    always the optimist. i see us trending towards a third last place finish in four years. Ben did that and got canned, even though his one winning season was a WS championship. i can't wait to see Bloom in the unemployment line.

    Mayer struggled big-time in AA and now he's hurt. i'd trade him in a second in a package for a quality SP.

    Mookie's bwar since the trade: 21.9, Verdugo's is 9.1 and Wong's is 2.4. i have nothing against Alex and Connor but 11.5 is still quite a bit less than 21.9. and i don't give a f*** what anybody says, forced or not, that's the worst gotdamn trade in Red Sox history. and nothing short of a career-ending injury by Mookie will change that.

    teams with great hitting and pitching can overcome s***** defense. like the 2004 and 2018 Sox teams you mentioned earlier. the pitching staff on this team is so bad, they can't afford the extra outs given up by the defense. i don't know why it's so hard for you to understand this.

    during a Red Sox series in Arlington in the early 90's, i met and visited with Dewey in the hotel dining area. super nice guy. he even asked me to join his table for drinks. i said thanks and politely declined. never met Doerr. saw Ted at a baseball card convention in Memphis, also in the early 90's.
