Chavis situation. Fatse, lets go. Hes obvs not meeting the ball out in front.
  6. IM not as anti trading Duran as I was a month ago, but Im still pretty solidly against it.
  7. Especially the wrong poster. It was Notin who originally said that "Crochet , Dobbins and pray for rain three days in a row" could have been written more poetically (how about crochet, dobbins, and pray for tres days of rain) 5GG just took a shot at making the original line more poetic and got attacked.
  8. If his season June on this year mirrors who he was June on last year, hes an MVP caliber player (or close to it)
  9. Not sure they will send him down if he looks ready. Easier to leave the toothpaste in the tube then to get it back in once out.
  10. Keeping your bat through the zone while meeting the ball out in front is very very tough. The reason why PCA can do it is because his pitch recognition is better, so he can swing a fraction earlier and still get good wood. You get natural launch when you are slightly out in front w good contact. Cedanne doesnt have this skill and its why he goes oppo more (more time to read the pitch). Its not a minor tweak to make Cedanne PCA. PCA might not even stay PCA.
  11. Gelatto Giolitto is james paxton. I was hopeful for paxton crawford at least
  12. Look at the bright side - more Ks at the plate and more CS equals less DPs
  13. They could pull a celtics and fire breslow (ainge) and push cora (stevens) upstairs
  14. Finally, I must insist that far and away the biggest difference makers in games and for teams are hitting and pitching. Say it again!
  15. Yeah, but what were we the year before that? (JK - Im sure terrible)
  16. Not defending Cora, but I also have no idea what to do/expect from here. I thought we were going to be good this year :/
