  1. Rangers are the closest MLB team to me and i've been there dozens of times. guess i'll root for them. and screw the Rays. glad they're out. the only team i hate worse than the Skankees.
  2. don't worry, when his career is over, i'm sure he'll have no trouble finding work as a human windmill.
  3. it's things like this that separate a bad team from a fair team, a fair team from a good team and a good team from a great team.
  4. thanks to two errors on the same play by Baltimore. amazingly, some people think defense doesn't matter.
  5. it all matters. i don't know why he's being so hard-headed about it. maybe we could get Bill Buckner to convince him.
  6. it has made sense for far too long yet hasn't happened. he's only been worst or second worst defensive 3B every year he's played but his first. and had he played a full year that year, he would have been the worst then too.
  7. even with the Sox being out of it for quite some time, Cora has still yet to use Devers at 1B. this blows my mind that we can see this but he doesn't. at this point, what do they have to lose? it's ridiculous having such an aawful defense and even more ridiculous that he doesn't seem to care to do anything about it. i really like your Matt CHapman idea. and it makes a ton of sense so....it will never happen. i guess Cora is going to stick with guys that can't play defense for s*** (see Rodriguez, Kike) because he's a "players coach".
  8. those rest days were important. because if Cora hadn't given them all those "rest days" they would have finished even deeper in the AL East cellar.
  9. yeah....but doesn't every team play a "brutal" schedule? maybe all the Braves, Rays, Orioles, Dodgers and Rangers players are just conditioned better? no offense, but i think any coach/manager/player using this as an excuse is doing so to avoid saying that his players/team just aren't very good.
  10. That and trade Masa works for me.
  11. i feel the same way, but....if we get a #1 and a #2 SP and a big RH bat, i think there is a pretty decent chance next year. however, this would mean that JH is going to have to spend some money. which he may not want to do. if he doesn't or they don't fill the holes, it is going to be several more years hanging out in the cellar of the ALEast.
  12. i sort of have a different take on Cora's cheating. when it comes to winning, i subscribe to the old theory that "if you're not cheating, then you're not trying". i want the Sox to use every advantage they can to win balls games. if it's cheating, that's fine. just don't get caught. LOL. with that said, i've been unhappy with Cora many times over the years. besides "resting" players two weeks into the season, one thing that particularly irks me is his unwillingness to challenge calls. i've seen numerous plays that would have been overturned that he never even bothered with. WTF? C'mon man, you have to use every tool available to win games and it's like he doesn't care. he consistently ranks near the bottom of all managers in challenges. He has just 18 this year. Kevin Cash leads with 54. i know there is a lot of Cora support on here and though i'm fine if he stays, i wouldn't be upset even a little if he was canned.
  13. i think they did. it all sounds very very familiar.
  14. yeah, change 'em back to the regular unis. i hate those damn things.
  15. overall OPS is 7th, as is slugging. OBP is 10th. definitely could use some more pop. the Braves top 5 players combined have 20 more home runs than the entire Red Sox team. overall, i say a bit above mediocre but still good enough to make the playoffs if the pitching and defense weren't so freakin' awful.
  16. the Sox are top 7 or better in most every offensive category except home runs (17th), triples (21st) and walks (23rd). interestingly, they are 3rd in hits, yet they drop to 7th in total bases. lots of singles and doubles leading to lots of runs. and lots of runners LOB. it would be nice to see more walks and a bit more power next season. with that said, the offense was good enough to get us into the postseason this year, it was the pitching that did us in.
  17. good gawd, really? they give input that leads to decisions.
  18. i agree. Martin has been money all season long. wish we had 6 more just like him.
  19. LOL, no. if this is the best his analytics dept can do, then well....maybe they need to be fired too.
  20. ok, i worded it poorly, but yes, i meant the team was awful, not the draft picks. my bad. we did get some nice draft picks. i'm really excited about Teel.
  21. you're right. if he was hired to tank the franchise to improve their draft picks then sure, he should be graded higher.
  22. i didn't say the draft picks were awful, Moon. i said giving him a high grade for FINISHING LAST and getting high draft picks was wrong.
