  1. bregman wouldn't have changed anything as none of the plays involved the 3rd baseman
  2. They're only meaningless when you are not converting them, I guess.......
  3. That's great, are you happy converting 50%of your save opportunities?
  4. The sox bullpen leads the AL in innings pitched (211) and has only converted 12 of 24 save opportunities.
  5. Doesn't cora have to ask for devers' permission first?
  6. Well, it is nearing desperation time for the sox. Lately, outside of a few blowout games, the sox have been struggling to score. Take today's lineup, 4 guys OPSing below .650, with 3 of them below .600 and one below .400. They are closer to last place in the division than they are to first and now have 5 teams ahead of them in the WC race with the angels only a half a game behind them. Some might consider this a desperate time.
  7. never claimed to be a sox fan, just a baseball fan. But never been a fan of excuses.......
  8. So, you asked about other teams and their injuries and I responded with an example. Now that you didn't like the answer you get upset.
  9. It's almost like cora is afraid of devers.
  10. One could argue that the Yanks losing Cole for the season and Gil & Stroman for a large chunk were far greater than the sox loss of their pitchers. And the Yanks haven't struggled with trying to find .500
  11. The AL East might not be that tough for the Yankees The AL East is typically one of the stronger divisions in baseball, and it seemed likely to be formidable again in 2025, with the Yankees and Orioles coming off postseason berths and the Red Sox, Blue Jays and Rays all making moves to improve in the offseason. However, that hasn’t been the case so far. Baltimore is this season’s most disappointing team at 19-35, while none of Boston, Toronto or Tampa Bay has been more than four games above .500 all year. Conversely, the Yankees have one of the best records in baseball, as well as an MLB-leading +112 run differential. They extended their AL East lead to seven games with Tuesday's win over the Angels, the largest of any first place team. These April surprises have held up in May
  12. Red Sox offensive woes makes ultimate desperation move possible
  13. They don't have anything to do with the sox record to this point. I was just giving an example that many teams, not just the sox, face injuries. It's part of the game.
  14. As I mentioned, the Yanks have been without Cole, Gil and Stanton season to date. Stroman, Loasiga, Chisolm, Cabrera, LeMahieu, Cruz and Velasquez have all missed extended time with a few done for the season.
  15. Sometimes firing the manager does give a spark. Like the old saying goes, you can't fire the team.
  16. Or if he could actually hit the ball.
  17. This date in 1946, the first night game at Yankee Stadium!
  18. Those weren't long term situations. Every team has a few injuries out of the gate. It's not like gio and bello were Cole and Gil.
  19. For me, I'd rather have the adequate fielder with the much better bat. There's always the talk of "up the middle defense" yet the Yanks seemed to do pretty good with Jeter, Bernie and Posada up the middle and nobody was ever going to confuse that trio with perennial Gold Glover's.
  20. Maybe, can you ever recall an instance where a pitcher was reprimanded for shaking off a pitch?
  21. There's a few posters who seem infatuated with CF defense over reality. I mean, exactly how many plays do these "greatest CF'ers the red sox have ever had" make that most CF'ers don't make over the course of the season to try and make up for an anemic bat?
  22. Doesn't the pitcher still have the ability to shake off whatever pitch is called?
  23. Wouldn't they actually have to be above .500 first for any trades to "keep" them above .500?
