  1. That's not new. American kids in general used to play pick up games just for the fun of it, no parents or leagues. I think it's got to be more like that to get back to the way it was.
  2. Assuming it's stubbornness on his part and not dishonesty by the front office.
  3. I would have to know all the motivations behind all the people involved in this. Was Devers actually promised 3rd base or is he exaggerating? Is Devers a selfish player with an f-you attitude or is it about the people behind the scenes who act like your friend in one minute and dump you without hesitation in another. Of course the fan is the least considered, but whatever.
  4. Does he not speak English? It's not very team oriented to needing an interpreter to speak with your teammates having been this long in the league. Looks like he understands it pretty quick but can't speak it.
  5. I don't want to be too negative, I'm sure there are plenty of successful teams that go through these kind of slumps but if I were to look at the team right now, I would see a team that expected to be successful and are a bit skittish about facing the fact that they aren't. I was hearing that they are the worst team in mlb when it comes to losing close games. Yet their overall offensive stats aren't bad. To me this screams leadership, but as I said, that's my picture of the team today and it could all just be a necessary phase that has to happen to figure out the bugs of a new team.
  6. It seemed pretty simple. If you have a good offense, pair it with a good bullpen to protect a lead.
  7. I'm saying Cora doesn't allow his starting pitchers, who often are doing well, to stay in the game, so the bullpen is coming into a game to replace someone that is already doing well. So I'm saying it's not a good mindset to have for a bullpen pitcher.
  8. To blame the offense for the bullpen giving away leads IMMEDIATELY after a good performance by the starting pitcher is something I disagree with. It's not on the bullpen either, it's completely on Cora. Maybe a bullpen reliever would feel more useful if he was needed more, like because the starting pitcher starts faltering.
  9. I think the loss came when Wong grounded into a double play with two men on.
  10. I guess the whole league is this way now. Not to sound like a broken record but I don't like it. It's taking the thinking and responsibility and spirit away from the player, making them wimpier and dumber and more susceptible to injury. It's like baseball socialism. Also, if everybody does it, who is there to compare to to prove its better?
  11. I'm saying why not wait until he gets in a little trouble. Hes earned the right to continue, within reason. I've heard that the theory is that they get easier to hit after 3 but you are talking about the difference between someone who is doing very well and dialed in and someone who is pretty cold and you don't know what you're going to get. If pitchers cared about wins and losses, they'd be pretty pissed at Cora by now.
  12. I think the one guy who no one complains about but should is Cora. He let Houck pitch the 7th, yay, but wait a minute, his pitch count was only 86. What is it? Pitch counts or innings? I know, whichever gets them out of the game the fastest. I understood pulling Giolito considering he just got back but this is getting ridiculous. Cora and Casas, get em out of here. I was listening to the radio broadcast and they said Casas is purposely only swinging at certain strikes ie not high ones...and he's tall!
  13. That's absolutely nuts. The difference between a 2 to a 3 run home run seems light years away, or is that just the Red Sox these days?
  14. Agreed. If he wants it, he should be able to have it. He's been our star for awhile and a little loyalty goes a long way. Of course only if it's an upgrade which, with some practice, it would be. As someone on here pointed out, you can't just put him on 1st without training. Youkilis did it though and he became a gold glover.
  15. I mean, it's better than not leading the league in them. You have people getting on base, and then you have people driving them in with home runs. Whats not to like? I think the important thing is when they do stuff.
  16. Sometimes sacrifices must be made for the good of the team.
  17. By the time Yoshida gets healthy, which seems like there's no great hurry, if Casas doesn't pick it up, let them trade places and have Devers play first.
  18. It should be pointed out that as Devers was "struggling," he not only lead the team, by a wide margin, in walks but, because of those walks, in runs too.
  19. Why do they constantly take pitchers out when they are doing well? It's freakin irking me.
  20. I'm good with getting a pitcher while at the same time trading Casas or Yoshida as well as Mayers as a package. I also noticed David Robertson is still a free agent.
  21. Was that Bogearts you are talking about concerning Story? I stopped paying attention during Covid, I've just started paying attention again. I also remember they put Bogaerts on 3rd for awhile but he demanded SS, but I digress. Yes a team should do whats best for the team and as I said Bregman is good for the team. At the same time, they aren't actual gears for some machine, loyalty is also good for a team and if you go too far without it you will lose your team. I'm more looking at how Devers goes to DH instead of 1st. I may be off base and Devers may want 3rd and nothing else but if that's not true, why is the more unproductive, unproven, more rookie player not at DH, Casas, instead of the player who has been your best player and wants to play on the field? That's how I agreed with your previous post, two posts ago. I'm saying they haven't done a good job at figuring out the Casas/Devers/Yoshida conundrum and agree they shouldve traded Casas in the off-season.
  22. I concur. Getting Bregman or some kind of talented RHB was crucial but to put the face of the franchise as DH when he was supposedly promised 3rd base for his career, though by a previous administration, is not nothing. Bregman and Cora being old chums from Astros may not be nothing either.
