  1. I did mean which Chris Young. The pitcher, I like his fight (against Derek Lee)
  2. I agree, and Devers is a blockhead. He said so himself, when he confessed that he can be stubborn. My issue is that I cant separate the setback from the context. We were told to wait , wait, wait and finally it looked like we were ready to compete, and poof step back. Im not there that he had to be traded or that it made us better or that he was a bad contract. But he was a blockhead, and does deserve some irk.
  3. yikes, what happened to matt mclain.
  4. I like where your head is at. If we didnt trade Devers to free up money but it was because attitude, we should be willing to take on a player back who is good but maybe slightly overpaid and a sweetner to make it BTV neurtal because we shouldnt have to take negative value contract just cuz we can. Theres a few players on Cincy I would love to have. But Im not sure that team is willing to move em (and not talking about Elly)
  5. Wally: I like the renovations to the condo inside the monster but why did you not paint over the manny piss stain? Realtor: Thats , um, popcorn butter to fit the retro movie theater theme.
  6. What about Jeremy Renner in character as Clint Barton? He was in the town.
  7. Not trying to be confrontational, but honestly - pointing to lack of recent team success as evidence that Devers falls deaf on my ears. Too many variables in the recent era of disappointment. By that logic, the Celtics would have been justified trading Pierce.
  8. As long as we are not paying a premium because hes played 1b.
  9. Also , 2 years were burned. Expected value is not the same every year. Nobody thought he would be worth the contract in the final few years, so you sign it because you think its worth it because of the front half. But in a 10 year contrct, lets assume the last 4 would be underwater. So that leaves 6 "good value" years, and we had already burned 2 full and chances of making playoffs this year were below 50% even before trade, so a good chunk of the "good value years" had been burned and thats worth factoring in. And this is my concern with kicking the can too far down the road, we really dont have that much time until the prospects start getting more expensive, and I really dont want to waste a year on Crochets contract , especially if he stays healthy (knock on wood)
  10. Right but I need Harmony to appear to so I can use my Joe Hendry joke
  11. Agreed with the bold, and a lot of the reason was not because he looked ready (the fact that he had recent experience at 2b, could play other positions as well, was a righty)
  12. If the Braves start selling, Ozuna may be a .900 OPS bat available for cheap.
  13. Yes, Yale alums only! That was my joke. TY for getting it. Has to be from this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Yale_Bulldogs_baseball_players my faves: Lavarnway, the ghost of George Bush sr, , Ducky pond, Ron Darling, some guy, Howe, who owns a sporting goods store in RI (where I am going to try to get to this weekend), Dick Jauron, and some guy named jumping jack who apparently leapt into the air when pitching in the 1800s. Is that teachable?
  14. I dont think past problems with recruiting are going to save Breslow, personally. Not to imply that I think he's for sure gonezo. Just saying I dont think that will weigh heavily in the decision.
  15. Understood Fenway isnt great for lefties either, but that looks like still a signifiant drop to go from 108 to 95 (park factor). Also, assuming 100 = average. To have #21 be at 108 (slightly above average) and have 27 be only at 95 (slightly below average) is crazy. What are 28-30 park factors, in the teens? Something has to be really weighing that down (or Im overlooking something) This is a great illustration of median vs mean
  16. Where's Harmony? This guy is proposing we get Cal Raleigh for a package that includes Nav and Yoshida (and unnamed prospects). Can anyone name 5 players right now with more trade value than Cal Raleigh, signed 6 years at a modest amount and one of the only catchers that can really hurt you?
