  1. Duran on his own would not get this done. I think we would need to add one our big 4 prospects to get this done.
  2. i would not mind Burnes as he is a solid SP but his age and slight decline do concern me given that he likely require a large and fairly lengthy FA contract. I would prefer we find a way to get a young stud like we did with Pedro and Beckett. Problem is that teams don't seem to trade those types these days..
  3. Red Sox need to pursue a young 23-28 yr old QUALITY SP who is cost controlled for at least 2-3 years and can fit with-in the window of our young players and our prospects. We DO NOT NEED a veteran #3 or 4 SP on a 1-2 year deal who then gets turned into the next veteran #3 or 4 SP on a 1-2 yr deal. Sox have made their bed of building through the system so let's go all in on that. plan.
  4. what has the team done the past few offseason to make a fan optimistic?
  5. i agree that Yoshida will be the DH again next year. Based on our past few offseason I look for the Sox to add a couple journeyman relievers on 1 yr deals Breslow will also sign a RH bat for the OF and that will be about the extent of the offseason moves.
  6. without major upgrades yes this team will improve -likely to about 82-80
  7. and more than 3-4 other teams. I guess though you'd be happy with an 83-79 record and the 3rd W/C?
  8. very true but I don't think he had the same power as Raffy does
  9. that will give them the excuse to punt again on 2025
  10. trust me i am sure that is very high on Bresslow's list this offseason. the surgery doesn't help though.
  11. first off Yoshida was a bad signing from day 1. Popular belief was that Bloom far overpaid for him. At the time he might have been a 3-4 million dollar player but right now he does not fit at all with the Sox. NO power and is only a DH. I'd get rid of him anyway possible. Eat whatever $$ you need to make it happen. A straight up trade for Montgomery will not happen for 2 reasons. 1} Henry will not approve any extra $$ for Montgomery and 2} the other team would probably not even want Yoshida. On another note do you still want the Sox to sign Flaherty?
  12. i wonder who still wants the Sox to sign Flaherty as a FA this offseason?
  13. you are overvaluing what other teams think of Yoshida. Even if the Sox found a taker they would have to retain a large % of his contract and get nothing more than a low level prospect in return.
  14. because he was far superior to the bozos who followed him although to be fair they have had their hands tied by Ebenezer Henry
  15. name me one single 'top' prospect that DD traded that has really worked out for the team acquiring him?
  16. what with all the high draft picks we have spent on shortstops the past 3-4 drafts that none of them are even close to MLB ready besides Mayer? Not even Micky Romero?
  17. probably the best bet on a 1 yr deal but I think he might want to return to Toronto where he spent several years. They need another C too.
  18. not a chance. Bello has a chance to be at least a #2. I like Crawford but I think a part of his success is in his delivery which looks like a bit of a quick pitch.
  19. one of your best posts. don't hold your breath on most of it happening though
  20. according to many on here that are counting on Story for next year why wouldn't the Mariners too?
