  1. The time to get pitching was before we signed Martinez. Fireman dave put out the wrong fire unfortunately! I mean really! Who did not see this coming. We are one pop in price’s elbow away from a major fire! We would need to move payroll in order to add quality pitching, unless dave convinces someone to sign a one year “prove it” deal for a very low cost.
  2. if we brought in any starter at this point in trainers my camp, I think it is very unlikely they could be ready for opening day. We are basically launching with a half dozen pitchers on the shelf. Time for the AAAA pitchers to step up!
  3. Let’s see how he is throwing come this September! Last September I sent to remember him serving up a ton of meatballs!
  4. Come on brother, I thought you were a huge fan of moreland’s? Weren’t you the guy telling us that Moreland was custom built to Fenway and you predicted goldschimdt type numbers this year?
  5. When does price pitch next? He holds the keys to our season in his damaged elbow.
  6. Yes, but his swing is still not classic betts. He seems to be jumping at pitches lately.
  7. The good news is that it was the tendon and not the muscle. If it is the muscle then he is doomed to ucl replacement. Normally in this situation the trainers have the athlete go through rehab and get the tendon strong enough to last the year. I am cautiously optimistic we may get Pomeranz through this year before he breaks down.
  8. I finally got to see Workman throw today. His mechanics looked clean and his ball had more life on it than pre surgery. Could be a valuable piece in our pen if he keeps progressing.
  9. Let us know when he gets to #39?
  10. His swing is really messed up at the moment, but with time he should get it figured out.
  11. It would be nice if dave had a plan but that is just too much to ask for at this point.
  12. I think Dave needs to be looking for some starting pitching!
  13. Last I heard, buchholz could not pass a physical and that is why he is not signed.
  14. Porcello was very impressive today. If he regains his 2016 form, that would be a huge win for us!
  15. Watched mookie swing the bat today and there is trouble in paradise. Hopefully it is just timing or maybe he needs to see the eye doctor. Thankfully still plenty of time to work out the bugs.
  16. Swihart had another nice game today. He is clearly seeing the ball really well this spring,
  17. Amen brother! From your lips to god’s ears! We have some heavy weights to deal with first though. New York, Houston and Cleveland. Not to mention the twins, angels and blue jays could are all looking for a seat at the table. Survival of the fittest this year.
  18. As of today, we have pitchers Thornburg, Wright and Rodriguez not starting the season with us. We have price’s and pomeranz’s seasons hanging by a ucl. While I think we have a lot of quality relievers, I also think we could really use another quality starter just in case the youngsters (Velasquez, Elias, Haley, and Johnson) are not able to answer the bell.
  19. Johnson looked good today. And Walden had a field day against the Baltimore youngsters,
  20. I was extremely pleasantly surprised by elias. He really threw the ball well. Clean delivery.
  21. I do not think he he over rated at all. He had bad luck with the knee the last couple seasons, but he has a plus fastball and changeup. Yes the curve could be tighter, but his stuff is good. He operates nicely in the lower part of the strike zone. If he stays healthy, he will have a break out season. He is a number 2 in a rotation, but needs to stay healthy to prove it.
  22. Last year I thought there was talk in the media about both shoulders hurting. I know he got one fixed.
  23. Good move by the pirates.
  24. Could not agree more.
  25. I want to go back to leadership and pedroia for a second. There is an article on the NESN site that basically says pedroia wants others to step up and be the leaders of the team. Ok probably best for the team if that happens, don’t know who could fill that role. But that is pedrioa’s perrogative. Then I read the lindy’s baseball preview issue and it has an unnamed scout talking about how pedroia owns the locker room and Cora needs to get pedroia in his corner so as to not wind up like Farrell who did not have pedroia in his corner. And in my mind, the conclusion I get as that we have a totally dysfunctional locker room centered around pedrioa. I got a player who does not want to be a leader controlling the fates of the manager. This is not anyway to run a railroad. Somebody needs to step up and stop the madness. What am I missing here?
