  1. I am probably not as high on the pitching in the lower levels as you. Valero is the only starter I see. But there are a ton of potential major league relievers, if the command and control improves! Next year, I want to see what level each of the 2024 pitching draft class starts the year at!
  2. I think the emphasis across the organization is to throw breaking balls for strikes. Only time will tell if our guys have the ability to develop the command and control needed to develop into major leaguers
  3. Sandlin looked pretty good for the first four innings. But the wheels exploded in the fifth inning. He served up two meatballs. But it could have been more. One pitch can be unhittable and the next a meatball The stuff is good, but the command comes and goes by pitch!
  4. Take out the top 3 and the next group of cespedes, arias, Campbell, blies and Montgomery are not that bad at all
  5. As crazy stacked as Worcester will be , Portland should also have a decent roster next year. Romero Garcia Ravelo Castro B Gonzalez Rosario The hitting depth is off the charts
  6. Anthony - really struggled earlier this year with breaking balls but has seemed to figure it out. Mayer - he struggles with down and in pitches and has never figured it out Teel - Some have said the defense has issues. I have not seen it, but maybe that is why he has not been promoted
  7. The bottleneck is yoshida. A lefty dh with no power or speed. Moving yoshida allows a spot for Anthony and allows Cora to mix and match in the outfield with some decent defensive outfielders
  8. Anthony is no longer grounding out on breaking balls. He is picking up the spin and mashing!!!! Really impressed with his at bats this past week or two
  9. To lose Cassass, story and giota early in the season and still be fighting for a playoff spot is impressive beyond belief. This team has heart and they are competitive to the last out!
  10. Rafeala has to play center field full time. Dude is amazing
  11. Anthony is hitting breaking balls much better now than at the beginning of the year. He could have the sweetest swing of any prospect in the Red Sox minor league system.
  12. We lack quality depth and that is Cora’s biggest concern for the rest of 2024. Houk and crawford are approaching their max innings and their stuff is getting soft and lacking bite. Paxton is throwing batting practice. These next two months are a lot of 7-5 and 9-8 games
  13. Watched Sandlin throw yesterday. His stuff is good! Big league good! He threw a lot of meatballs and was lucky the hitters fouled them! He cleans up the meatballs and his stuff is legit
  14. The lack of depth has been exposed
  15. Why??? He is beyond terrible
  16. I think teel is Boston ready now with the bat! The defense is already better than wong’s! 2025 should be wong and teel behind the plate.
  17. I agree! Duran had a pop gun for an arm. He only works in left field. I think Anthony and rafeala can play center or right field. Abreau has huge upside to be the best bat in the outfield! The problem is 3 of the 4 bat lefty! Anthony is finally starting to figure out breaking balls in Portland. He looks closer to Boston ready every day
  18. I thought after the first inning his stuff was pretty good. His stuff will never be winklenan good, but it is not bad either! Without command and control, he was serving up meatballs in the first inning.
  19. In the third inning yesterday, the announcers said he was throwing a lot of sliders (which looked like clurves to me) maybe that was intentional and part of his injury recovery???? The sliders generated loud contact
  20. Valdez 5 for 5, but he also threw the ball away twice! Early struggled to find his command in the first inning, then he figured it out and looked really good after that. Penrod was cruising and then ran out of gas in the third I think.
  21. I think for 2025, we have to give rafeala a permanent home in center field. An outfield of Duran - rafeala - abreau and refsynder should be decent offensively and defensively
  22. At the end of the year, we have 8 free agents Jansen (catcher) - replace by gasper or teel O’Neil (outfielder) - replace by Anthony???? Pivetta (starter) - replace by gioletta Paxton (starter) - replace by prieter????? Jansen (closer) - replace by Hendricks Martin (set up) - replace by slaten Sims (reliever) - replace by fulmer or free agent Garcia (reliever ) - replace by luetge????
  23. McDonough called up to Worcester!
  24. Mayer left after striking out today. Hope he did not aggravate whatever kept him out of the lineup earlier last week
  25. Portes was a top 30 prospect and Yeferson might have developed into something
