    that's what he should do. he really really needs two top pitchers. if he does that, i don't see how we don't make the playoffs next year.

    my greatest fear this offseason is Bloom sitting on his hands, waiting til the last minute as the SP free agent corpse gets picked over until there is nothing left but scraps, to sign some oft-injured, aging veteran.

    i get a rest day in the middle or later in the season, but in the middle of a hot streak is stupid. and just as bad is a rest day during the first few weeks of the season.

    sorry...i didn't mean to sound if i was pointing you out as one of "Bloom's defenders". i've always considered your analysis -on anything- as very fair-minded. a bit overly-optimistic at times but very fair.

    Bloom had best add some quality starting pitching or it's gonna get ugly next year. of course his defenders will say it's really a 10 or 15 year plan instead of 5.

    that was my thinking but apparently Bloom would rather draft shortstops and then later trade them for pitchers. at least that's what i've been told.

    i've been watching Emerson Hancock of the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners AA club) all year. glad to see he got called up the other day. i think he's going to do well for them.

    no offense to you, Moon or anyone else for that matter. i followed this forum for at least a couple of years before they let me in. as someone who has been a diehard Red Sox fan since 1975, i enjoy the back and forth, the differing opinions and the ability to vent my frustrations. i don't like seeing Red Sox fans attacking each other. i won't do it myself but if someone wants to have at it, i won't hold back.
