  1. No one knows what the Sox will get out of Sale in 2022, and lots of people on here are just assuming he will be good again. What if he’s not? I don’t care who was in the rotation to start 2021, but who finished in the rotation in 2021, and Sale was in it, so spin it anyway you want. As for Devers I have said I would not give out any $300M contracts to anybody, but if you are going to extend him you’d better do it now, because he gets more expensive every day, and the same with Bogey. I know all about Houck being good at times, and just as bad at times. Very inconsistent. As for Whitlock nobody knows what he would do as a major league starter, and I just think you’d be taking a big risk starting both next year. All this back, and forth over Whack a, because that’s all the Sox have done.
  2. Are you saying Whack a is as good as E Rod?? I’m not going just by ERA, but Whack a is no E Rod.
  3. The bullpen needs the most help, and the bad part is not knowing what you can get from Barnes if anything. Sale only pitched 42 innings yes, but he was already in the rotation, so counting him as an addition is a bit of a stretch outside of getting more innings from him. You still need to add more bodies.
  4. A great signing for a pitcher with a 5+ ERA? OMG. I don’t care how he finished the season, and he didn’t miss to many bats with the mentioned 5+ ERA. Houck, and Whitlock are not replacing anybody. They were already there, and neither is Sale. We haven’t saved any money yet, and if anything wasted $7M, and we still need to add pitching. Good pitching. Boy the way people are spinning things just to make this signing look good is unbelievable. I would have resigned E Rod, but it looks like they didn’t offer anything more than the QO, which is a bad sign to me.
  5. If Bloom had a bigger allowance from daddy JH he probably wouldn’t have made a Whacka move like this, but getting only nickel and dimes these are the kind of moves fans better get used to.
  6. Yes, but this guy has pretty much sucked for the last 3 years unlike the other guys.
  7. I would rather have Rich Hill then these two.
  8. Yes on JH.
  9. Both together aren’t worth $7M let alone one of them. That $7M could be put to better use.
  10. Yes, but that 5.05 was an improvement from his 6.62 from the year before. What a prize pickup. NOT.
  11. Bloom is only operating on a small allowance from JH, so don’t expect much.
  12. Neither one is to enticing. 5+ ERA for $7M is to much money for 1 year, or not.
  13. Who’s replacing E Rod? If you say Houck, or Whitlock then it’s going to cost to replace them in the pen with anyone decent. Either way it’s going to cost, and most likely more than replacing E Rod.
  14. For the next 5 years it may cost more to replace E Rod,and not just the money part.
  15. I would rather spend $15M on E Rod.
  16. Upside indicators after 9 years in the league, and 30 yrs old with a 5+ ERA. He sucks plain, and simple, and a $7M contract to boot. 7 thousand should have been more like it. Not 7M.
  17. Hopefully he doesn’t pass his physical.
  18. It’s looking more like it.
  19. You mean pitchers?
  20. Doesn’t look like it. Rule 5 the next move?
  21. We’d already be doing worse with Matz, so more worse it could get.
  22. 100% agree. Matz name is to famous anyway.
  23. What are the chances the Sox outbid all these teams? Even if they did it’s a step down from E Rod.
  24. Santana was another big clunker. There is more of a tendency when you go to garage sales, but not as expensive.
  25. I would like to know what they offered E Rod, and if, and what they have offered Bogey.
